March:

he was never much of a fan of the holiday, or rather just didn't really care. he does like the weirdly creative commissions for Valentine's gifts be gets, however

but when it comes to you...

he devotes the rest of his free time crafting the perfect gift that perfectly encompasses just how much he loves you (which proves to be a daunting task, and spends hours pulling his hair out over it)

he's so stressed he can't even be bothered to get his hair redyed on Saturdays so his roots start to show

and when he finally presents his gift to you, mentally picking apart every imperfection, he swells with pride (and from the blood rushing to his head) as you shower him with praises and kisses

Reina:

she plans out a romantic picnic for just the two of you on the beach, complete with drinks of your choice

she even makes your favorite dessert, with cute on-theme decor that's artfully designed with care (it's almost too pretty to eat...)

somehow the weather is just perfect, with a warm breeze blowing around the two of you as you bask in the soft sunlight. she takes this opportunity to snap a few photos of the two of you, giving your photo a playful little peck

before the date ends she gasps and rushes into the inn, telling you to stay outside so the surprise isn't ruined--coming out to reveal a MASSIVE gift basket!

it's full of heart-shaped chocolates, cookies, and a hand-embroidered apron (the kiddos helped with the treats)

Balor:

he is totally one to spoil, so he spends most of his trips outside Mistria searching for the most gorgeous gifts for you--usually on the expensive side (but light as his pockets may be for awhile, it is all worth it for his love)

on the special day, he presents you with a million accessories and some specific rare items you've been talking about for ages, all while wearing a proud smirk

and it doesn't end there--

upon leading you to his wagon, he shows you inside to a charmingly decorated little nook. it looked a lot bigger from the inside, and the two of you cozy up inside

the shop is closed for the time being, and that just makes you wide open to his playful advances as you enjoy each other's company in his little hideout (it's cramped, i hope you like cuddling)

Juniper:

sends dozy out to deliver a letter to you, requesting your help with testing a "love potion"

spoiler alert, there is no love potion.

when you get there juniper is standing around rather bashfully and tells you it was just a ruse to get you there so she could get you to spend time with her (which she clearly did not need to do, but she is difficult)

she set up a romantic spa day in the bathhouse for the two of you, complete with a bottle of wine and the place all to yourselves

she tells you not to get used to such pampering, all while placing cucumbers over your eyes and doing your nails without question

not only do you leave the bathhouse feeling totally refreshed, you also wind up with a million purple lipstick stains

Eiland:

you find out about his date plans from a beautifully articulated love letter in your mailbox

procures a million chocolates and sweet treats to share with you (self-indulgent, but i digress)

he sets up a comfortable spot in the manor gardens for the two of you to relax all morning, surrounded by the scent of flowers and your lips covered in chocolate (which will not be a problem for long with him around)

will insist on reciting ancient mistrian love poems to you he's discovered during his research, especially the ones that remind him of you

if that's too much for you, it won't be too hard to distract him with a kiss or two for him to lose his spot on the page

Adeline:

she's so busy she almost forgot it was Valentine's Day. but fret not! she knows just how to spend it with you and she'd been thinking about it for awhile when she wasn't bogged down with paperwork

her first gift is a collection of sweetly written letters, enclosed in a stack of pale pink envelopes, that she made to ensure even when she's busy you'll have a pocket of her love waiting for you (just don't open them all at once!)

her second gift is a date with zero interruptions (a rarity with how work-oriented her brain is)

the two of you take a stroll around the town, catching up on anything you didn't have time to before, sharing sweet touches, and wishing the mundane domesticity of this moment could last forever

Ryis:

he doesn't do anything huge or crazy, as he believes in showering you with love every day of the year, but he DOES plan a heavy dose of quality time in the woods hand-in-hand

will carve your initials in a stump (corny, he is aware, but he likes the idea of eternalizing your love surrounded by nature's bounties)

you can also expect some sort of homemade, heart-shaped baked goods from him for the two of you to munch on during your stroll

somehow the two of you end up falling asleep sat under the tree you built a birdhouse in, heads rested up against each other, until you're woken up at sunset by your feathered friends

Valen:

thinks she's outgrown the holiday and isn't much of a fan, but that isn't to say she doesn't enjoy playing up her flirtatiousness to watch you squirm in the name of being festive

she invites you out for dinner at the inn, buying you whatever your heart (and stomach) desires. advises against a surplus of chocolate, but what she doesn't see you shove into your mouth won't hurt her...

finds ways to make you go beet red throughout the night, such as caressing your hand as she takes a sip of her wine or finding your leg under the table and brushing it with her shoe

teasing aside, she can't help but relish in your company even under such simple circumstances. she didn't need anything flashy or over-the-top to showcase her love for you. in fact, it was the simplest things that made her love you more.

Hayden:

will treat you to a whole day of sweetness, with the cherry on top being a fancy candlelit dinner in the comfort of his farmhouse home

he really pulls out all the stops, and even someone as snooty as Henrietta allows the spotlight to be on you during your stay (for the most part, anyway. hayden bribes her with treats)

he especially enjoys treating you like royalty as he becomes your waiter for the night, sporting his best look (which, really, can he look bad?) in the form of a loose button-down shirt and a tie that hadn't seen the light of day in years

after dinner, the two of you spend time cuddling in front of the fireplace with his big, strong arm wrapped tightly around your shoulders and nose nestled into your hair as he quietly whispers sweet nothings until sleep captures you both

Celine:

you'll exit your farmhouse that morning, blessed and mildly distressed by the amount of flowers and bouquets lining your front lawn

celine comes trotting to the pile with another basket of flowers in her hand, gripping it tighter in shock when she sees you--surprise!

you invite her inside and the two of you bake various flower-based desserts + teas, so much you wonder how you're going to consume them all in a timely fashion

the calming scent of all the blossoms manages to make you rather drowsy, ending up with the two of you taking a relaxing nap in bed with delicate sunbeams framing your faces

as for all the flowers that didn't get cooked, they can be found decorating your home for as long as they stay fresh

Caldarus:

isn't too familiar with the holiday, but finds the idea endearing and decides to play along so long as it puts that beautiful smile on your face

be cautious when he decides to make heart-shaped snacks over the fire--it's the thought that counts, so try not to think too hard on the burnt flavor

this kitchen blunder is made up for when he presents you with a handmade pair of earrings and/or necklace. the colors are reminiscent of the spring landscape in which you two met

he carefully puts his handiwork on you and his smile is enough to send you into cardiac arrest. what you don't notice, whilst distracted, is his tail swishing happily behind him as he admires you

I think Shane, when helping out with whatever animals you have on your farm, will almost always talk to them as if they can understand him. Chickens, rabbits, sheep, cows, your cat/dog, etc.

You have a folder in your phone’s photo gallery of photos you’ve taken of him with the animals, half of them were taken when he didn’t realize you were there.

ooooh so true! he has such a way with animals I really wouldn't doubt that

i think a physical photo album would be so cute as well, and imagining him stumbling upon that is very silly. imagine him sitting on the bed flipping pages and wondering when the hell you took all those photos. i just love physical media in general though

I humbly request jealousy headcanons for the bachelorettes. I just thought it’d be interesting to see how they’d express jealousy when someone gets a little too comfy with the farmer lol.

isn't typically the type to get jealous easily, but she hardly gets to see you. and suddenly when she does, you're with someone else. so of course she's going to envy whoever is occupying your time

will start asking you for help with mundane tasks she could very well do herself just so she can spend more time with you

even though you'll both be absorbed in your work, she can't help but enjoy the silent company

Reina:

she'll see you laughing extra hard talking to someone at the inn on Friday night and feel a pang of jealousy hit her in the gut.

she'll bring over your table's food and make an off-hand comment about it being extra busy that night, sending you a subtle glance paired with her usual sweet smile

usually after that you'll jump up and offer to help her in the kitchen and she'll have no further qualms

plus, now she gets you all to herself in the back. she'll just package up your food for later and put it on her tab

Celine:

i feel like she'd only get jealous in situations where her family is hogging you to themselves or someone new in town is just getting the slightest too comfortable with you

her solution is to tuck a flower behind your ear whenever she passes you and this new townie, just to make sure they take the hint

if the person persists, she will upgrade her methods with more and more flowers until you are basically the abominable flower monster and the stranger is just stunned speechless

you'll smell sweet for the rest of the season

Valen:

in her youth she probably would've done something a little rash to whisk her beloved away from unwanted company.

now, she finds a well-pointed scowl sends them away far more efficiently. it's something she tries not to let you see, lest you think badly of her

but is that going to stop her from scaring off pests? absolutely not. she tries not to let these types of things get to her though--after all, she's quite confident in her relationship with you (whatever that may be)

Juniper:

you do not want this woman jealous I will warn you now. it will not be pretty (but oh, will she be)

she's going to find a way to get this person alone and scare them half to death (maybe I'm over exaggerating...but they sure won't try anything again once she's done with em)

and don't think you're off the hook just because she's upset with whoever is occupying your attention

juniper will invite you out for a drink (dragging you by your ear) and chastise you over a glass of wine, all the while keeping you as close as possible and secretly relishing in your company

at first, he isn't big on showing affection in public. but part of him really didn't hate the idea of showing off someone so spectacular to the world and showering them with love in his own strange ways

likes to get very sneaky and place quick kisses to your cheek and back of your hands when you're not paying attention--some times it feels as if he materializes out of thin air just to kiss you

but, he isn't always so mysterious. when he has you all to himself, he makes his feelings very clear in the hungry way he kisses you. maybe if he didn't hold back so much in public he wouldn't be starving for your lips all the time

eventually, he finds it easier to give you sweet pecks in public when he realizes how much he's wanted that all along. he's a tough nut to crack but it's worth it for this

has a habit of tucking your hair behind your ear when kissing you, sometimes evolving into running his hand through it with varying intensity depending on his mood

Hayden:

this guy is a BIG fan of kissing. celebratory kisses, good morning kisses, good night kisses.....kisses really just for the love of the game.

and he's not shy about it either. it's just the cherry on top for his greetings whenever you cross paths, and there's no harm in letting everyone know how deeply in love he is with you

in the longer kisses, he sometimes finds himself laughing softly into your mouth because he's so enamoured. someone sedate this man

you can feel the tickle of his facial hair on your skin every time he swoops in

Ryis:

loves lifting you into the air sometimes for extra playful kisses

loves a good slow, passionate kiss that feels like a warm summer afternoon, even in the harshest of winters

it was never too difficult easing into the physical aspect of romance for him--although he can get a little shy if his uncle is around and starts teasing him for whatever reason

loves to wrap you in his arms while kissing like he never wants to stop, and he's so naturally warm that honestly it's hard TO stop because it's so comfortable.

if you two end up sleeping in the same bed or napping in the forest, he has a habit of peppering very sleepy kisses all over your face upon waking up. who needs an alarm when you have him?

has a mental battle with each kiss because what if someone sees and suddenly his (see-through) tough guy façade is broken!? (you are fooling no one, March)

eventually he doesn't care anymore and will kiss you in front of others, but nothing TOO intimate

^ unless he's drunk, in which his embarrassment melts away and he becomes a little lovebug

his lips can get chapped from the forge so invest in a very nice lip balm at the Saturday market. i think he would prefer a very subdued flavor, maybe something honey-like

sometimes you can taste the hint of soot on his lips, which isn't all that pleasant. it does give you the opportunity to wipe away any from his lips and watch him squirm though

he can be quite the gentle kisser, but if work is particularly frustrating that day (you know, like making hundreds of nails) he might pull you off to the side and turn that frustration into passion

Caldarus:

being the grand beast he is, even in his humanoid form, he worries about how delicate you are as a human--his kisses are incredibly gentle and soft

sometimes, however, he forgets his own strength

he isn't constantly planting kisses all over you, he likes to carefully dot them throughout the day to savor your love better

as he's so tall, he often has to bend down to kiss you. in the beginning he took awhile to find the best way to go about this dilemma, and he opted for sitting you down on a higher surface to spare his neck the pain (but of course, he wouldn't mind the pain too much if it meant being with you)

you can sometimes feel the graze of his fangs on your lower lip

if you ever kiss his statue while on the farm, his physical form can feel it even from so far away. it's like a tickle, a barely-there sensation, but it makes his heart flutter regardless

he has no fucking clue what that thing is. however, it does look edible--do not let him get poisoned.

once he's informed of the decoration's purpose, he doesn't really understand why it's such a big deal.

"what's the point in that? if you wanna kiss someone you should just go for it instead of putting up this dumb bunch of leaves!"

and honestly, he's right. so you gesture to your cheek, tapping it with your pointer finger, waiting for him to catch the hint

he catches your drift and glances around before peppering a million kisses on your face until you're laughing so hard your cheeks hurt

Gray:

he is too cool to admit how incredibly flustered he is by this predicament. all the chaos is internalized for the most part (the rest takes form as beads of sweat running down his very pink face)

"i...uh...we don't need to if you don't want to"

(he really really wants to)

after very little persuasion, or a lot if he's feeling extra, he'll cup your face in the palm of his hand and plant a chaste kiss on the corner of your mouth

he's too flustered to re-aim and try again.

Lucy:

she is a blushing mess, but also kind of giddy that a classic christmas trope is happening to HER

her internal monologue is going at a steady 150 words per minute.

"well...I won't say I'm against it" is what she says, but what she really means is "oh my god I've been waiting for this moment my whole life, all my reading will pay off for this exact moment"

albeit nervous, she WILL close her eyes and lean in with anticipation until your lips meet in a short but sweet kiss on the lips

Erza:

she offers to cut it down with her blade if that is what you wish (a little dramatic, but considerate of your feelings nonetheless)

upon the realization that you DO want to kiss her, she loses the knightly attitude and goes red (some would say scarlet.) she isn't used to this sort of thing, let alone with someone she adores

she wants to say how honored she would be to kiss you, but of course it comes out more like alphabet soup

she'll close her eyes and bite back her doubts and nerves and place her hand on the nape of your neck before leaning in for a strangely passionate kiss that she doesn't realize is passionate until the moment passes

can you tell how experienced she is

Cana:

she'll give you a sly smile, probably the one who led you underneath the mistletoe in the first place. she likes messing with you and doesn't actually expect you to follow through (as much as she'd enjoy that)

but to her delight, you were well aware of the mistletoe when you two met beneath the doorway--meaning you both intended for this to happen

"getting a little brave, are we? don't worry, i don't bite"

she'll plant a brief, barely-there kiss to the corner of your mouth to tease you and leave you wanting more

Loke:

he was 100% the one who placed that. in fact, he probably put one in every doorway in the guild hall if juvia didn't make it there first.

"what are the odds that it'd be me you'd meet under the mistletoe? must be a stroke of fate."

awkwardly tussels his hair when you tell him you know it was him, but that doesn't dim his charm

"but you're still here, right?"

he leans in only slightly, raising his eyebrows at you until you decide to make your move--after that, it's hard to detach him

Laxus:

isn't one to get holly and jolly, but he's willing to look past that for a chance to lock lips with his (secretly?) favorite person. the mistletoe is merely a bridge to do so, and if it takes being a little lame then so be it

he doesn't actively acknowledge the mistletoe when it's just you two beneath it, but his eyes send you electric-charged signals that are very hard to miss

when you speak up about the mistletoe and his non-subtle gaze he acts like he has no idea what you're talking about, but he can't help the fanged smile that curls around his mouth

"if you want a kiss then just say that. it's part of the job to help the desperate and needy."

Juvia:

battled with loke to put mistletoe everywhere. she was NOT going to miss an opportunity for a romantic true love's kiss on Christmas

so she is beyond delighted when her beloved (you) finally gets "stuck" there with her. she already has her lip gloss at the ready

"I've never been under the mistletoe with anyone before...I'm so glad it gets to be with you. ah--if that's what you wish, i suppose"

her eyes flutter wide open when your lips meet hers for a brief moment, and she couldn't be more flushed. she might just faint, get this girl a stretcher

Gajeel:

he scoffs and acts like it's the dumbest thing in the world that he would rather die than comply with. of course, the red tint to his ears says otherwise

"hmph. i wouldn't have expected you to follow this dumb ass tradition. I'm gonna arrest whatever idiot put this up."

whilst saying this, though, he's probably leaning into the wall behind you and averting his eyes.

"that said, if you really just have to kiss whoever you end up with down here, I won't put up a fight. better me than some of the others in here."

he'd let you pull his face in for a (disgustingly) sweet kiss that makes him struggle to keep a straight face.

i think it's bc when I started writing for fields of mistria I wasn't sure if caldarus was an official dateable (like I kinda knew but also was too lazy to fact check) so I just didn't include him with the bachelors

Celine:

loves peppering kisses all over your face, as if she won't be able to for at least a hundred years!

her lips are always incredibly soft (what is her routine?!)

kissing celine for the first time is like right out of a fairy tale <3 she's so gentle and sweet in how she holds you, and the calm breeze in her hair as well as the sunshine glimmering in her eyes just about makes you melt on the spot

loves interlocking hands and planting sweet kisses on your fingertips

she tries not to kiss you in front of family--dell LOUDLY expresses her disgust, and holt manages to pull a pun out of his ass and ruin the moment (love you holt)

i feel like she would frequently use strawberry chapstick, or maybe raspberry

guilty of giggling into kisses like a ball of sunshine and flushing bright pink

Eiland:

when she sends you letters, she makes sure to seal them with a kiss each time before placing them in your mailbox (and gets super shy if you catch her in the act)

he's never too quick with his advances, slowly bringing his lips to your cheek or your lips with a fond little shimmer in his eyes

he could be a little bashful in the beginning (especially the first few kisses)

when you kiss eiland for the first time, he's worried about a million things at once ("am I doing this right? i hope they're not allergic to whatever was in that cake I ate ten minutes ago")

but over time it comes naturally to him, and he doesn't have to think twice when pulling you in for seconds

of course, he tastes like sugar, spice, and everything nice. it's like a guessing game every time you lock lips. What Treat Did Eiland Inhale Today?

while kissing, eiland tends to place his hand on your lower back. he's quite partial to gently holding your hand to his chest as well

he's a gentleman AND a noble, so expect kisses to the back of your hand and a cute bow to accompany if he's feeling extra cute that day

will kiss you if he comes across a new discovery that he's super excited about (will probably run off without another word though, one-track mind)

as he travels constantly for work, he knows enough sign language to get by (and is always looking to improve!)

^ enjoys learning new signs from you during your conversations, which are usually over drinks at the inn

if you prefer the notebook method, I can see Balor going out of his way to hunt down nice stationary that suits your style

when he hears your voice for the first time, he'd be taken aback for a second but will quickly bounce back with something annoyingly witty

Hayden:

he will probably do a majority of the yapping anyway, but he wears a very polite smile while waiting for your replies

will keep the animals from chewing on your notebook when you're not looking (it's a surprisingly common problem)

upon hearing your voice, the biggest of smiles will reach his eyes as he processes what he heard. you'd have thought it was his birthday

bonus: henrietta and you have mastered the art of communicating through facial expressions (and she is very sassy with it)

Ryis:

if you opt for writing to communicate, I can see him admiring your handwriting (he has complete chicken-scratch--if you both have bad handwriting, I'm sure you'd bond over that too)

likes doodling in your notebook (w/ permission)

when he hears your voice for the first time, expect honey-toned compliments thrown your way. he can't help but be a gentleman unfortunately

encourages his uncle landen to learn sign with him!

Eiland:

i think he would be well-versed in sign language! he makes each conversation easy and comfortable

he doesn't mind the silence, because what's more calming than hanging out side-by-side as you silently do your own thing together

when he hears your voice for the first time it doesn't even register that you're speaking out loud for a minute and he keeps the conversation going (once he realizes though he will whip his head around to blink at you curiously, wondering if he imagined it)

i also think he would have an appreciation for the written word, and enjoys picking out the nuances and bits of personality laced in the way you write (and the way you sign!)

March:

isn’t really phased after the initial surprise, and will argue with you all the same (waiting with a grumpy but patient(?) stance for you to write/sign out your next response)

will learn sign language in secret (because he's a perfectionist) but i’m sure olric would let it slip to you one way or another.

when he hears your voice for the first time, he's stunned into silence and honestly forgets how to function (if it happens mid banter/argument, I can safely say you win this time)

whenever he sees you next, however, things fall back into place pretty quickly

none of them will pressure you to use your voice more, but they certainly enjoy meeting a new part of you!

she's definitely been influenced by her parents, because she's all over you in the kitchen!

sometimes, out of nowhere, you'll turn around only to have a sample of food shoved in your mouth for taste testing

no sitting on counters for a quick make out session, though, that's very unsanitary. well, maybe after closing...

speaking of closing! she loves to listen to some music while you clean up for the night, sometimes pulling you in for a quick dance

dozy may not allow wine in the bath, but he never said anything about flirting (to my knowledge)

juniper loves setting up the most romantic date nights in the bathhouse--candles, rose petals, and bath bombs (the works)

she has a special sign for the door to the bath for date nights, no one's walked in yet! (you've never seen it, but you can only assume it is threatening)

she loves to make a big show of things, but if you praise her for it expect a lot of flustered dismissiveness

in the bath, she'll have her arms wrapped around your neck with a smile full of pride

also, in a way, you being her little test subject is her way of flirting

she finds your willingness to help so adorable, and is sure to reward you later for your cooperation with her stunts
