“You think I’m scary? Scary how? Scary like a dracula?”

We should let anybody come into any space or movement they want. People should be allowed to call themselves anything they want, and if they don’t fit the definition, we should just change the definition. We should divorce all movements, spaces, art, culture, history, and language from their original context, because everyone needs to be allowed to be everything, and inclusivity is holiest amongst all things, even if that means the destruction of entire communities, political frameworks, neighborhoods, and artistic movements.
^ what you dumb motherfuckers are saying every time you complain about “gatekeeping”
The generational collapse in literacy is measurable, persistent, and likely to get worse.
this is making me panic how do we raise children in this educational & tech environment
“In July 2025, the journalist Mary Harrington argued in The New York Times that “thinking is becoming a luxury good.” The ability to read deeply and reason at length is fragmenting along class lines as ultra-processed digital media replaces text in everyday life, much as ultra-processed food has replaced cooking. Her longer treatment of the subject in First Things makes the more provocative case that we are witnessing the end of print culture itself, and with it the end of the cognitive substrate on which modern liberal democracy was built.
I see this stratification in the classroom and on the page every week. My students from districts that protected sustained reading through small class sizes, strict phone policies, and faculty who refused to teach to the test all arrive with their attention relatively intact. My students from districts that surrendered to devices and standardized testing arrive cognitively winded. A democracy that requires a literate electorate is now training one fraction of that electorate out of literacy while marketing to the other a “deep work” lifestyle as a luxury good. The students who cannot read a 20-page article today are the voters who will not be able to read a bill, or the jurors who cannot follow a closing argument, tomorrow.”
I have been banging this particular drum for a while now… the rich kids are going to get low-tech educations that prioritize critical thinking and deep engagement. the poorer kids are going to get “career readiness” training that urges them to use AI for everything and to give up on the hard work of sustained engagement with ideas
people foolishly dismiss desserts and treats as having no nutritional value when they actually are necessary for refilling your sanity stat. to prove my point please observe the emotional stability of the next person you meet who doesnt let themselves ever eat any form of dessert

This match is fucking stupid, FIFA is so in the bag for Argentina it’s not even funny. What the fuck is a red card for mistaken identity. God forbid Messi isn’t in the final. Like every day FIFA gets more corrupt
my toddler is 3 years old and wont eat anything other than fine porterhouse steaks and sweet port wine
you need to discipline your child. port is a horrible choice for the main course and wildly clashes with a rich béarnaise.
dude hes three….
And uncultured. Get a new child
kind of insane to think that within a decade or so, being able to write well without the aid of any generative AI at all is going to be an endangered skill. all my girls promise you’ll stay posting organic homegrown bullshit on this website so your brains won’t fall out of practice!!!
I was walking in Williamsburg today and saw a dog by a statue of James Monroe circling and sniffing and I started chanting, piss on it, piss on it in the hopes of manifesting it. He didn’t but there was a stain on the base where it looked like a previous dog had. I hate James Monroe.
