FFXIV: Streamers React to Haurchefant References in Shadowbringers

After finishing the Shadowbringers MSQ, I had to see how other people reacted to…. certain moments from the story.  It was interesting to see that perhaps we had similar reactions after all…

okay but can we please talk about Lady Chai from Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers… 

like i was worried at first when i saw her being one of the game’s first chubby or fat NPCs because she might end up being a victim to the “fat joke” trope or end up being a throw-away NPC.. but boy was it so refreshing when she turned out to be one of the game’s best NPCs.. NOT ONCE in the game, was her weight mentioned negatively nor  was it mentioned at all! in the artist painting Alphinaud made, she wasnt drawn skinnily (i told you i was really expecting the worst) but this is the result of Alphi’s painting and it’s so true to her image: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/c7lwdr/alphinauds_new_painting/

in fact, she undergoes development where she starts out as naive and a victim to Eulmore’s politics.. but in the end, tries to make up for her shortcomings and remains consistently the sweetest, lovely, and most optimistic. she loves her husband and is adored by her husband (who is skinny btw).. like XIV is really ahead of their time especially being a JRPG wherein often in this genre, fat people are made to be a butt of jokes.. but XIV didnt do that and instead represented her as super lovely and human. this is the type of representation fat people deserve to see in JRPGs
