Lilith's Return: Season 3 onward possiblities
Soooooooo..... Been thinking about season 3 and about how the show is gonna handle Lilith coming back to Hell and her family. Came up with 4 different ways it could play out.
(in order of most to least Lilith positive)
1) Lilith has a good reason for being gone. The theory floating around that she's actually been a hostage in a very nice prison that's been floating around fits here. She's wasn't allowed to come back or contact her family until the Exterminations were officially cancelled. She comes back as soon as she's able and tells her family everything.
The explanation leads to lots of tears, an awkward resettling period, and probably a lovely song that might reference "More than Anything." Then the Morningstar Royal family is back together, back in business and the Lucilith shippers rejoice!
2) Starts the same as the first one, the reason for being in Heaven was valid, she reached out as soon as she could. But! This one leans more into the fact that Charlie once said that her parents have been separated for a while. That while maybe Lucifer tries maybe too hard to win Lilith back, there's awkwardness, a conversation about love changing, a sad song or two, and finally an official divorce. They continue as friends but ultimately try to find love else where. Charlie might blame herself, might try to force them back together, might side so heavily with Lilith that there has to be a conversation about how it's not actually Lucifer's fault. But again, they figure it out.
3) (Bad Guy Lilith starts here!) Lilith doesn't have a good reason for leaving. Probably doesn't say anything at first, brushes everyone off, and it's only later revealed to be something very selfish or just kinda bad. The Lilith of this version is also just kindaaa..... Awful. The best example I can come up with for the idea I have of this version is actually Mother Gothel from Tangled. She's a manipulative Gaslighter, specializing is underhanded criticism disguised as backhanded compliments/jokes. The audience and the rest of the cast can see that this isn't healthy but Lucifer and Charlie have been so close to the issue for so long that they can't see it and may even get defensive if someone tries to say something. This version also works with the idea that she wasn't ever actually in love with Lucifer, but instead latched on to him initially for protection then stayed for power.
It does eventually come to a head, Lilith's bad reason for abandoning her family comes out, the divorce is much messier. She may even side with the ultimate big bad (Roo, or someone in Heaven). Generally no one likes her and we're all happy to see her gone and after the angsty "breakup to rise again" songs we cheer on any new love interests for our dear King of Hell.
4) Lilith is straight up evil. The reason she was in Heaven was because she started the Resistance to leaverage herself a cushy spot on a beach and doomed the Sinners while straight up abandoning her family, or something all together worse that she needed access to Heaven to accomplish. She's only coming back because Redemption working ruined her plans and she needs to go back for damage control. She's, again, manipulative and awful to Charlie and straight up cruel to Lucifer. Buuuuut either has been at it for so long she's convinced them it's normal or she's using voice based mind control on them. They don't see the problem, everyone else does.
True colors come out, potentially after some kind of fight, and Lucifer and Charlie are devastated but pull together and take her down. Ends with Lilith either dead, imprisoned, or banished from Hell.
💜 Those are my ideas! Sound off if anyone thinks of another one! Thanks for reading! 💜
