Watch all of One Year Later on Dropout
important
I live in LA County and one day, months ago, I saw this car driving around with a friend. We both immediately went "that's concerning" bc of the joker and presumed that the owner was not doing okay followed by many concerns about their mental health.
When the episode dropped I showed my friend to confirm it was the same car and she went, "Glad to know we were correct in assuming he was not doing okay."

I usually embroider during my commute, which has helped me develop some interesting skills.
I can now do french knots while standing in a semi-crowded metro. Granted, I don't quite have a 100% success rate yet, but I'm still very proud of my self.
Surely this is skill will be useful in a broad variety of situations.
For real this kind of balance and coordination exercise IS useful in a broad variety of situations because this is a SPECTACULAR way to keep your mobility skills sharp, which will make you better at moving in general.
One thing I love
is the very, very limited way that the Pitt uses music. Aside from the cheeky way that "Baby" goes from non-diegetic to diegetic in the first episode (and then from diegetic to non-diegetic in the last) and the music that plays in the outros, there are very few noticeable musical cues throughout the show.
My favorite example, though, is the end of episode 12, and every time I watch those last few minutes I get chills. Because up until then everything in this episode been just the sounds of the ER and the people in it— right up until the cop car comes screeching to a halt in the ambulance bay.
At that moment, a low sort humming sound, just one note with a slight vibration, can be heard very faintly. As Robby triages the cop and gets him out of the car, another note is played just a bit higher; then another in quick succession.
Then Ellis notices the extra SWAT, and we start getting... almost a tune. It's still too slow and steady to really be called a melody, but the notes are modulating as the danger ratchets up — the shooter may be heading for the hospital, the ambulance bay may be a target. As Robby tells Ellis and Shen to focus on the patients, focus on the patients, the music changes again; this is probably the moment you first eve notice it at all, when you first watched the episode.
And as Shen says, "Jesus, when's this going to end," and entirely new sound comes in — a whispery wailing noise, almost siren-like, that keeps climbing up the scale as Robby looks around, frantic about Jake, and the screen goes to black as the sounds all taper off with a slight echo. It's incredibly unsettling, incredibly subtle, and I'd like to kiss their whole sound production team on the mouth.
I got curious a couple episodes in because I'd noticed that there was no soundtrack happening and found an article about it that's really fascinating about their sound design. The lack of music was aggressively intentional - I think there's only three or four full "music" credits for the whole season, and one of them is Whitaker's hilarious ringtone - and the scoring that did take place was designed to fade into the background. The relevant pull quote:
I tell them that I think it’s less a piece of music and more of a frequency that subtly changes the energy in the room. Gemmill agrees and adds that it was also meant to blur the line between diegetic and non-diegetic sound. “At times, you can’t tell if that’s coming off one of the machines or if it’s there. So it’s sort of playing a little cat and mouse with you.” “We even try to make it feel occasionally like it’s Robby’s tinnitus,” says Wells.
I have a disease that makes me like vampires and titties its callled being a fucking genius
The older I get the more I admire people who are earnestly, genuinely into whatever their thing is. I know it sounds like an annoying cliche but unless you're being cruel or hurtful there is really no need to be normal about things. The dude with the bad fake accent at the renaissance faire is having the time of his life. The people having photoshoots with their fashion dolls are loving it. The old lady with a yard unreasonably full of tacky ass lawn ornaments is having a blast, HOA be damned.
Don't waste your time being too cool to have fun, y'know?
