Something about the bastardization of the story time and time again proves that nobody in power really cares about the people who would resonate with King’s Carrie White. A girl so ugly and repulsive she’s been removed from her own story. Never forget how she went and spoke to trans women / trans fems and when she said something that was ignorant (she mentioned the expectation for them to shave), she listened when they corrected her and apologized immediately. Then, when the group explained how they express gender, she went "I understand" and continued to listen and learn.

She's always one of my favorite examples of someone with celebrity status retaining humanity and speaking up for minorities.
