It's Maclura pomifera, commonly known as the osage orange or hedge apple. It is known to be native only to a small area of Texas and the edge of Oklahoma and Arkansas. Before the invention of barbed wire, it was pruned repeatedly and shaped to make dense impenetrable hedges to contain animals.
The fruits are inedible—not poison, they're just hard and taste bad.
The wood is super-strong, burns hotter than any other wood, and is ideal for making bows!

FYI: Discord-Server
As already teased a few days ago, I have now actually created a Discord server. Its purpose is to have a closed circle of people who want to talk to me and/or get news about the stuff I’m doing. Additionally, I’m offering “lessons” there, where you can learn how to create CC. Since I only make clothing, my classes will also be all about that.
It is especially important to me that the server is a safe space for each person. Negative vibes are not welcome there and I will ban everyone that brings them on to the server. Therefore, you can only interact properly if you have been approved by me. There is a channel there where you should briefly introduce yourself and post your blog so you can get access to the rest of the server. My patrons have full access from the beginning if they have linked their Patreon account to Discord. The special roles of “Supporter” and “Supporter +” on the Discord server are now part of the benefits as a Patron. This gives access to an extra voice as well as text channel.
By the way, my first test lesson, where I explain all the basics of making CC, will take place on Sunday, October 30th at 6pm CEST. (This also functions as a test how many people are interested in general. Time and day will change regularly in the future, because timezones and such…)
