I'm never substitute teaching again.
Oh… Okay… I hope you get to substitute in our class more often though, you were excellent!
That's very kind, Ryder. Hopefully if I do this again, I'll be used to this.

I'm never substitute teaching again.
That’s no good, what happened Brian?
You do know how teenagers treat substitute teachers, right?
I'm never substitute teaching again.
Ouch. Was it just for the day?
I don’t believe we have. I’m Daisy.
A week. A very, very long week.
Nice to meet you, Daisy. What do you do?
I'm never substitute teaching again.
It does?
I have a- a friend. He’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met before.
I know plenty of kids that actually enjoy school.
A friend? Sound's nice. Good to know you're getting to get out more.
I'm never substitute teaching again.
What grade?
Teacher I was covering for taught 'em all. High school level, though. English.
Sorry, I don't believe we've met. I'm Brian.
I'm never substitute teaching again.
I like Ms. LePell but… I don’t know, I think you’re a much better teacher… Aw, c’mon. They’re not that bad. You get used to them after a while.
Ryder, while I'm flattered, I have no credentials. I was just lucky that you guys were on Romeo and Juliet. A friend had me reread that recently. Besides, I like my job.
I know they're not all that bad. But lots of kids find a substitute teacher to be an excuse to slack off or act out.
I'm never substitute teaching again.
High school doesn’t sound like a very pleasant place.Â
I’m fine… I’ve been better and I’ve been worse, but things seem to be looking up.Â
It has its ups and downs.
Looking up? That's always nice to hear. Any particular reason?
I'm never substitute teaching again.
But, Mr. LaPierre, you were great! I wish you could be our teacher for the whole year!
But Ms. LePell's better now, and anyways, I think I might have ended up halfway up the flagpole if I'd stayed much longer. Your classmates are vicious.
I'm never substitute teaching again.
I thought you were a counsellor… Not a teacher.Â
Teacher was sick and they couldn't get ahold of any of the normal substitutes, so I volunteered. Big mistake. Being a substitute teacher, it's pretty much like wearing a giant "Kick Me" sign the whole day.
Anyways, how are you, Sally?
I'm never substitute teaching again.
It's a bloody nightmare.
Um...
That’s, um… That’s good… I suppose.
How... um... are you? He doesn't um... bother you anymore, does he?
Bloody delinquents.
Making my life fucking miserable…
Sally! Lovely to see you again. What's wrong?
"I-I wasn't wrong was I?"
"Y-you know him?"
Unfortunately, yes. He bullied my friends in high school and I- well, I didn't always prefer to solve things nonviolently.
Would you like to swing on a star..
Oh, what do you do?
I'm a guidance counselor at the high school.
I'm Brian LaPierre. Who might you be?
I'm exhausted.
Well at least now you have a plan.
Not a very good one. I still need a way to fall asleep.
Would you like to swing on a star..
Carry moonbeams home in a jar….
Oh! That's one of my favorites. Rather appropriate, for my work.
Oh sorry...
And it’s the way it makes sense. Oh I love to cook, trying new recipes and all that, but I think baking would be my favorite thing.
I don’t know much about the topic, but your technic sounds very logical. I think most of us forget what a critical age that is, we all were teenagers once, and at some point all we wanted was to stop being treated as children.Â
That's a hobby I can appreciate, though I'll admit that I'm far better at the consumption of it.
Exactly. They just need to be listened to.
