unfortunate truth of reality is that oftentimes 15 year olds will say/do/believe some stupid bullshit because they are 15 but telling them that they believe that because they are 15 is probably the most counterproductive thing in the entire universe

I consider myself a real hater but sometimes you really do go too far with haterism. once I had to break mutuals with someone bc they hated the entire art form of poetry and the final straw was when they started hateposting about soup. The food
"grackle" really is a perfect name for a bird. knocked it out of the park w/ that one
Damn. That really is a grackle.
"We're not supposed to be honest when people ask us how we are?"
Uhm.. Actually, you can be. There's a lot of people who are honest when answering that question. They just do it in ways that don't come across so upsetting or depressing.
Many people sugarcoat their answers to be more palatable for a greeting, or for a start of a conversation. It can also just be a polite way of giving others an out for a potential depressing conversation they may not want to be a part of.
These responses usually come in forms like, - "How are you?/How's it going?" - "Could be better." "It's definitely going." "I'm still alive." "I'm getting there." "New day, new problems." "Well, I'm still here." "Same old." "It's not all sunshine." "It's moving along". "It is what it is." "Not great but I'll survive." "Hoping tomorrow comes quickly." And many more responses like this. These are all ways of basically saying "Things are kinda/very shit at the moment for me". But they just don't go into detail about it. They are being honest, without the extra information.
If the other person doesn't want to go further into this then they may just responed with something like "I feel you", or "That's relatable", or "Yeh, that's life". Which are basically ways of saying "I acknowledge things aren't easy right now", without having to go into a conversation about it. Not everyone has the emotional energy to deal with conversations like that in that moment and that's okay.
Honesty doesn't need to come with the extra information. A lot of people won't give the extra information and that's the difference.
it really is kind of interesting how attached people are to the idea of the improvised line and the genuine reaction in film. nearly every single famous moment or line has some sort of claim floating around that it wasn't in the script and was either made up on the spot by an actor or was sprung as a surprise on the actors to get their 'real' reaction. you know, sometimes people do come up with good lines in advance and write them down, and sometimes people can pretend to be have a convincing emotional response on screen
back when it was David attenboroughs 100th birthday a few months ago I saw a comment which has lived in my brain ever since. it was an instagram post by like the bbc or some other similar org wishing him a happy birthday and the commenter was like "I have a theory that God saw people weren't appreciating His creations. So He came to earth in the body of Attenborough so He could show them how great all of the creatures in the world are through his documentaries :) :) :)"
from the way it was typed it was clearly just supposed to be a goofy little cute thought. probably from a middle aged person lol. but its nuts. its so nuts. They basically just invented a new theology. In 1926 God manifested on earth as a British guy. Attenborough is a divine being. and he is using his infinite power to narrate nature documentaries and also run BBC Two for a little bit in the 60s.
I have. A lot of Questions about this.
Whenever people are like “you just have to struggle through the first season of Buffy, you gotta get through the first season of Buffy, I promise it gets better, just wait until the hot blonde vampire shows up” im always like 1) skill issue 2) skill issue 3) skill issue 4) skill issue 5) the show gets good when Buffy shows up, hope that helps

on a regular basis my mom sends me links to academic jobs that I absolutely am not qualified for. like topics I didn't even take in high school let alone undergrad/grad school. no relation at all to any work I have ever done. but then this morning she decided to change it up and sent me a link to an article about how early-career academics are leaving academia in droves. No further comment from her just the link. ok mother thank u very helpful
