The Between-Trilogies Journey of “Jake” Skywalker

I just watched a video that tried to sum up what we know of Luke in the “new canon” between Episodes VI and VII. It was really about explaining his game, comic and book appearances under Disney.

So according to the new canon, Luke disappeared almost immediately after the Battle of Endor. He stopped all involvement with the Rebellion/New Republic, even as Leia became a central figure within it.

Instead, he traveled to find old Jedi artifacts and items that connected to the Force somehow and only spoke with his sister two or three times between then and opening his new Jedi Academy more than a decade later, which is apparently part of why her shipping Benny the Emo off to his new Jedi school in some hellhole of a planet was so hard on Private Benjamin: He barely knew this uncle of his, after all.

I want you to now stop and think back on the events of Return of the Jedi.

Do you believe that Luke Skywalker…

…the man who was so excited to discover that Leia was his sister and who promised her that she’d come to learn the Force with him…

…the man who just went to the trouble a week or so prior of planning and executing an elaborate rescue of his best friend on Tatooine…

…the man who personally went off to face Darth Vader and the Emperor alone, just because one of those people was his blood, his family, and he refused to give up on his own family…

..was gonna drop all his shit and abandon all of those new friends fucking immediately after the end of the film so he could look for some Jedi compasses and Jedi seeds and fucking shit like that? That he would almost never speak to his new fucking SISTER ever again?

Is there goddamn chance in hell that this is the same character?

Does the current regime in charge know anything about Star Wars? Did anyone at Lucasfilm even watch those movies before plotting out their sequels?

Something a bit different from my usual post but something I believe in. Publish Disney canon sure, but continue the old expanded universe. Personally I believe it can be run as an alternative universe. It had been going for years, and was enjoyed and loved by many star wars fans. The Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic Era were personal favorites of mine. Please share this. Let’s help it gain ground.

Anyways, here’s the actual canon of Luke Skywalker. He got married to Mara Jade, who was Emperor Palpatine’s badass Force-sensitive assassin, and he had a kid named Ben Skywalker. He didn’t run from his problems, he didn’t let setbacks slow him down. He faced his problems head on, became Grand Master of a New Jedi Order, and fought alongside the New Republic to bring peace to the galaxy.
