heatwave!
For anyone living in Europe: the first heatwave of the season is forecast for tomorrow, and will likely stretch until Friday. Please stay safe.
Open your windows at night BUT close everything, including blinds and curtains, during the day
If you need it, buy a fan, a cold blanket or a cooler
Drink a lot
Also drink mostly water, without ice
If you can, avoid getting out in the sun between 11am and 6pm
If you need to go outside, wear sunscreen and a hat
Also loose clothes and natural, breathable fabrics
Think of your pets!Â
Make sure they have access to water and shade, bring them inside the house if possible, donât leave them in a car alone
Check on your grandma and other elderly relatives!Â
Old people are at risk during hot weather, so remind them to drink and stay inside with their blinds closed
If you or people you know are experiencing the following symptoms
breathlessness
chest pain
confusion
intense thirst
weakness
dizziness
cramps that get worse or donât go away
call an ambulance.Â

Euros are inferior
Iâm British. Here in England, houses are built to protect us from the cold and wet. They trap heat, and thereâs no way to escape it - most domestic homes donât have air con, and itâs not overly common in commercial buildings either.
So, before you consider us inferior, just imagine it from our perspective. Weâre used to dealing with cold, wet, windy days - we thrive in that weather! So, when itâs literally 20°C hotter than weâre comfortable in, we do get a bit uncomfortable.
Then perish.
Fr tho, temps in AZ are getting to be below freezing. I live in a desert. Shit sucks.
It does this every year, and every year people are like âbut I live in a desert!âÂ
Weâve only had one night of hard freeze, weâre aiight :PÂ
I dont usually see it get below 40 and I've been here for like 10 years

Itâs McDonaldâs, itâs not supposed to be a high paying job
People deserve to make enough to live on. Thatâs not up for debate. This idea that some jobs arenât âsupposed toâ pay enough for people to get their needs met is bullshit. Nobody should be living in poverty.
Yes, but itâs McDonaldâs. Itâs not meant to be a job to support a family, itâs mainly for support for teens or side jobs.
No, itâs not.Â
There is no such thing as a job âfor teensâ (and even if there was, they deserve a fair wage for their labor, too.) Nobody should get paid so little that they need âside jobs.âÂ
If your business model relies on paying people a wage that keeps them trapped in poverty, your business should not continue to exist. McDonaldâs can afford to pay their workers a better wage, theyâre choosing not to.Â
âIts a job for teens!â Oh, is that why McDonalds closes during school hours on school days? Cool, cool, I always wondered. After all since all their employees are, ya know, high schoolers, they canât really be open between 7:30am and 4pm Monday-Friday. Thats a thing that happens, yeah?
And $15/hr is not a âhighâ wage. If you think so, newsflash, your employer is underpaying you. You should unionize too.
This isnt $15/hr
This is ÂŁ15/hr
Thats closer to $20/hour for a fast food job.
Conversions, people. Not all currencies are the same.
THIS OFFICE HAD ITS BLINDS UP AND THIS IS WHAT I SAW
iâm losing my mind. this is a high rise office building on the upper east side of manhattan. and the only piece of art on the wall in this office is a bikini clad anime girl with humongous bazookas that are bouncing out of sync. this canât be real someone wake me up
I know this print, itâs actually considered a fine art piece! Itâs clearly based on Takashi Murakamiâs live-sized statue âHiroponâ:
Which, yes, sheâs skipping rope with milk that sheâs lactating from her bazongas. Itâs actually part of a set, the other one being titled âLonesome Cowboyâ:
Which features a Cloud look-alike lassoing with his cum.Â
Murakami is well known for taking âlow artâ subject matter (anime, hentai, penises) and placing them in âhigh artâ contexts. I actually saw Hiropon in personal with my own two eyes at the Denver Museum of Art back in 2009. A lot of what he does is satirical, and itâs honestly pretty funny to see pictures of his artwork in American museums, surrounded by confused white baby boomers.Â
That said, without the context, it DEFINITELY slaps you in the face and makes you question what the fuck is going on. Had I not found out who he was in college, Hiropon would still haunt me as the most confusing thing Iâve ever seen in a museum.Â
god thank you for explaining this but also iâm still being slapped in the face as i type
How the fuck do I get marked NSFW and cant get it removed but yall post this shit and are fine?

Just an fyi cobalt is currently the most toxic oil paint usually. Older oil paints from old masters are also most likely made with lead.
So the death via oil paint isnât impossible tbh
