Boys Republic Concert 07.07.15 in Cologne

I arrived at the venue just in time at 5:30pm and got my VIP-ticket. After that I stood in line with all the girls. There was no special dresscode among the K-pop fans. Everyone wore their summer clothes.

Meet and Greet

The VIP-line soon got inside. The venue was very small and so was the stage. The Boys stood in line in front of the stage wearing suits. The first thing I noticed was how they are even more handsome in real life. They are not very tall and quite skinny, especially Minsu and Suwoong.

A girl told me I could walk up to them and it was very sudden for me. And didn’t have the time to observe the situation or think about what to do or say.

Onejun was the first in Line. I looked up to him and took my hand with a warm smile  and said “Hello, nice to meet you. Thank you for coming.”

Next was Minsu. This was to early for me to comprehend. I was not courageous enough to take his hand with both of my hands, because I was so shy. He was very polite and smiled.

Than came Sungjun. He was also very welcoming and took my hand with both of his warm hands and I did the same, which seemed to surprise him now.

Suwoong had a kind smile and I did the same with him as with Sungjun saying: “Hello, nice to meet you.” His brown eyes ware so sparkly and amazing.

Last was Sunwoo, who is taller than the others and was also very nice.

It all went by really fast and I was to nervous to ask them anything or to hug them, but my heart was beating really fast after this.

Rehearsal

After the meet and greet we were waiting for the Rehearsal. The VIP’s and Premium-ticket owners gathered in front of the stage. They performed two songs including “Hello”. It went by really fast. I was really glad and lucky that I could stand in the second row and had a good view on the stage.

The Concert

The concert begann around 10:00pm and I could see them perform up close. For me that was the most amazing part. Their dance performance was really good! After a few group performances the individual songs came and we learned to call them out for their performance in korean.

All of them performed a song that they personally liked and it was really beautiful to here them sing live.

Sunwoo had and angelic voice totally fitting his song of choice “Angels” by Robie Williams. During the whole concert he smiled a lot and made hearts to the fans. It was very cute.

Suwoong sang his song “Come Fly With Me“ by Frank Sinatra very well. It was a really enjoyable performance. He did a lot of Fanservice thruought the concert – everything you could imagine, like making eye contact and smiling, walking around the stage and getting so close, he was face to face with the fans. He even knelled on stage to sing for some lucky individuals and don’t forget the hearts – he really did all of it!

Onejun sang and played the keyboard. There were some funny moments where the mic would not stay in place or he did press something on the keyboard by accident. He reacted to the fans shoutout “You are handsome/cute!” saying “I’m cute.” in a childlike voice. He sang a ballad and than introduced “Haru Haru” by BigBang as his second song. A lot of fans sang along to it and it was really a beautiful interpretation of the song. Onejun also smiled a lot and came close to the fans to sing for them face to face.

Minsu and Sunjun performed as a rap duo. They came out wearing machting adidias track suits. It started out with Jay Parks “6′7 Remix”, which is really dope. I’m not sure, if they had their own lyrics to it. Next they did “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson, which was a total partysong! They were jumping around and all over the stage, danced together and it was so much fun watch.

Sungjun is very cool and outgoing and with his smile he totally wins your heart. Seeing him perform was a lot fun during the concert. He also walked up to the crowd and I could touch his hand while he reached out to us.

Minsu is very concentrated while performing. He looks into the crowd, but mostly into the distance. He smiles and laughes here and there and makes brief eye contact. Still I got to touch his hand during one of the songs. He looked the most happy during his duet with Sungjun, Party Rock and L.I.U.

During the breaks they showed some TV-appeariances, fan events and the L.I.U. music video.

Video Game and Dress Up were really cool. I was totally looking forward to see these songs performed live. After that it was time for the encore. They came back on stage with their tour-shirts on. Suwoong took a photo of the crowd and Boys Republic with a selfie-stick. After that we were also photographed by the staff to make this concert a nice memory. At around 10:00pm it was already time to say Goodbye to the Boys.

Summary

The Boys Republic concert was a very memorable experience and totally worth it with all the interaction with the fans going on! Standing at the front was the best and there was no pushing from behind. I enjoyed my first Kpop concert a whole lot and definitely went out with huge smile on my face. I will stay tuned for future concerts and Boys Republic. <3
