**I need to have a bigger yap about redacted. **
TW. Serious topics, vampiric turning etc
I only recently realised how big of an impact the vampiric world has on the entire storyline and on many characters individually (Sam, Vincent, Lovely, Darlin, Dreamer, Theo)
I know i probably should have had this realisation some time ago, but given everything that happened in the redacted verse recently, I only now kinda connected the dots.
The vampiric world is involved in many stories, both bc the characters in them are vampires, but also in stories where vampires had some kind of an impact on a specific character.
Sam being unwillingly turned by Alexis.
William turning Vincent even though he swore he would never have a progeny again (swore that after turning Alexis)
Lovely being turned during the events of the Inversion (where we know the vampiric world also had involvement in bc of one of the houses financially funding CloseKnits work).
Lovely really showed what’s being involved with a vampiric world is like. Their story showed what it can do to a person who’s unaware. It left them with so much trauma, going from the entire event of being kidnapped to discovering they’re empowered to being turned into a vampire. They are literally a victim of the vampiric world. At least that’s how I see it.
Theo’s story also shows what’s being involved with vampires is like, but from the inside perspective.
There’s also a matter of Quinn who had involvement in both Darlin’s story and Dreamer’s. It led Dreamer to want to awaken their powers which led to a series of events that left them traumatised and its still being actively shown, most likely leading to something.
The vampiric world is very different from any other magical species, because in order to get them under the government’s order, they had to make a deal, giving the vampires some sort of autonomy of how they operate. They get to have their own ruling on things they get their hands on first. They have more freedom in order to keep them contained, but are they really?
The entire game is being played mostly by the vampires.
Sam and Vincent were pretty much sheltered from the reality of it until the summit, where they saw the reality of it.
The scene where Sam asks William about the possibility of being wrong is very important, because William says he wouldn’t be wrong.
That’s going to be his downfall.
William doesn’t see how Porter would not agree or not comply with given orders. Porter admits to Treasure that he does have doubts about doing the right thing… or is he doing the wrong thing?
The doubts are eating at him and the king is sure of what he’s doing, even though the sword, the weapon of his orders has doubts. I have a feeling Porter might regain his freedom at some point. Or Im hoping he does. But if he does, this is going to put William in a very VERY bad position.
His house is already weakening after Sam, Vincent and Lovely left it.
William knows it hence why he warned the pack of the danger. Something WILL happen.
Not saying William is entirely a bad man, he does things his own way and he did eliminate some Closeknit’s funders, but the way he is going about this will eventually bite him back. The consequences are already slowly catching up.
But what about Treasure? They are indirectly involved in all of this through Porter, which is William’s right hand. This is going to put them in extreme danger, given the other houses are looking in Solaire’s house direction, after the entire fiasco of a summit.
The consequences are coming and I feel like William might find himself in a really bad position once shit hits the fan.
Lovely’s story showed what the vampiric world can do to a human, so I’m fearing for what is going to happen to Treasure, because they are the biggest target I fear. They are somehow aware of some stuff, but they don’t know 100% how it all operates and such. They aren’t a vampire, hence they don’t have the knowledge to prepare themselves for what’s coming in any way. I feel like Porter might reach out for help in keeping an “eye” on them, involving Lovely and Vincent (for Lovely it might be more of a personal matter, because they know first hand how cruel the vampiric world can be). I feel like Lovely and Treasure are parallels to each other in a way.
No idea if I make any sense, I just needed to get it out there and I’m not best at framing my thoughts and yaps into coherent sentences, but I hope I at least make a little bit of sense.
I’m aware it’s not all vampires behind all of the events, but they do have a huge involvement in a lot of past events, which makes me wonder if they are the flaw in the system. But again, what can be done if the vampires are such powerful species and the department is stretched thin as it is? They can just try and prevent the vampires from completely going off rails, even if it means playing whatever game the vampires are playing. And not all vampires are bad.
