the weather was perfect, and the ambience of love and sweetness filled the air. it was valentine's day. the streets weren't too busy, but you could still see people walking around with chocolates and presents in their hands, wrapped in passionate reds, making their way to their loved ones.
you were walking hand in hand with him, a smile plastered on your face as you made your way to your favorite makeup store. he watched in amusement as your pace got quicker and quicker the nearer the store got. he had woken you up with breakfast in bed and loving touches, telling you about all he had planned for the day, including a fancy dinner at your favorite restaurant. with that as an excuse, as well as the big discounts the special day had brought to the stores, you asked him to accompany you to go makeup shopping for tonight, and he agreed with a smile.
as you made your way into the store, you dragged him with you to your favorite brand, seeing as they had released a new collection of glossy tints. letting out an excited noise, you started looking at the available colors, picking your favorites.
"hmm, let's see," you whispered as you lifted the colored tube near his face.
"what are you doing, love?" he asked, confused, as you held up the different tubes to his face.
"testing which one will look good on your face, obviously," you answered, still keeping a serious face, and he had to hold back a laugh at your cuteness.
"alright then, let me help you," he played along and lifted one of his hands toward you so you could swatch all the colors you had selected on his skin.
after a few walks around the store, you got all you wanted to get, going to the cashier and watching him hold you back from getting your wallet so he could pay for you, resulting in a peck on his cheek as you walked out and started your way back home.
some hours had passed since you made it home, and you decided to test your new makeup before getting ready for dinner. taking out the tints you had picked up, you gently applied the first color on your lips before calling for him.
"you called, pretty?" he softly said as he opened the door to your shared bedroom.
"mhm! i need you to sit over here," you answered excitedly as you pointed to your dressing table. he quickly followed and sat, staring at you from the mirror, waiting for your next move.
he watched as you sat in his lap, facing his way and wrapping your arms around his shoulders, instinctively closing his eyes. your face leaned towards his as you pressed a peck onto his cheek, pulling away as you stared at the new rosy mark that shined on his soft skin. his eyes followed you as you wiped off your lips and applied a new color, leaning down again to kiss his face. soon, after many giggles, his face was covered by the shape of your lips in different shades.
"let's see which one is your color!" you stated as you pulled back a little to look at his face in detail, analyzing every little mark and trying to select which one complemented his skin tone best. while you observed, he looked at himself in the mirror and smiled like a fool.
"i think you missed a spot, darling," he chuckled and turned to meet your gaze.
every part of his face and neck was covered in pretty shades; however, you noticed his lips had remained untouched the whole time.
"oh, i guess i did," you answered with a cheeky smile and leaned down into him as he settled a hand on your back to pull you closer, making your chests collide and your hearts beat along with each other's.
your faces angled as your soft lips finally met his, fitting perfectly and moving in sync. you kissed endlessly, too enchanted by each other to let go. you finally parted with quick breaths, your hands on his chest and his hands going down your back to hold you steady.
you smiled at him with hearts in your eyes as you stared at his now messy pink lips that matched the flush in his cheeks.
"i think i found my favorite one."

"i'm home" you announce as you leave your bag on the table, but you don't receive the usual welcome "hello? kei?" you approach the bedroom, where you expect him to be, and he is, sitting by the edge of the bed staring at his phone. the only sound that fills the room is the music that's leaking out of his headphones.
"hey" you softly say as you approach him from behind, lovingly caressing his shoulder with your right hand, as your left one settles into his waist.
his gaze finally meets yours, and you can tell just by the look his eyes give you that today wasn't his day. his hands reach for his headphones after pausing the music and settling his phone aside. "bad day?" you whisper, moving both your hands to his upper back to massage his troubles away.
"hmm yeah, don't wanna talk about it now though" he answers, matching your lower tone. "want me to make you something? you must be hungry it's almost ten" you ask him as he starts to turn around. "maybe later, just wanna lay with you for a bit".
years ago tsukishima would've never imagined he'd be in the position he is today, leaving his pride aside and snuggling into your chest in the intimacy of your shared bedroom. if you had told him he'd be this vulnerable with you, he probably would've laughed. but seeing it now it makes sense, being able to show you his weakest sides without fear, knowing that all you'll do is make him better.
