Although he had yet to grow comfortable with his living and work arrangements, Ren had no choice but to press on in this new city utilize his talents, and hope for the best in returning home. Work in particular called for a bit of effort on his end. As an experienced actor he is quite aware of the tremendous amount of flexibility required on set⊠however, he does draw a line on carrying heavy equipment and his maiden through a ring of fire that chaotic.
Whether or not the team were properly prepared, there were many complications on the set involving that fire. While he wasnât particularly thrilled about wearing his armor during his break (his attendant insisted on not removing the thing since she was positive this situation would be resolved quickly) this granted him some time to reflect on his earlier conversation with another employee.
Somewhere between the lunch tent and the break room was Ren, with a hand supporting his visage and blue eyes fixated on the figure approaching.Â
Oh⊠did they fix the issue already?Â
God save you from amateurs, honestly. Like, you donât expect everyone to train with explosives to the point that you do, but like, these people do this for a living. Youâd think they could handle instructions more complicated than black wire to black wire and neutral to neutral, but apparently not, because you had a blaze to contend with, and now you get to tell the idol-- celebrity-- singer, medieval reenactor, you donât even know-- the bad news. Maybe they looked at your deafness and thought at least you wouldnât hear when he yelled at you, or something.
He-- doesnât seem like the type to yell. You certainly donât understand what he has on, but thatâs neither here nor there-- he has a cool blue gaze, and heâs watching you, and it makes you pause. You thought from a casual glance that there was something of the hothouse flower in him, but youâre suddenly unsure.
You shake it off. Business.
âUh, hey. Youâre the client, right?â You donât wait for an answer. He has that sort of fine-edged look that comes from doing this sort of stuff for a living, a sculpted jaw and perfect nails and expensive hair. âSo, the fireâs out, but we have another problem.â
You shove your gritty hands deep in your pockets, touching the crimson and adriatic guns for support. âSpeakerâs dead. Itâs burnt out. Theyâre bringing in another one, they told me to tell you, but itâll take a while, so if you wanna take off the--â You jerk your head in the direction of the armour in lieu of a better word â-- that, you can. Or leave it on, if it makes you feel better, I dunno. Up to you.â
Autumn, it strikes you suddenly. Or a sunset. Thereâs a sort of warmth to him, a relaxed feeling, that you were missing before. Something about him still makes you feel edgy, for some reason-- probably because he has the look of an expensive piece of art and you are fully aware that you are gritty with ash and oil and dressed like a rainbow puked on you, but who knows-- but thereâs an air about him you think would make people feel at ease. A summer sunset, thatâs it. A breeze coming in over the water and people smiling.
You let out a breath. âAre you hurt? From the fire?â
