Ever since I learned that Troy has synesthesia—specifically lexical-gustatory synesthesia—I’ve been using that as a headcanon for Liveleak!Jay. Jay’s taste buds are triggered by specific words from as far back as he can remember. But just as his body and mindset have transformed into something inhuman, the last remnant of his humanity is his synesthesia, which now reacts to sounds more than words.
Some of his victims' screams taste better than others. Every whine, yell, scream, and cry has its own unique flavor. Strangely enough, the taste is different for each victim; not a single flavor has repeated. Whether it’s acidic, spicy, sweet, or tender, every scream brings something new.
Once in a while, though, there’s that victim with the flavor. It’s so delicious and overwhelming that Jay politely asks Alex not to kill them off too quickly, to draw out the torture just enough so they keep screaming. He wants them to live long enough for him to savor the taste and burn it into his memory, knowing it might be the last time he experiences something that exquisite—like the bittersweet feeling of remembering the most beautiful and delicious snack you’ve ever had, knowing you’ll never taste it again.
Even though you’ve already explained that Jay does taste their victims—and has tried to describe the flavors to Alex, who tries so hard to understand—that little fact about Troy only made me even more feral about it, hehe
