I had my second video call with my surgeon today to discuss adding lipo to the surgery to reduce the chances of dog ears and I am so glad I did it. Yes the anxiety kept me up most of the night and I briefly fumbled my wording of the question, but I feel so much more optimistic than I did before. She was very kind and explained the procedure and how it would be done and she made feel like my questions weren't silly or I was wasting her time. Just very happy with myself for pushing through the anxiety and I am very excited now for my surgery.

There are so many people that are pro disability rights until they find out disabilities can be gross sometimes. It's so wild seeing the same people advocating for more mental health talk losing their shit over a depressed person not brushing their teeth or cleaning their spaces, or people who totally support physically disabled people until they find out I once pissed in a cup because I was in too much agony to get out of my bed, or that sometimes cups and food sit in my room longer than they should because I physically can't get up to put them away. Disabled people sometimes have incontinence, disabled people sometimes have bad hygiene, and still deserve to be supported. It's so fucking performative and it pisses me off. Even other disabled people act like this. Shaming people for stuff they can't control doesn't help anyone, just makes you an insufferable person.

#deadass have been shamed for being so depressed at one point in my life i didn't brush my teeth or shower #for like 2 weeks #but this person loved to advocate for mental health awareness #i also hate when people think my knee pain isn't that bad but I'm sat there unable to get out of the one position that helps the pain #to get a refill on my drink until I'm sobbing with a headache #oh also when the shower in my bathroom broke i had to the use the shower in the bath and it was so tall it was fucking impossible #to shower home alone because I couldn't get because of my knee #but nooo my knee is fine #its so fucking exhausting to deal with people like that #chronic illness #chronic pain #disability #chronic fatigue #joint pain

I reblogged a post similar to this so credit to them for the idea. But here's my list of things I'm excited for after top surgery in October

1. To be able to sleep shirtless

2. To be able to go out more often and not have to spend so long trying to get my binder or sports bra on

3. Go to partners family's house for Christmas and finally meet their extended family

4. To be able to go swimming again. I tried recently and my dysphoria was awful

5. To be able to wear clothes I actually like that fit instead of clothes too big to hide my chest

6. To be more likely to do my physio stretches because right now my chest really limits

7. To be able to shirtless around the apartment when it's too warm

8. To be able to shower and not feel like I need to rush it because I'm too uncomfortable

9. No underboob sweat! Please I need it

10. Less back pain

11. To be able to go to uni, right now I feel like I can't because I'll be constantly hiding myself

12. To be able to donate my old binders

13. When getting out of the shower I can just wrap the towel around my waist

14. Get a bath without feeling dysphoric

15. To be able to go on more walks

16. Not having to lift my chest to apply my T gel on my thigh (it's so fucking annoying. I can only reach my right thigh so one thigh is hairier than the other)

I highly recommend Forvo.com, the website where native speakers of a language contribute their time and voices to read words and names in their own language. It is a fantastic way to expand your world, open up your ears, and it's way more likely to nab a hit than just googling.

unfortunately very true. Doing Better does not always mean never being upset or never being triggered or never having trouble. often Doing Better means experiencing those things and being able to keep going/cope healthily/move on. if you’re in a bubble with no sensation, if you’re numbing yourself out, that’s not what recovering really is. it won’t help you have a happier life it’ll just make your world smaller and smaller until you can’t fit anywhere anymore. gotta learn to make peace with the hard stuff too, that’s the only way to keep going

Btw i discovered recently that youtube subtitles censoring swears is based on the creators side of things.

It is turned on by default and id really like it to become more common for youtubers to turn it off. Its a fairly burried setting.

But i think a lot more creators should turn it off because of the above reasons. But also i think its an assumed default so people dont think to check if they have any control over it (myself included)
