PFFFFFFFā IM SCREAMING, THIS IS HILARIOUS
Left is MY FIC, right is the ACTUAL BOOK QUOTE IT WAS INSPIRED BY
(Mask context: masquerade ball / cinderella au)
It has been doing numbers EVERYWHERE and I only found out from this lovely person who commented on Ao3:
So yeah I guess if anyone wants to read an 8 year old Song of Achilles fanfic written in a fever dream after watching Into The Woods, be my guest
One of my co-workers has a standing desk that he uses sitting down. It looks like this

Friendly reminder to listen VERY VERY CRITICALLY if someone tries to convince you not to register for federal disaster assistance following a declared disaster. Helene is still moving north and I see the usual rants picking up steam already.
That person trying to win social commentary points online is not your friend. That person canāt give you funds for house repair or to restock on food and meds. And if they say they can - that is a scammer and not someone you can trust.
Scammers and developers trying to take advantage after a disaster intentionally spread rumors/misinformation to convince survivors not to apply for federal disaster assistance. Many well meaning people pick this misinformation up and spread it further without understanding how the assistance process works. Itās happened more and more over the years and it will happen with Helene.
If you do not apply for assistance, you lose the chance to receive federal funds. APPLY APPLY APPLY. This doesnāt guarantee you will meet eligibility requirements, but you definitely canāt meet them if you donāt apply. The application process isnāt perfect but it continues to be updated - and was updated in 2024!! - to try and make it easier for survivors. If you have damages or lost power for an extended time, APPLY.
You can check on FEMA.gov or with local news to see when disaster recovery centers will open, how long the application period will last, and what information youāll need when applying.
their asses are NOT seeking!!!

Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you donāt like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lolĀ
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and weād really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ānoā and āOTPā and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one personās kink may be another personās squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And Thatās Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Donāt Like, Donāt Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A ālive and let liveā philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesnāt want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creatorās.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individualās personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what theyāre designing.
(definitions lifted more or less wholesale from fanloreās relevant pages)
bring the healthy fun back to fandom!
