People gotta stop spreading crazy shit on here like itâs normal. No, having an abusive father is not a universal thing that all women deal with. No, hating your own body to the point that looking at it makes you want to throw up is not a universal thing that all women deal with. Even harrassment- not a universal thing all women deal with. If this is happening you need to seek out help because itâs not normal, and telling girls who are going through this kind of shit to just blame men is counterproductive and not helping them in the slightest.
is anyone saying that everyone has these problems or are feminists (truthfully) saying that these are issues caused by patriarchy and male violence? you can seek individual help AND look at the wider social causes. harassment, abuse, and body problems dont affect literally every single woman but they are HIGHLY prevelant. I have never met a woman who has never experienced some form of harassment and body image issues and something like 1 in 4 women face abuse from men? (that is actually reported onâŚ)it IS extremely common and making people feel alone and refusing to recognize patterns is not helpful to anyone. Just because they shouldnât be normal doesnât mean they arenât extremely common.
This is why they push individualism so hard
They donât want to acknowledge that women are oppressed and desperately try seek out some kind of exception and to push the blame off on women
Years ago when I was a baby feminist, a female friend invited a dude to come hang out at my place. This guy responded to any annoyance by jokingly threatening to beat my friend up. I finally spoke up and said that I don't tolerate jokes about violence against women in my home. He was like "it's just a joke" and I was like "well it isn't a joke to me, violence against women is a huge thing, women are oppressed, etc"
He responded by saying that he doesn't believe women are oppressed because he grew up in a "matriarchal" household where he and his father were constantly bossed around by his mom and sisters, so he believes he should be allowed to make jokes because he feels traumatized by women. And he sat back like this was some kind of masterstroke.
So yeah that guy was never invited back, but it gave me a solid look into how that mindset works. I pushed him a little -- did your mom yell at you? Hit you? Control your family finances so you had to dress in rags? Did she isolate you, shame you, keep you from participating in public life?
No. She just made him mow the lawn and he wasn't allowed to argue because his "whipped" dad backed her up.
rough stuff my dude
i swear to god, don't reblog stuff like this and then say your blog is safe for trans women. i understand missing an url and reblogging a post that has nothing to do with their fucked up beliefs, but this post by someone literally called "adult human female" that start by saying 'uwu women hands are so small they can't even hold a big phone!!!!'........ is very clear. especially when the first reblog is by someone calling out 'male domination'. please read carefully the posts that talk about this stuff, oh my god.
"uwu this terf says that the world caters towards male needs! how dare she! "
These idiots are so fucking fragile. Any reminder that women are typically have a different body make up than men is triggering. Your ideology is cotton candy, melted with a single drop of water lmao đ¤Ł
Male supremacists like OP get defensive and angry when male supremacy is called out.
lol if THIS is your definition of something being unsafe,
hello everyone. Hereâs the worst thing youâll see this week:
how do these people reconcile believing that wearing a kitschy Halloween costume is uber racist but going to a third world country and paying $20 to âboneâ impoverished woc of color is woke
You canât âethically travelâ if youâre engaging in âsex tourism.â Itâs raping men, women, and children failed by their society, many of whom have been trafficked and/or groomed since appallingly young ages.
Reminder that this is literally what leading âgender therapistsâ actually believe and how they actually think. They see a little girl removing uncomfortable, hair-pulling barrettes from her hair and see someone who must be a boy, because girls would enjoy having their hair pulled and be fine with it. They see a little boy unsnapping his constrictive onesie to give himself some more freedom and see someone who must be a girl, because only girls would desire the aesthetic of free legs, and obviously he must be concerned about the way it looks rather than the way it feels. This is plain and simple conservative, regressive absurdity.
Reminder that Diane Ehrensaft and her colleagues are seeking to lower the legal age for medical and surgical transition to allow them to do permanent, irreparable harm to children who show signs of being gay and/or gender non-conforming through these âgender messagesâ.
And yet people will claim parents have no influence on this. Even though theyâre the ones projecting these ideas onto children pulling off uncomfortable accessories and clothes. As if children are somehow born knowing barrettes and dresses are âfor girlsâ before they can even talk or form coherent thoughts. As if barrettes and dresses being âfor girlsâ isnât a social construct to begin with.
So, every infant on the planet is born with this innate awareness of the social norms specific to their culture? Children are born just knowing the difference between dresses, thawbs, kilts, etc., etc.?
In the 1960â˛s Legally a woman couldnât
Open a bank account or get a credit card without signed permission from her father or hr husband.
Serve on a jury - because it might inconvenience the family not to have the woman at home being her husbandâs helpmate.
Obtain any form of birth control without her husbandâs permission. You had to be married, and your hub and had to agree to postpone having children.
Get an Ivy League education. Ivy League schools were menâs colleges ntil the 70â˛s and 80â˛s. When they opened their doors to women it was agree that women went there for their MRS. Degee.
Experience equality in the workplace: Kennedyâs Commission on the Status of Women produced a report in 1963 that revealed, among other things, that women earned 59 cents for every dollar that men earned and were kept out of the more lucrative professional positions.
Keep her job if she was pregnant.Until the Pregnancy Discrimination Act in 1978, women were regularly fired from their workplace for being pregnant.
Refuse to have sex with her husband. The mid 70s saw most states recognize marital rape and in 1993 it became criminalized in all 50 states. Nevertheless, marital rape is still often treated differently to other forms of rape in some states even today.
Get a divorce with some degree of ease. Before the No Fault Divorce law in 1969, spouses had to show the faults of the other party, such as adultery, and could easily be overturned by recrimination.
Have a legal abortion in most states. The Roe v. Wade case in 1973 protected a womanâs right to abortion until viability.
Take legal action against workplace sexual harassment. According to The Week, the first time a court recognized office sexual harassment as grounds for legal action was in 1977.
Play college sports Title IX of the  Education Amendments of protects people from discrimination  based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial  assistance It was nt until this statute that colleges had teams for womenâs sports
Apply for menâs Jobs  The EEOC rules that sex-segregated help wanted ads in newspapers are illegal.  This ruling is upheld in 1973 by the Supreme Court, opening the way for women to apply for higher-paying jobs hitherto open only to men.
This is why we needed feminism - this is why we know that feminism works
I just want to reiterate this stuff, because I legit get the feeling there are a lot of younger women for whom it hasnât really sunk in what it is todayâs GOP is actively trying to return to.
Did you go to a good college? Shame on you, you took a college placement that could have gone to a man who deserves and needs it to support or prepare for his wife & children. But if you really must attend college, well, some men like that, you can still get married if you focus on finding the right man.
Got a job? Why? A man could be doing that job. You should be at home caring for a family. You shouldnât be taking that job away from a man who needs it (see college, above). You definitely donât have a career â youâll be pregnant and raising children soon, so no need to worry about promoting you.
This shit was within living memory. IâM A MILLENIAL and my mother was in the second class that allowed women at an Ivy League school. Men who are alive today either personally remember shit like this or have parents/family who have raised them into thinking this was the way America functioned back in the blissful Good Old Days. There are literally dudes in the GOP old enough to remember when it was like this and yearn for those days to return.
When people talk about resisting conservativism and the GOP, weâre not just talking about whether the wage gap is a myth or not. Weâre talking about whether women even have the fundamental right to exist as individuals, to run their own households and compete for jobs and be considered on an equal footing with men in any arena at all in the first place.
I was a child in the 1960s, a teenager in the 1970s, a young adult in the 1980s. This is what it was like: When I was growing up, it was considered unfortunate if a girl was good at sports. Girls were not allowed in Little League. Girlsâ teams didnât exist in high school, except at all-girlsâ high schools. Boys played sports, and girls were the cheerleaders. People used to ask me as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said I wanted to be a brain surgeon or the first woman justice on the Supreme Court. Everyone told me it was impossibleâthose just werenât realistic goals for a girlâthe latter, especially, because you couldnât trust women to judge fairly and rationally, after all. In the 1960s and 1970s, all women were identified by their marital status, even in arrest reports and obituaries. In elementary school, my science teacher referred to Pierre Curie as DOCTOR Curie and Marie Curie as MRS. CurieâŚbecause, as he put it, âshe was just his wife.â (Both had doctorates and both were Nobel prize winners, so you would think that both would be accorded respect.) Companies could and did require women to wear dresses and skirts. Failure to do could and did get women fired. And it was legal. It was also legal to fire women for getting married or getting pregnant. The rationale was that a woman who was married or who had a child had no business working; that was what her husband was for. Aetna Insurance, the biggest insurance company in America, fired women for all of the above. A man could rape his wife. Legally. I can remember being twelve years old and reading about legal experts actually debating whether or not a man could actually be said to coerce his wife into having sex. This was a serious debate in 1974. The debate about marital rape came up in my law school, too, in 1984. Could a woman be raped by her husband? The guys all said noâa woman got married, so she was consenting to sex at all times. So I turned it around. I asked them if, since a man had gotten married, that meant that his wife could shove a dildo or a stick or something up his ass any time she wanted to for HER sexual pleasure. (Hey, I thought it was reasonable. If one gender was legally entitled to force sex on the other, then obviously the reverse should also be true.) The male law students didnât like the idea. Interestingly, they commented that being treated like that would make them feel like a woman. My reaction was, âThank you for proving my pointâŚâ The concept of date rape, when first proposed, was considered laughable. If a woman went out on a date, the argument of legal experts ran, sexual consent was implied. Even more sickening was the fact that in some statesâeven in the early 1980sâa man could rape his daughterâŚand it was no worse than a misdemeanor. Women taking self-defense classes in the 1970s and 1980s were frequently described in books and on TV as âcute.â The implication was that it was absurd for a woman to attempt to defend herself, but wasnât it just adorable for her to try? I was expressly forbidden to take computer classes in junior and senior years of high schoolâ1978-79 and 1979-80âbecause, as the principal told me, âOnly boys have to know that kind of thing. You girls are going to get married, and you wonât use it.â When I was in collegeâfrom 1980 to 1984âthere were no womensâ studies. The idea hadnât occurred in many places because the presumption was that there was nothing TO study. My history professorâa man who had a doctorate in historyâinformed me quite seriously that women had never produced a noted painter, sculptor, composer, architect or scientist becauseâŚwait for itâŚwomensâ brains were too small. (He was very surprised when I came up with a list of fifty women gifted in the arts and science, most of whom he had never heard of before.) When Walter Mondale picked Geraldine Ferraro as a running mate in 1984, the press hailed it as a disaster. What would happen, they asked fearfully, if Mondale died and Ferraro became president? What if an international crisis arose and she was menstruating? She could push the nuclear button in a fit of PMS! It would be the end of the WORLD!! âŚNo, they WERENâT kidding. On the surface, things are very different now than they were when I was a child, a teen and a young adult. But Iâm afraid that people now do not realize what it was like then. Iâve read a lot of posts from young women who say that they are not feminists. If the only exposure to feminism they have is the work of extremists, I cannot blame them overmuch. I wish that I could tell them what feminism was like when it was newâwhen the dream of legal equality was just a dream, and hadnât even begun to come true. When âwomanâs workâ was a sneerâand an overt putdown. When people tut-tutted over bright and athletic girls with the words, âReally, itâs a shame sheâs not a boy.â That lack of feminism wasnât all men opening doors and picking up checks. A lot of it was an attitude of patronizing contempt that hasnât entirely died out, but which has become less publicly acceptable. I wish I could make them feel what it was likeâŚwhen grown men were called âmenâ and grown women were âgirls.â
Know your history.
So this, too, is what they mean saying âmake America great againâ and/or the good old days.
REBLOG FOREVER.
reblorever.
This portmanteau was created from phrase âreblog foreverâ. Beep-boop. Portmanteau^bot^1
I have never slammed the reblog button harder in my LIFE, because I, too, grew up during the birth of the equal rights movement.
And I will point out that, nearly fifty years later, we STILL do not have an Equal Rights Amendment.
I also want to mention that the majority of menâs prevailing misogynistic attitudes - even now - can be laid at the feet of organized religions, the majority of which are male dominated institutions that have made the subjugation of women their mission since organized religion was invented.
When I started junior high, my mother had to march into the guidance counselorâs office and insist that I be enrolled in the industrial arts classes instead of home economics. I was one of two girls in shop class that year. It wasnât that long ago.
The idea that women arenât really people isnât new, and yet it still catches us by surprise sometimes, having grown used to the idea of being people by, you know, the fact of being people.
When I was in high school (1972-75), girls were required to take home ec and boys were required to take shop. My ninth-grade science teacher laughed when I suggested that the rigors of childbirth indicated that women are physically durable. He encouraged all the boys in the class to laugh at me as well.
In 1974, my friend J. got pregnant. She went with her boyfriend, W., to have an abortion, and I remember how relieved we all were â for both of them, but of course especially for her. A year after Roe.
It makes me sick and angry to listen to young women disavow feminism. They have no fucking idea what feminism has done for them â what shit we went through, fighting for women to be recognized as complete and autonomous persons.
Australia is backward (and regressing) in so many areas, but when I was at secondary school in the late 70s  both sexes had to do home eco, sewing, woodwork and graphics for their first three years, before the subjects became elective in fourth form. When I went to college (not university) after that, we were required to learn to work a computer (still mainframes). It wasnât divided by sex.
Isn't gender studies and women's studies the same thing?
You arenât allowed to talk about women in gender studies
Thatâs a bit unkind. Youâre allowed to talk about women, so long as they are men.
Where is the lie?
Meet Cherish and Kelly. Theyâre here, and theyâre the most queer.
Cherish is a lesbian woman who is subverting societyâs expectations of what it means to be a lesbian, âI donât feel the need to shave, take HRT or have any kind of surgery to be a woman because feminism is about living naturally as a woman without ascribing to oppressive beauty standards.â says Cherish in her stunning button down shirt she found in the menâs department. Her decision to keep her beard, wear pants and menâs shoes are an absolutely fabulous way to tell the world how gnc she is.
Kelly on the other hand feels no need to call themself a man OR a woman because those binary ideas are a social construct, âSex is pseudoscience, itâs something created to oppress non-white people.â Kelly says in a moment of pure wisdom.
I sat down with this queer couple in a trendy coffee bar close to where Cherish works as an editor for a publishing firm. No one around us takes notice of this couple who bravely face the world everyday, they know their queerness isnât accepted by everyone but this doesnât stop them from letting anyone who mistakes them for heterosexual know that they arenât, this takes guts.
âKelly is finding it difficult to find a senior position even though she has a higher degree than I do, people are just so bigoted against non-binary people.â Cherish knows if Kelly, wearing a floral print dress and gender bending sneakers on their feet, would just identify as a woman then theyâd be much further in life.
Kelly and Cherish plan on getting married soon but worry about finding a church accepting of a lesbian marrying a non-binary female, âReligious institutions are still so homophobic and itâs probably going to limit our options. Theyâll take one look at Cherish in her tuxedo she wants to wear and flip, it SCREAMS butch!â cries Kelly.
They go on to tell me how other lesbian couples seem to avoid them and know itâs because transphobia runs rampant in lesbian circles, âTheyâre just jealous that Cherish is more of a woman than theyâll ever be and she has an organic strap-on.â Meanwhile they ensure theyâre on the frontlines at Pride and do their utmost to make sure lesbians know that people like Cherish are the future lesbians can look forward to.
The couple wants children but doesnât quite know yet which one is going to carry. Those of us at QueerPride Weekly wish this very queer couple good luck in their future.
Rugby referees are quitting the womenâs amateur game because they fear rules allowing transgender women to play will lead to serious injurie
Rugby referees are quitting the womenâs amateur game because they fear rules allowing transgender women to play will lead to serious injuries.
Referees say they have been warned not to challenge bearded or heavily muscled players appearing for womenâs teams.
Under the England Rugby rules, transgender women must take a blood test to show that their testosterone has been below a set level (five nanomoles per litre) for 12 months before applying to play. That is half the level set by the International Olympic Committee. But referees say they have to take it on trust rather than check whether a player has been cleared by the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
One, who did not want to be identified, said: âBeing forced to prioritise hurt feelings over broken bones exposes me to personal litigation from female players who have been damaged by players who are biologically male. This is driving female players and referees out of the game.â
Another referee, who said they had encountered five bearded players in womenâs teams in half a season, said: âIf you even ask the question, you are told you are a bigot.â
Last month Kelly Morgan, a trans woman, said she wanted to play in the Welsh womenâs leagues despite her physical advantage. âI do feel guilt but what can you do?â she said. Her club captain said she had folded an opponent âlike a deckchairâ.
Under the laws of the game, a referee is âthe sole judge of fact and of law during the matchâ and is required to remove a player who presents a danger to themselves or others.
The Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies, who is urging Olympic chiefs not to use womenâs sport as a âlive experimentâ for the inclusion of transgender athletes, said rugby appeared to be operating a double standard.
She said: âMy daughter Grace was told at the age of 11 she could no longer play with the boys because it was no longer safe. How can they have that rule in place and . . . say it is perfectly OK for a transgender woman who is a biological man to play with the girls, but girls who are girls are not allowed to play with the boys because it is dangerous?â
A Swedish study found that after 12 months of hormone therapy, a trans woman was still likely to have performance benefits over one whose gender identity matched their sex at birth.
The RFU refused to say how many trans people it had authorised to play in their identified gender. It also did not respond to questions about injuries involving women and trans players.
It said:âThe RFU policy is derived from and aligned to the principles and application of the World Rugby transgender policy.â
Dr Nicola Williams of Fair Play for Women said:âThey have been put under tremendous pressure by well funded and powerful trans lobby groups telling them it is inclusion at any cost.â
@NicholasHellen
Who cares if women get hurt as long as a few males can feel validated.
Dr Nicola Williams of Fair Play for Women said:âThey have been put under tremendous pressure by well funded and powerful trans lobby groups telling them it is inclusion at any cost.â
If you really think someone is evil enough to just like, steal their words, why do you agree with them so much. Its wildÂ
Last month a study on the human brain showed that we were wrong: brain structure is not gender-specific.
Humans arenât even born fully developedâour SKULLS arenât even fully knitted together at birth!âand people want to believe we come preprogrammed with a gender?
Spare me.
đ đ đ
LMAO @space-struck so close
Going into denial in the face of scientific fact is the sign of an unhealthy mind.
Honestly its proof that you donât actually think most of the women you call âterfs/swerfsâ are as bad as nazis or whatever cuz you literally agree with all their fucking posts about gender and steal their words for yourselves & try to pass them off as your own work! You donât agree with white supremacists about race. Its obviously not the same thing at all and you know it. Its unhinged & unbelievably cursed behavior to literally agree with someone until someone else tells you theyâre bad and then just try to take their ideasÂ
Literally never!!!!!
"she/hers" weren't you just talking about being a patriots fan a few days ago?
The Trump administration has withdrawn federal protections for transgender students, but their argument for doing so is based on years of right-wing bullshit.Â
Conservatives still canât name a single instance where these protections were abused.Â
They must not have looked very hard.
Jessica Hambrook raped a little girl in the bathroom of a Canadian homeless shelter. Paula Witherspoonâa twice-convicted paedophile who targeted little girlsâwas arrested for violating probation by being in a bathroom of a hospital known for its paediatrics division. Allison Woolbert, a convicted paedophile who targeted little girls, is the PRESIDENT of the Transgender Human Rights Org, and Alok, a trans activist, has gone on record as calling little girls âkinky little deviantsâ who contribute to their own sexual assault.
Thatâs off the top of my head.
So really, thereâs a few.
He didnât withdraw protections, he literally just fixed title ix to say âsexâ instead of âgender identityâ, the way it was meant to be. Having be â"gender identityââ actually harms women because now they can be fired for being pregnant due to the fact that itâs no longer a female issue, something women have fought against for a long time. Also, any man who claims to be a woman can be on a womenâs sports team if itâs gender identity, which is incredibly unfair to female athletes. The solution to male violence is not to take away female only spaces, but to create a third, gender neutral, bathroom. Iâm sure that @transgender-harms-women could also bring up quite a few examples of men harming women in womenâs bathrooms and other female only spaces
Hereâs a link to a list of incidents involving cross dressing males or trans women who have assaulted or raped women in restrooms:
(X)
Hereâs a link to stats showing how woman-on-woman rape rates are on the rise now that males can change their gender to woman and thus be included in the female population and warp the results:
(X)
Hereâs a link to a post discussing a study that showed trans women retain their male pattern of violence:
(X)
Hereâs a link to another list of rapes and assaults by trans women and male cross dressers of women in bathrooms, locker rooms, and other private spaces:
(X)
Hereâs a link to an article about an 8 year old girl getting choked in a restroom by a man claiming to identify as female:
(X)
If someone is saying âno trans woman has ever harmed anyone in a bathroom!!!â they are either:
1. Blatantly lying to push their agenda.Â
2. Do not care to check as it goes against their agenda.Â
3. Do not care to check as they are not the victims in any of these scenarios and so it does not concern them (aka the white male conservatives in the gifs above).Â
4. Are truly unaware of their ignorance as they have been lied to/misled and so they honestly believe that they are doing what is right.Â
#4 was where I was for a loooong time before I got my head out of the sand.Â
@mediamattersforamerica are you a bunch of fucking liars or do you just not care about women being assaulted and raped AT ALL??
Letâs make one thing clear. This discussion is only about crimes by trans people in public restrooms. So letâs see if any of the links you provided implicate trans people committing crimes in public bathrooms.
Cis men arenât trans. Cross dressers arenât trans. Cis men who pretend to be trans arenât trans.. Your first link doesnât implicate a single trans person in any crime. None of the news stories in your fourth link implicate trans people in crimes in public restrooms either (from the links I was able to access; not all of them worked).
Your second link provides no evidence whatsoever for such a claim.
In the third link, the study concluded that trans men (who you would call female or women)had a similar crime rate to cis men. There was no mention of crimes in public bathrooms.
Your last link from the Washington Times that quotes commenters from Red State (real legit, not) doesnât say that the man claimed to be a woman, and it certainly doesnât say the person was transgender. That was something you made up.
No one is saying that trans people are incapable of committing violent crimes. But donât scapegoat trans people for the crimes of cis men. Donât advocate putting trans people in danger of violence. Donât limit trans peopleâs freedoms to exist safely in public based on the crimes of cis men. Donât lie and protect criminals to promote your own supremacy. People like you are the ones putting people in danger by scapegoating innocent people, instead of holding criminals accountable.
Cis men arenât trans. Cross dressers arenât trans. Cis men who pretend to be trans arenât trans..Â
How are we supposed to know for sure? How can you say for sure that they are not trans? Many of them say they are trans, are you going to deny their identities because you donât like them? How are we supposed to know they are pretending to be trans??Â
And I ask you, if the HUD has declared that:Â
The rule explicitly forbids requesting evidence of a âtransitionâ, including duration, consistency, or sincerity of belief in declared âGender Identityâ. There is no provision to address men who may assert âGender Identityâ for an improper purpose:
âHUD also revises paragraph (b) to add a provision that the policies and procedures must ensure that individuals are not subjected to intrusive questioning or asked to provide anatomical information or documentary, physical, or medical evidence of the individualâs gender identity.â[p13]
Making it so that we cannot question someones gender identity.
âContrary to the public comment that suggests what Congressâs intent was in creating single-sex facilities, HUD does not opine on Congressâs intent behind permitting single-sex facilities, but does make clear in this rule that, for purposes of determining placement in a single-sex facility, placement should be made consistent with an individualâs gender identity. This rule does not attempt to interpret or define sex.â [p30]
Yet the HUD ruling does re-define legal sex -as a characteristic on par with sex-stereotypes of âappearance, behavior, expressionâ- falling under the newly invented federal category of âPerceived Gender Identityâ:
âPerceived gender identity means the gender with which a person is perceived to identify based on that personâs appearance, behavior, expression, other gender related characteristics, or sex assigned to the individual at birth or identified in documents.â [p70]
And must take their word entirely and therefore grant anyone access to female only spaces such as shelters and restrooms, how are we supposed to weed out the âfake trans womenâ? How the hell are we supposed to be able to tell who is REALLY trans and who isnât. Itâs not possible, meaning anyone can and WILL take advantage of this law.
You said:
Your first link doesnât implicate a single trans person in any crime. None of the news stories in your fourth link implicate trans people in crimes in public restrooms either (from the links I was able to access; not all of them worked).

and hereâs a link you must have skipped over in the list that shows a few trans women and other males who have taken advantage of anti-gender discriminatory laws that allowed them in female-only spaces:
The Threat to Women and Girls Presented by Bathroom Bills
Your second link provides no evidence whatsoever for such a claim.
My second link is included because I have been told time and time again that NO TRANS WOMEN EVER HAS HURT A WOMAN!!! not only in regards to bathroom bills. And this lie has helped contribute to the mass lie that no trans woman has ever raped or assaulted women in bathrooms or shelters-which you should see by now is false.
In the third link, the study concluded that trans men (who you would call female or women)had a similar crime rate to cis men. There was no mention of crimes in public bathrooms.
Nope, no it did not. And I included it because, hey wouldnât ya know, if we wouldnât allow it to be socially acceptable for cis males in womenâs restrooms for fear of what they might do than perhaps we should think twice about letting trans women, who are statistically just as violent as cis men either!! Hereâs a quote from the study you might have misread:
The only long-term study of transgender outcomes concluded that âMale to Femaleâ transsexuals retain male-pattern criminality, including crimes against women. [Long-Term Follow-Up of Transsexual Persons Undergoing Sex Reassignment Surgery: Cohort Study in Sweden http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0016885]
My last link is included for reasons stated above. If anyone can claim gender identity and we are not allowed to question or refute it than any male can be a trans woman and claim being a woman and thus be allowed in female-only spaces, it does not matter whether you think they are a âreal trans womanâ. They are still protected under this law and therefore the law is putting all women at risk.Â
No one is saying that trans people are incapable of committing violent crimes. But donât scapegoat trans people for the crimes of cis men. Donât advocate putting trans people in danger of violence. Donât limit trans peopleâs freedoms to exist safely in public based on the crimes of cis men.Â
Well hey, maybe donât scapegoat cis women for being responsible for the crimes of cis men either? Maybe donât tell us its our job to take care of trans women and abolish all of our own private spaces just to accommodate them, despite them also posing a threat to us seeing as i just showed you they have the same rates of violence as cis men!!, just because what cis men have done!Â
And yeah, people are saying that actually! And people are telling women we are being irrational for fearing for our private spaces being abolished-as is the message mediamattersforamerica is sending right now. Hereâs some more people sending that message:
âThe message is that weâre silly, confused little girls who need our reality explained to us. That their feelings are more important than ours. That we must empathize with their struggle but quit bitching about our own. That we are wrong â in fact, bigots â for fearing rape. If we proceed with caution, weâre misandrists â whoops, I mean transphobes.Â
If we complain, weâre being hysterical. When they tell us âDonât worry about it,â they donât see how brushing womenâs fears off as mere âtrans bathroom panicâ is no different than Return of Kings mocking feminists for having Rape Touretteâs.If you ever wondered what rape culture looks like, this is it.Â
And if you ever wondered how feminist you truly are about challenging that rape culture, then I suggest you start by honestly evaluating your own response to female rape survivors who dare participate in the transgender bathroom debate.â
Donât lie and protect criminals to promote your own supremacy. People like you are the ones putting people in danger by scapegoating innocent people, instead of holding criminals accountable.
Take a realllll looong hard look in the mirror buddy. Iâm the one bringing to light all of these incidents that mainstream media has ignored in favor of being âprogressive and inclusiveâ at all costs. It didnât fit their slant on the bathroom bill and so they have chosen to ignore the fact that women HAVE BEEN RAPED AND ASSAULTED and will be raped and assaulted EVEN MORE with the passing of these bathroom bills. Now when a male walks into a dressing room at a gym, or a restroom, or a womenâs domestic abuse shelter they cannot be turned away, even if they are 100% pre-op. Women have been raped at shelters, the one place they were supposed to be safe from males, because of these laws. They have been assaulted, raped, and peered at in restrooms and they cannot even fight back because now that anyone can claim âfemale genderâ and therefore have a right to be there. Women are being forced to either accept dicks-the very weapons used against them, into every private space or else leave their gyms, leave the restrooms they fought for, leave their rape crisis groups, all so males can feel validated.Â
Like you guys are the ones who said âwhat are you going to check everyoneâs pants before they go to the restroom??â (nah we would just look at secondary sex characteristics probably but anyways) and while that was definitely ridiculous and would never happen, it was a whole hell of a lot more possible than checking everyones personal gender identities that can only be known if they tell you. Are we supposed to read minds now to know if someone is a threat or not, if someone is real trans or not??Â
(also itâs not the stopping offenders from coming in in the first place, but being able to deal with them once they have entered that is being taken away. this bill is not only giving offenders more confidence in invading womenâs spaces but it also gives them a legal right to be there that makes it so women cannot fight against them in court and obscures the real nature of their crime. before if a male entered a womanâs restroom or locker room and whipped out their dick they would be thrown out and incriminated-no longer. now they have a right to be there that is protected by law and if women are uncomfortable with it we have no choice but to, AGAIN, go and make our own spacesâŚ.AGAIN!) kind of makes you think of this, just replace âmenâ with males/trans women:
Iâm really tired of the #NoTrueTrans âargumentâ. They can fuck right off.
@mediamattersforamerica are you going to acknowledge the truth about allowing males into the womenâs bathrooms and female only facilities?
