We'll I know I've been absent posting but... that's not to say that I haven't been grinding! This part II of the video log shedding some light on our musical and show process.
The Makers of Sense are preparing a new show from the ground up!
To the Warehouse [Special Remixes Edition] Part II
I added a bit of rapping voice to an elaborate advertising animation for the Shot & Go energy drink product line. It appears they are looking to further root themselves in South America. I wonder if they are they headed to the states... The parent company is from Germany.
I thought this track would fill you with joyful energy for the week. Yep I'm bogus... I shouldn't be leaking my own music, but why not? My network is purely about those who love music!
Old School Wednesday
As we take trip back in time... The year is 1998, the track is Broke As Hell (Droppin' Shit on Wax) the group is Earatik Statik. We tore up many shows with this one! Ironically, we never recorded a record version. It was always rocked live from the instrumental. Who does that?
I believe my tunes belong in movies. So lately, I've been surrounding myself with composers and film professionals who are in the game scoring! This video contains highlights of a Master Session with Mark Isham at the ASCAP EXPO 2012. He's an extremely accomplished composer of film and TV. I'm hoping some good luck and refined process will rub off on the brother.
Diggin in the Crates for Books
The original Beat Street script was released entitled, Looking for the Perfect Beat digitally http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/127430 by author and cannabis activist Steven Hager http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/stevenhager420 If you didn't know, that was one of my favorite period movies. I always knew it was more to the story plus in many ways I lived it too...
The key to success is... Well peep Fine Artist Milton Mizenburg's answer. More jewels being drop by a Great Man.
A vivid imagination is not easy to maintain. Milton Mizenburg knows how and shares with The Brother Named El at his Low End Fortress. I could clearly hear the King of 43rd playing in the background while he speaking.
The Chicago artist hashtag for the ASCAP Expo 2012 conference is #ChiBeatsHard. Let's show our solidarity networking and building throughout the event.
Trial by Fire: First let me salute all those African American Men and Women who entered the Chicago Fire Academy on March 16th, 2012 and the team of people who worked diligently over 10+ years on the Lewis vs City of Chicago to get them there. In 1995, I took the Chicago Fire Fighter exam and I don't believe I ever received my results. Since I was in college and busy with all things hip hop, I didn't really pay it any mind... Until September 2011, I received a letter in the mail stating I won a law suit against the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) and City of Chicago that went all the way to the Supreme Court. It suggested that due to some racial and political trickery in the CFD and City of Chicago; I was rightfully denied a chance to continue the hiring process toward entering the Fire Academy. As a result, myself and roughly 4000 other potential candidates had some new options for their lives. Through a job lottery and series of updated physical and drug screenings, 111 African Americans were given another opportunity to become Fire Fighters.
I still have questions about this entire process but "some" justice was done. I'll just let them resonate into the world wide web...
Why was the number of hires so small?
Why was the job lottery so significant in the hiring process?
Has the City of Chicago taken proper measures to prepare the older candidates graduate the Fire Academy?
If 111 candidates don't graduate from the Fire Academy will they reach back into the qualified potential hires and select more?
Why wasn't this more of a traditional hiring process done with real interviews toward the end?
Why was the communication between the Fire Department and the potential candidates so poor?
Did the City and Fire Department do the best they could to get the most qualified people from the 1995 class candidates?
Has any representative from the CFD been demoted or fired as a result of this case?
When will the 1995 test class get their stipend and will it be taxed?
Will the City of Chicago use the personnel records accumulated during this hiring process and offer other jobs to those that didn't make it as a result of the job lottery? In my opinion, it seems like a waste of resources (your tax money) to do all this testing and background checking, etc. and know that you have more qualified men and women without jobs, drug free, educated and healthy and not offer other positions which do exist.

After listening to the QSC K12 speakers, I don't want anything else. They sound superb. Besides, everything else seems to be upside down!
Music Monday Delivered
A play on the Godfather tune; hardcore in essence and too tough for the soft to consume. Escape a charge by listening to the track and releasing your tension with an ill flow!
Designing Sound: Preparing to finesse this water drip into some extraordinary sound material. Constantly being reminded of my foundations in hip hop, production technique and favorite movie of the era, Beat Street. El is Kenny and Kenny is El. Remarkable similarities in character haunt me to this day as Kenny rocks the water drip to a melody (peep the scene, about 7:50 into the movie.)
Hollywood has come to the Hood -- Stars Network is filming, Boss starring Kelsey Gammer as Tom Kane; plays the mayor of Chicago who has recently been diagnosed with a degenerative neurological disorder. Ironically, I guess we're just watching reality... Former Mayor Daley, did some supremely bogus things during his tenure. He had to be suffering from some disorder including greed. I'm still shocked how Blagojevich got popped first! My song should definitely be in the film. It would just seem proper, right???
