What I find interesting in this picture is that Donnie looks like the only uncomfortable one in the pile. Leonardo, Rapheal and Leo look happy, we can't see Michelangelo's face, and Mikey and Donatello just have that 'sleepy/passed out' look.
Buy Donnie looks physically uncomfortable. Like he would rather be anywhere else, but stays probably because Mikey dragged him into it.
Is this Donnie having some discomfort from his shell?
Also, did Casy mention what happened to Raph and Donnie during the invasion? Will the adults be worried about them? Since Raphael was the first to fall and Donatello died of krang infection?
Will Donatello perform his own health checks, subtle or unsubtle?

Summary:
Names were a complicated thing in the family, but also a source of pride. Names are how we define ourselves, our identity, to others. To a certain extent. It's natural for our perception of ourselves to change over time. Our turtles have more changes than most. 40 years with 4 turtles is a long time, a lot can change, a lot can happen. Here's an overview of these turtles and the names they've used as they've grown. or How Purple became Othello, how Orange became Mysticangelo, and how Blue became Leonidas.

Sometimes Brits forget that a massive portion of America has A LOT OF HEAT. There is no question if you live in the south you need cold drinks, and I know the weather is getting hotter over there too- maybe try the iced tea my good dudes.

The arm scars gave me such a hard time!!! And I forgot to put the scars on Othello's (future Donnie) left arm.
Thankfully, Rad (future Raph) does not have any scars. As drawing those along with all his numerous scars would be a nightmare.
Fun fact, Mystic (future Mikey) only has one external scar. All other injuries are internal and on the mystic side of things.
No, I did not use the wrong color on Nidas' (future Leo) facial stripes. They are suppose to be that shade.
Yes, Rad has hair and so does Othello. If Mystic can have hair why not the others and blame it on their human DNA from Splinter?
One of these days I'm going to do body refs of these skrunkly old men.

Notes: this chapter is almost entirely slice of life and set up for the series. and it's longer than the entire series so far! (previous chapter and bringing you with me) it's nearly TWICE as long with 25.7k words! Story Summary:
Future Don (Othello) wants to take care of Donnie. Donnie to take care of himself. Donnie wants his future self to please give him some attention even if it’s bad to stop ignoring him and to get some answers. They both do and don’t get what they wanted. And more than they bargained for. aka the Donnie and Othello story.
Series Summary:
When Leonardo is sent back to the past, he decides he's not going to live on and start a new life. Not without his family. So he brings his three brothers back from the dead! Now these turtles from the apocalypse must learn how to live in this world after so long and how to take care of their 5 new kids. With new lives, come new names: Leonidas, Mysticangelo, Othello, and Rad. Meanwhile, Donnie is hiding a lot more than insecurities.
Chapter Summary:
Donnie and Othello build the sleepshell. Bonding is unfortunately not a straight line.
Chapter TWarnings: trouble eating; miscommunication; internalized ableism, hand spasms; weird biology, animal instincts; talk of death; mentions of blood; medical inaccuracies; negative thinking patterns, mainly in the form of catastrophizing and personalization.

Despite the two working on it for hours, they did not finish project SADS in one day or even two. ... Overall things were going smoothly. This is what Othello would say, if it wasn't for two things getting in the way of their bonding time. ... For some yet unknown reason, every little thing Donnie did was pissing him off. ... It isn’t until they both reach to use the same tool and are physically snarling at each other and hissing, that it clicks. "Territory battles," Othello mutters in realization. Finding himself unable to stop baring his teeth, he turns away and marches out of the lab. ... "Othello?" comes Nidas' annoying voice as Othello passes. "What’s wro-"
"TERRITORY BATTLES!" Othello shrieks, throwing his arms up in anger as he storms towards his 'room'. (Four curtains dividing one of the train platforms with a mattress and desk in the middle wasn't a room.) He slams his curtain closed and begins pacing. He grinds his teeth and begins snapping his fingers, waving his arms to get out the restless energy. ... "So," Nidas begins, "that sucks. I don't think I can relate. I haven't had a real 'territory' in years and I think the parental instincts killed any territory instincts I had left."
Othello growls, shoving Nidas blindly. "I hate you. Live." That earns him a laugh from his dumdum twin. It was so nice to be able to hear him laugh again.
"I don't think that's how that expression goes."
"Ordering you to live is a much more effective curse," Othello retorts ......... Donnie doesn’t know what to do. When Othello left the lab... well he wouldn't say he panicked per se.... he had a perfectly normal stress response to the adrenaline leaving. He curled up in a ball and started rocking while biting his arm. ... He had messed up terribly and Othello had left. He drove him away. So he resolved to fix it.
End notes: the next story might be a while, and I think our next plan is to move onto the Leo story, so that's going backwards in the timeline. hope you enjoyed!

Donnie hasn't taken off his battle shell in the 2 weeks Othello has been in this time. He checked. They're going to talk about it. (and a lot more than that.)
Snippets:
It started out like this: Donnie hasn't slept more than 3 hours every other day since Othello came to this dimension. Donnie would barely leave his lab, constantly working on something. Donnie had barely eaten. Donnie hasn't taken his battle shell off in 2 weeks! Not even to sleep. So Othello planned to do something about it. Because even though he was almost as bad, he knew the importance of taking the shell off, of relaxing. The fact this 16 yr old- this kid who wasn’t living in the Apocalypse didn’t feel safe enough to take it off was concerning, to say the least.
So with all that in mind and not a lick of emotional intelligence to his name, Othello decided to confront the younger soft shell. Without telling the others. ....
He notices the smaller turtle tense in his chair as the locks slide into place. He doesn't turn around, doesn't stop fiddling with his latest device, but he's tense and agitated in his movements.
"You haven't taken your battle shell off in 2 weeks," Othello begins immediately. "Why."
The screens go wild. Uncontrolled glitching on all of them, every device in the lab whirling to life. Othello sees corrupted images but can't make sense of them before his visor lights up. Text, code, and numbers merge into gibberish on his screen. ... The doors unlocked. ... Donnie swivels to face him as if nothing had happened.
"And you have removed your tracker 7 times already!" he responds, clearly proud of his deflection.
End notes: Originally the story was going to be just this chapter but we kept building onto it and adding more scenes. so look forward to chapter 2!

finally finished this comic! started flushing out what my adult turtles would be like and me and @bloominglifedyinglife wrote out a small roleplay of Leonidas entering the peepaw multiverse, which i turned into a comic. first comic of the same concept but is techincally disconnected (coming soon) also an excuse to draw my Othello (future donnie) and Nidas (future leo) designs sorry if anyone seems ooc. But it does make me wonder. If Mikey isn't around to be the mystic master to open the portal, how would that change the outcome of the battle against the krang?
Mikey wouldn't constantly try to use his mystic hands, because Casey wouldn't have known about them.
This also means that they wouldn't know how to save Leo from the prison dimension.
Unless Donnie uses the tech of the shattered technodrome to create a portal opening. Or something.
First of all thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
I do like to think there'll be a happy ending, but that would probably mean that either Leo won't end up in the prison dimension at all and they find a different way to lock up the Krang, they stop the Krang at the start of the film or, as you already sorta mentioned, Casey motivates Donnie that he was able to build a time machine and he could use his ninpo to create a dimension portal, having both Mikey and Raph to support him and not fade like in the future.
I personally think quite a few things will change considering that Casey won't tell Leo he's the greatest ninja of all time. Perhaps that would lessen his need to proof himself to be a great leader and try to solve everything himself.
