Some Vampire the Masquerade Ankh notebooks/ sketchbooks I finished today. I was working on these the same time I was working on the blades in the dark deep cuts binding I posted yesterday. Hence, the design similarity.
Originally planned to make these before Christmas in time for a board game night where I was going to give these away as prizes for winning. However I never got them done in time.
Now I'm giving one of them to a friend as a belated Christmas present and the other I have no plans for, probably gonna end up a prize again. Gives me an excuse to plan a day for a big board game.
Just finished printing and binding this up today. I'm very pleased with how it came out and can't wait to play it at the table!

Here is the Arts & Crafts version, entirely handcrafted, of my art book Forgotten Gods.
We printed it with @psycheophiuchus , using our own presses on Vélin d'Arches paper. Each design in the book was then screen-printed by hand with gold and colored inks, with up to five different screen-printing passes depending on the complexity of the pages.
Once the sheets were folded and gathered into signatures, Sophie Charlot, a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, meticulously bound them by hand. Belfea Archerie created all the leather parts and applied the dyes. Together, we assembled the covers on the book bodies bound by Sophie, and I gilded the cover with gold leaf (using three different shades of 22-23k gold).
Finally, I made the wooden cases and covered them with fabric. We then attached the clasp and the repoussé leather medallion, dyed by Belfea and gilded by me.
All the illustrations were printed using our presses; they are fine art prints on velvet-finish paper. With Psyché, we enhanced about thirty of them with gold (using several shades of 22-23k gold) to match the appearance of the original artworks. These illustrations were then hand-glued and protected with tracing paper, also hand-glued by Psyché and me.
King of Gods has represented a significant part of my work in recent years. It has been a passionate and enriching adventure, in the true spirit of the Arts & Crafts movement and in the footsteps of the Kelmscott Press. Thank you to everyone who worked on this book.

My perfect mashed potatoes
The secret is in the water; literally, it’s IN the water.
See, when you boil potatoes, a lot of special starches and sugars and stuff leeches out into the water. When you drain the water before mashing them, you throw away a lot of good stuff, which is a big part of what makes mashed potatoes “dry” and bland, even when you add large amounts of cream and butter and things.
So don’t throw out any water.
Here’s how you do that:
First, cut your potatoes into smaller cubes than you probably do. (I’ve left the skins on for flavor and also, that’s where a lot of a potato’s nutrients are, like protien and iron and vitamins B and C, just to name a few)
The reason for cutting them smaller (besides avoiding giant peices of skin) is so that there is less space in the pot between each peice for water to fill, so you use less water to cook them. That’s important because you won’t be draining any water, so you can’t afford to have too much water! For the same reason, just barely cover them with water when they go on the stove.
But! Before you do that, put the pot on the stove with some butter, garlic, and seasonings; let the butter start to sizxle just a little then put most of a single layer of potatoes in the pan and let the brown and sear. Turn them, brown them on all sides, get ‘em fairly dark (I forgot to get a pic here because I was worried I’d burn the butter).
Ready? now throw the rest of the potatoes in right on top, and add your water, give them a stir. This way, you’re boiling in some of that lovely fried potato/french fry flavor.
Okay, so, as they cook, you may need to add a little water, not too much! ideally the very highest piece of potato will be poking just above the surface. Now, when your potatoes are really really soft, mash them directly into the water. Just pull them off the stove, leave all the water in, and start mashing. Trust me. At first you’ll think there’s too much water. If you get them mashed and they ARE a little too liquidy, just put ‘em back on the stove. You’ll have to stir often or constantly, but they will steam off additional water without losing any good stuff.
Now add some salt, and taste. Right?! And you haven’t even put in any cream or cheese or anything yet.
Speaking of which, you can use like, a third of the amount of butter or cream or anything, and they will still taste better than usual. So they taste better AND they are higher in nutrients AND lower in fats and salts! That’s a lot of win — enjoy your potatoes!

Finished this album last night, I'm giving is as a present for my Grandfather's 90th birthday this weekend. I started it at work however I was told off by my manager on Monday for doing too many personal projects there so I had to finish it at home in my kitchen. On the one hand I think I probably take advantage of them too much but on the other I need to learn and develop my skills as an apprentice and if they don't trust me to do work on live projects fully then how else am I going to get skills. And also I was paid very poorly for the last couple years and have only just been put up above minimum wage significantly in the last few months so I feel they have a lot to make up for and I don't think I will ever forgive my boss for the financial damages I got for working here. Either way I hated trying to get it finished on the kitchen table spending hours and not having all the resources I'm used too. I can only hope my manager will forgive me in good time so I can get back to using company resources again. To be honest this week hasn't been great for my mental health, so much anxiety and discomfort at my work, constantly on edge of I'm doing enough and money problems, and the idea of winter electric bills going up since it's definitely gotten colder in the last week. And I have been so anxious about if I would have enough time to get this book finished at home, I have been working well into the evening and just worked myself too the bone. But I am proud of what I have made and it is good for it to finally be finished. A good way to end it on a high note.
