BIS Certification for Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes
It is not only advantageous but also necessary for bicycle and rickshaw tires and tubes to have BIS certification. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification guarantees that these products fulfill the required safety requirements and quality standards.
ISI Mark can be used on the products by getting BIS certification. ISI mark is a mark of quality and conformity to Indian standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards. For cycle and rickshaw tires and tubes, It ensures that the tires and tubes manufactured meet the specified quality parameters, including durability, performance, and safety.
QCO for Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes
MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) has issued a Quality Control Order through the Bureau of Indian Standards to make BIS Certification for Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes. This QCO was published on 11th December 2023 in the official gazette.
This order may be called the Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
It shall come into force on the expiry of six months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
1.) For large or foreign manufacturers, this QCO shall come into force on the expiry of 6 months from the date of publication of this notification.
2.) For small manufacturers, this order shall come into force on the expiry of 9 months, and for micro-level enterprises or manufacturers, it shall come into form on the expiry of 12 months from the date of publication of this notification in the official gazette.

Compulsory use of Standard Mark
As the Bureau of Indian Standards (Govt. of India) has made BIS Certification mandatory for Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes, manufacturers must have a BIS license to manufacture these products within a given time in the QCO. If you are a manufacturer of Cycle and Rickshaw Tyres and Tubes you can check your industry scale in Udyam registration of your industry and apply for BIS certification accordingly. It is compulsory to show the ISI Mark on your products after the implementation of this QCO.
Any manufacturer or importer who contravenes the provisions of this Order (QCO) shall be punishable under the provision of the BIS Act, 2016.
