Why Marinette isnāt the character as sheās made out to be
Today I bring you something thatās been on my mind for a while now, and that is the reason why I think Marinette isnāt the character sheās made out to be.
Now, I know itās strange that Iām saying this, but there is good reason behind it.Ā
A big chunk of Marinetteās character is her crush on Adrien.Ā
Marinetteās crush on Adrien has been made apparent since the very first episode of season 1. Almost every episode (if not all) has her fawning over Adrien in one way or another. See, that wouldnāt be a problem, if her crush on him wasnāt so obsessive.
I donāt know if itās just me, but I do not lash out or get bothered when another person interacts or flirts with my crush. In fact, I couldnāt care less who decides to talk to my crush, everybodyās got a life of their own.Ā
Marinette does, in fact, the polar opposite of what I think. As shown in Volpina, Marinette getās mad when she sees Lila flirting with Adrien, proceeds to SPY ON THEM when they go to the library, and then blows up on Lila at the park. Most people Iāve met give Lila a bunch of crap for lying, but then gloss over on how Marinette literally HARASSED her. Not only that, but as Ladybug, whoās supposed to be the protector of Paris. Iām 99% sure that if it werenāt for Lila flirting with Adrien, Marinette wouldnāt have gotten mad. It just doesnāt fit Marinetteās character (The one weāre told she is, anyways). As theĀ āsweetest girl in Parisā, Sheād most likely just brush off Lila calling Ladybug her best friend. She might have even tried to become an actual friend to Lila.
Yes, Adrien does get jealous of Theo in Copycat, but he doesnāt even yell at Theo. Chatās just very passive aggressive and boisterous towards him. Marinette, on the other hand, friggin suits up just to go yell at a poor girl who happens to like a MODEL (Like dang Marinette give the girl some slack). Even Adrien can see that sheās being irrational.Ā
This shows that Marinette is very possesive towards Adrien. For her, itās either her way or the highway when it comes to him. Sheāll stop at nothing to make sure that Adrien is hers, and only hers. Yet, sheās so insecure that she canāt even bring herself to talk to him normally most of the time. Itās like she just expects Adrien to hang tight and not have interest in other girls while she tries to gain enough confidence to make a coherent sentence around him.
Weāre supposed to believe that this expectant, overbearing, possessive girl is the sweetest one in Paris? No honey, that spotās been taken by Rose.
To be honest though, I kind of like this. Why? Well, I used to think that Marinette was a bit too perfect, what with her friendliness and herĀ ācuteā clumsiness, but once I thought about it, I realized all of this, and I was M C S H O O K. This girlās got the biggest demons in the show tbh.Ā
Like, who cares if your motherās not AWOL? You have enough insecurity and possessiveness to reach and surpass that lol.
God people are gonna hate me for making this post.
