Something to consider in your online discourse about Luigi:

Obviously, humor and levity is a way to cope with a stressful situation, and I don't think the majority of conversation and creation that goes on about Luigi is wrong. That being said, the thing at the foremost in all conversations, from those of us that consider ourselves supporters rather than fans, should be his humanity.

I'm begging you, please be careful not to fictionalize him to the point where who he really is a person gets lost.

That's the objective of the media and the government. Don't let them win. Don't help them accomplish their goal. Think of the young man who is sitting behind bars trying desperately to cling to his true self in the middle of the darkness. Don't let the world forget the light that he has brought to it by his mere existence.

They want him to be some dark, disturbed character. Never let them forget that he's not.

Today is World Schizophrenia Day. Sadly, schizophrenics are still widely known as "violent" and "dangerous". The stigma for schizophrenia is continuing to worsen, while the stigma for other mental disorders, like depression, are improving

We need more advocates. We need more people to come forward and talk about their experiences. We need to have more open discussions about Schizophrenia and psychosis in general. We need more funding for support and crisis help

But we also need none Schizophrenics to help us. To step up and call out the false ideas about us. To help others understand that we aren't monsters. To hold others accountable and not encourage jokes made in our expense.

We're constantly made fun of. "Schizoposting" filling up every Online Schizophrenia space available. People washing down our experiences and terms, like "delulu", "omg they're so psychotic", "religious people just have religious psychosis!!" And more.

Please, just listen to us. Stop treating us like a ticking time bomb. Please, take us seriously. Don't treat us like unreliable narrators. Yes, our reality is different from yours, but that doesn't take our humanity and autonomy

And ESPECIALLY don't feed our delusions. Don't tell people with schizophrenia or psychosis that they're spiritual. That our experiences are just because we’re some chosen shaman or something. People don't realize that this can bring real life consequences and can result in Death
