The innocent boy’s name is Brett Rosenau. He was 15 years old, not 14 like some news outlets have reported. Here is a link to donate to his funeral expenses. His father, whom Brett is named after, was shot by police on December 31st, 2006. He was 24 years old and his son was months away from being born.

His mother Amanda Lopez has lost both her partner and son at the hands of police.

Fun history facts: One of the 31 people arrested at Stonewall on June 28th 1969 was American folk singer Dave Van Ronk, who was not at the Stonewall Inn at the time and was cis & straight as far as I'm aware. He'd been eating dinner at a nearby restaurant when he noticed a riot happening, said "Well I suppose I should go see what the fuss is about," stepped outside, and immediately started throwing bricks at the cops.

A friend asked him how he came to be arrested in the 1969 riot when New York police busted a gay bar, the Stonewall Inn. "I was passing by and I saw what was going down," he said, "and I figured, they can't have a riot without me!"

He hated cops so anyone fighting against the cops was a friend to him. The police grabbed some protestors, including him, and dragged them back inside the bar and barricaded themselves in. They beat him almost to the point of unconsciousness and then handcuffed him to a radiator and charged him with assault.

Finland explained himself in the comic, but in 2010 Denmark started giving heroine to drug addicts for free and it was such a huge success that it has continued until today. Because of this Norway has started experimenting with it too. It’s a lot cheaper for society because the addicts commit less crime, they don’t have to spend money on drugs so instead they spend it on things that are more healthy for them so they don’t end up on the hospital as often, they have to take the drugs in special clinics so there’s no chance of them taking an overdose or using dirty needles and spreading diseases among each other, there’s always staff ready to help them if they want to get off the drugs, and it’s a lot more effective way to help more people because addicts come into contact with professionals who want to help them before they even think about getting help themselves. Nobody wants to be homeless or an addict. Though they often end up getting involved in criminality because of their situation, the act of being homeless or an addict is not a crime in itself and the people deserve help like anyone else.
