So I loved all of the flashbacks we got to Cal and Jaro’s time as Master and Padawan in JFO, but they left me wanting even more backstory. Like maybe how Cal got assigned to Tapal in the first place? I know that during the clone wars Jedi just got assigned padawans instead of picking them themselves, so I wonder what their first meeting was like.
I’m just imagining that Jaro Tapal is walking down the hall with Yoda which looks hilarious because the height difference is massive and Yoda tells him “Meet your new Padawan today, you will.”
And then two younglings come running up to them shouting “Master Yoda! Master Yoda!”
“What is it young ones?” Yoda asks.
“Cal got stuck on a ledge again.” One of the younglings says.
Tapal looks down at Yoda who sighs and shakes his head before smiling at the younglings. “A love for climbing that boy has, but gets him in trouble, it often does. Take us to him, you must.”
So they walk into the room and see Cal up on a ledge that like connects to a chandelier or something but anyway he’s up high and is holding onto a pillar and looks scared that he might fall.
Since Tapal is the tallest he tries to reach for the boy but he’s up too high for even him to reach. So Cal’s gonna have to get himself out of this one, and Tapal decides he should walk him through it.
“Cal you’re going to have to jump.” Tapal says to him.
“But I’m up too high, I’ll get hurt.” A nervous Cal replies and hugs the pillar tighter.
“No you won’t. All you need to do is trust in the Force.” Tapal says.
A smile graces the lasat’s features as the youngling looks at him and his green eyes gleam with hope. He feels a tug at his heart, like the Force was telling him he was meant to help this boy as he takes a leap of faith and…falls face first onto the floor.
Everyone gasps as Cal lands on the floor with a smack. He’s silent but then they hear a small “ow” and let out a sigh of relief that he was conscious.
Tapal lets out a short chuckle and shakes his head.
“It seems this boy lacks discipline. He’ll need a strict Master.” Tapal notes.
“Yes, a very disciplined Jedi like yourself, he will need.” Yoda replies and smiles at him.
Then Tapal recognizes that mischievous look on Yoda’s face and sighs.
“This one’s mine isn’t he?” He asks and points at Cal who’s still lying on the floor.
