Early morning in the palace was always busier than Roman would have liked it, though he doubted any commoner outside his servitude would have thought so. Having inherited the reigns from his late parents when he was barely over twenty, the young lord found himself tackling new responsibilities at every turn, though his advisers claimed that he was doing a stunning job to that end.

But today...the morning tasks were practically an indulgence of his subjects--he had more than enough knights in his employ, but to forsake the annual tryouts would be to disrupt the ambition of every villager that had their heart set on the title. So Roman entertained the ceremony for the sake of tradition, and with his small court of village chiefs, he sat through countless dull auditions, making noting a chief’s favorite or relative occasionally or persuading a stubborn citizen out of his great hall with the pledge to contact them if they had the chance to receive a knighthood.

Nothing had been particularly interesting--that is, until she stepped into his courtyard. Even before his ascent to the throne, Roman had only ever seen men enter the tournament--most of whom were scrawny, ambitious children or old men who had nothing better to do with their time. It was exceedingly rare for him to see a women at these auditions, and much less one so petite and delicate looking--she was probably only barely of age for courtship. 

Roman watched the girl carefully as she stepped further into his hall, noting the distinct blood red cloak draped over her shoulders and short black hair as an amused smirk played at his lips. “Aren’t you a little young for this audition, Red?” he asked her softly, winning a few quizzical looks from the village chiefs as he waited as he waited for a response from the girl.

Cerise could see his emotions and attitude towards her shifting in his face and one revealed emerald eye and she couldn’t quite peg if she’d screwed up already or not. But the response she received wasn’t quite the one she was imagining. With him closing in the space between them, she flinches, watching his motions like a hawk.  His voice rang like bells upon and a huge weight was immediately lifted from her shoulders. This meant she had a shot. This was her chance to make the difference she’s always wanted. This was the big league now, with Roman possibly a contender for partnership, Cerise was that much closer to finding her target. With a nod and a hint of a smile, she turns sharply to unsnap the hoop from the door, reverting it back to its whip form and placing it at her hip. Gold hues scanned back to where Roman stood and with a little more confidence than displayed earlier, she says: 

“ Lead the way, handsome~ ”

Drinking with the crime lord of Vale? This was more or less one of her better days thus far. Of course they’d have to be inconspicuous as he was in fact a wanted man, so where they’d go, she drew nothing but a blank.

Roman smirked a little as he watched her shift demeanor at the drop of a dime, and he strolled past her slowly, leaning towards her just a little before he cleared the door. “Don’t mind if I do...” 

Roman’s attention turned back to the path outside the warehouse as he briefly considered a place they could go. The Club was always an option, but...the amount of noise could prove troublesome to the both of them--not to mention that there were smaller bars in the area, many of which had a better selection of alcohol, no offense meant to Junior. 

Roman’s eye flitted across the open space as they walked and upon reaching the nearest crosswalk, he recalled being decently acquainted with a pub owner down the street. It was a moderately sized location, if his memory served--small enough for them to hear each other, but still busy enough so that any private affairs would go mostly or completely unnoticed. 

Roman paused considering his status as a wanted criminal before smirking a little wider and holding his arm out to Cerise. “You might want to stick a little closer, doll face. You wouldn’t want to lose me in a crowd, now would you?”
