@bravelittlenippa
Did the scholars of Alexandria felt the same horror and dread when the first flames went up as I do whenever I see the cloud fare error?
I'm not sure. I only know that I am so so grateful for everyone volunteering and saving AO3 whenever the smoke rises.
Thank you!

loudly going "YOU'RE GOOD YOU'RE GOOD" to myself to ward off the memory of every embarrassing thing i've ever done
I actually learned a fun therapy trick for this!
The statute of limitations on arson is 6 years.
So whenever I remember an embarrassing or shameful thing I’ve done, I ask myself if it was worse than arson. If it wasn’t, and it was 6 or more years ago, I forgive myself.
Also just the comedic shock of going “well, that was a stupid and mean thing I said, but 6 years is the statute of limitations on arson” helps.
That's an amazing idea!
... but now I'm also thinking of arson
Day two of wondering why the town doctor keeps a vat of ominous cartoon-green acid and a tub ready for nefarious things in his basement...
Why is this such a normal thing that when Martha cooks up the plan she's like "oh yeah, and he has the acid and tub in his basement, that'll be handy to get rid of the body" ?
Can it be the place where the Jeremy Renner hot sauce is being made... By Jeremy Renner lookalike Doctor Nat Sharp?
And everyone's just okay with it?
Still wondering what is up with that vat... Where did he get it from? Is there a big "buy cartoon green acid" store near that town? Did he order it online? What did the delivery guys say when they brought it? Did he pay them extra so they will take it downstairs all those stairs he later got to sledge down headfirst?
...forgive me, Grace.
Look at this beautiful, haunting art!

I understand there are a lot to inspect and talk about in this movie, but...
Why does nobody talk about the fact that the fucking town doctor has a whole vat of ominous green acid and a tub ready in his basement?
Happy It's December 10th, everyone!
I want to hit all my mental issues in the head with a big ass candycane...

My special skill with my love of learning, some basic language skills in foregin languages, the unlimited potential of the internet, and the technically undiagnosed but definitely-on-the-verge-or-at-least-in-the-flavour-profile-of-ADHD is:
I can get very passionate about most anything. And I mean ANYTHING.
Now the great thing about this is that I can learn everything is there about to learn for ANYTHING. I can literally become a rocket scientist overnight with the help of the internet, some caffeine and some good old-fashioned hyperfixation.
The downside of this very special skill is that I'm not at all in control of what my brain thinks it's worth investing time and energy into.
You see, it has to tickle my fancy and when it's over and the fancy is not tickled anymore, it's over. I don't make the rules.
I could become a doctor, a scientist, a stock-market analyst, or just a cool "specialist" of a cool subject or field.
But I guess tonight I will learn anything that there is to learn about the perfect crochet stitches despite only taking up a crotchet hook for the first time.
Sweet Tooth
When I was a child, as most kids my age, I didn't have my own money, or my own time... I certainly didn't have any agency of my own. Freedom was a thing only adults around me seemed to have. (I did have responsibilities, though, real adult ones that made me feel good about myself.)
So, with the wisdom of any ten-year old, I made a deal with my adult self.
When I grow up (if I ever get to grow up), I shall have my own money, my own time, and above all; agency. So with all that unimaginable power, I shall grant myself the permission to buy all the candy I wish to have.
I grew up, though it was mostly an accident - but 70% of the time I'm glad it happened.
I have my own money and my time to spend it however I wish, and all the agency of the world which sometimes petrifies me with fear.
I still have those adult responsibilities, though they don't usually make me feel good about myself anymore. (But at least I have routine in them now.)
It's strange that you can keep things like this for so long. Your memories of young age, your sweet tooth, even promises you made with yourself.
I keep it, I keep that promise my kid self made with myself - and sometimes I realise how wise that child-me truly was.
Because I still have my sweet tooth. And when life gets hard and the world turns grey and the taste of food is naught but ashes in my mouth - that kid in me reminds me that I can get all the candy I wish to have.
And even if I can't taste the sweetness today, I know when the ashen taste of life and the greyness of the world and the numbness of my dull-heart will eventually pass (as it always passes, even when I truly doubt it will) - all that candy will taste like how I imagine freedom tastes like.
Sweet.
