A lot of authors really struggle to depict enemies or even rivals to lovers and end up mistaking bickering for hate.

I'm on chapter 7 of Gideon the Ninth and I'm like 80% sure that Gideon/Harrow is the future romance but Muir did a really good job at making them genuinely hate each other. This isn't light bickering. This is "if I could get away with it I would've killed you already." I'm into it.

Also I like that Harrow isn't like. Hot. She's not pretty and dainty, she's gaunt and looks like a walking corpse. Very nice.
