It’s done . . . now I can go (checks notes) come up with a human design for Lorelei based off of the split second glimpse we get of it in game. Surely such a thing will be easier than hand drawing every single rose here. And no, my hands totally aren’t shaking just a little bit.

I decided to slip in the condensed 30 second time-lapse here, because there was a lot of indecision going on in my head during this, and while the super sped up version isn’t enough to show it, I still thought it would be nice to post.

The full timelapse procreate offered me was around 10 minutes, and while I’m not sure what the conversion rate is here, it’s probably something like a minute for every hour if I had to guess. I really don’t know.

I really don’t think Jade would ever get actively jealous because obviously Saphir belongs to him but I do like imagining a scenario in which Saphir had a secret fling while they were in the military academy and Jade only learns about it that full decade later and is like ??? 1) he’s always belonged to me because he’s literally obsessed with me and yet I didn’t know about this? and 2) WHO would date Saphir???

Of course Peony’s interpretation of this (once he drags it out of Jade) is that he’s jealous and in his own way he definitely is, even though in a literal sense he isn’t. And also he has the answer to who, not because Saphir told him but because he actually paid attention to their friends while Jade was on his fomicry doom spiral, and Saphir wasn’t actually that good at keeping secrets.

Of course, learning who doesn’t actually help whatever he’s feeling so he does actually bring it up oh so casually but Saphir is like “You’re still thinking about this??? First of all, I was a 16yo little gay boy in the military desperately in love with a sociopath* of COURSE I went on a date with the first boy who showed me attention. Second of all, we went on THREE dates until I started feeling guilty that I was betraying you in some way, it wasn’t that serious and the man probably barely remembers.”

*I don’t like the term sociopath for various reasons but Jade is a fictional character that I feel perfectly fits the term and I feel less complicated about because he’s a good example of the well (enough) adjusted archetype because he had a support system
