it deserves to be read and remembered, and her definition of intersectionality deserves to be read from with her words and examples rather than summarized by other people who may not fully understand.

sociomisogynized (adj.)

to be the target of misogyny even if one is not a woman; to have misogyny enacted upon oneself due to being seen as female through the lens of society

this is a word i've been bouncing around on introducing for some time now. as one can assume, it is meant to be a similar word to transmisogyny, but not to replace it. i've been considering it a lot due to their needing to be a term for the experience of trans masculine people experiencing misogyny while not taking from trans feminine terms to do so. thus: sociomisogynized.

it's original form was actually sociofeminized, but i actually felt that this did not linguistically illustrate properly the way it's a negative experience for all victims; the linguistic reading of sociofeminized would have you believe you're being read as a woman in the eyes of society (not wrong necessarily), but without any of the negative issues which come with this (actually wrong; both trans women and trans men face different issues as a result of being seen as women in different capacities. trans women as "fake" or "wrong" women invading spaces, and trans men as "wrong" women trying to escape their purpose, women needing to be "corrected").

sociomisogynized is much clearer: victims of misogyny are seen as women in some capacity to be treated misogynistically in the manner this term is meant to describe, and misogyny itself is (obviously) negative.

as for the actual intention of the term itself, sociomisogynized is meant to function as a term to describe the vast and varied yet shared experience amongst all trans folks in which we are all victims of misogyny in some capacity, as we are all seen as women in some way, whether we are "failed" women or "fake" women—it is a category of otherness which still intersects with womenness in the eyes of a cruel and hateful society.

as stated before, it is not intended to replace other terms such as transmisogyny. if anything, it can function as an accompanying term.

I've known a number of non binary people in my life and I think single biggest conclusion I can draw from that is that non binary people are not the same. Like if Men fit in box A and women fit in box B, people really, really want nonbinary people to fit in a theoretical box C, and it just doesn't work like that. They are outside the boxes. They defy any simple categorization because they are not a third way of being, but every other possible way of being.

Being supportive of binary people is relatively simple, they have decided to sort themselves into one of the boxes that we have lots of experience interacting with. Being supportive of nonbinary people can be comparatively tricky, because you have to resist the urge to create box C and drop them all there. That's how we end up with various prejudices like "woman lite". Humans really, really like to categorize things. It helps us think. Unfortunately, sometimes it helps us think wrong.

If you have a non binary person in your life, I think it is important to take the extra effort to learn about them specifically.

i really struggle to operate on modern internet sometimes, which is shaped around detailing all of your minority allegiances and neurodivergencies and intersections and reclaimable slurs. all so we can play oppression olympics about who is and isn't most oppressed and still end up with white people somehow "winning" the race while talking over every BIPOC individual within the universal vicinity

like i don't want to tell you a lot of that shit. quite frankly most of that shit is none of your business. you don't need to know a vast majority of things that are much more exclusive to my medical professionals, and that is doubly moreso the case as someone who is a stranger on the internet carrying inherent biases instantly applied to whatever you read about someone in their bio.

all i really have to say about the tara knight situation is that it's fascinating to see the way the conversation has turned around within transfeminist circles compared to those surrounding other (white) cancelled tgirls

now, do i think this is necessarily an incorrect response? no, tara knight's article was fucking nasty as well as a joke of an "article" that attacked the crime of daring to be disabled and a trans women. which is fundamentally incompatible in her eyes, as to be transfem, to be a trans woman, you cannot be disabled, because to be disabled you must be cared for, and that is actually just learned helplessness, a male trait. so, yknow, fuck her.

but i think it's interesting to see rhetoric changing and i'm seeing posts like "if a transfem with a platform does something terrible, it's okay to just block her, you don't have to post about it or defend her for being transfem despite her doing something/being terrible" which would have been awesome to see for previous fiascos (regardless of how you feel about whatever comes to mind).

like i think we could all do a little better with more of this, and that's not because i'm "a dirty harasser who wants transfems to suffer" or whatever. but because there's been a lot of people who have been dishonest with each other and themselves about their feelings out of a sense of obligation to defend their controversial tgirl idols despite not actually having their hearts in it.

i don't think it's that surprising that this change is only surfacing after someone looked up to within the community has turned on them and spouted such vile rhetoric that it can't be ignored. i don't know what it means for the future. i do think, though, that it was kind of inevitable, from someone, somewhere.

I'm going to talk more because it's my blog and I can but! I do actually want to point out how it's not just middle class and upper class white girls doing this. White women of all classes have a long-standing issue of both not recognizing the privileges they have (or wanting to preserve only their privileges) and being quick to throw them away For Men. Because at the end of the day. They're white, they still will not face as many issues as non-white women do when this effort, privileges, and right to self-determination are gone. Also in general poor white people for the most part have yet to make the connection that being white does not save them and but they have more in common with non-white people than white people of higher classes. Most poor white people have yet to realize that the entire governing body and general upper classes of society do not care for them - not just partial pieces of the government they don't like, all of it.

We can assume that poor white women aren't going "but I'm just a girl" because poor white women have been oppressed and abused as well. But you can see day-to-day examples where that's blatantly not true and there are plenty of poor white women that not only do not recognize the value of education and the right to self-determination but they will willingly give it up and try to take others' away (at the drop of a hat sometimes too!).

Like, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be hateful or nitpicky but I live in rural oklahoma. Do you know how many poor white women I meet that discourage their daughters from going to college? Do you know how many poor white women I meet my age that don't believe in higher education even for themselves? And some of them use these serious version of "you're just a girl" because why would you need to go to college? Your husband is going to be the breadwinner? You need to know how to make babies and stay at home.

two spirit is an pan-tribal term coined by indigenous people in 1990, for indigenous people, to replace the term berdache, an offensive term that white settlers applied to indigenous people that fell outside of the western lens of gender and sexuality

two spirit isnt a "native version of nonbinary" because two spirit doesnt inherently mean someone is nonbinary. some of us are, but so many two spirited people arent. many people in our community also choose specifically not to label themselves with terms like nonbinary, gay, bisexual, etc, and solely use two spirit or another term from their tribe or language

it's interesting to me to see like. within queer communities the thing where if you said "things are really fucking stressful and awful for us right now and it's giving us a lot of really terrible feelings that don't have an outlet" ppl are like "yes, true" and then if you're like "it's far easier and safer to vent that frustration and fear on accessible members of your own community than it is to try to vent it on the people who are actually in power" they would be like "yes, true" and if you said "it feels better to justify venting that frustration and fear and anger if you can frame it in head as very important and righteous, rather than admitting that it's a coping mechanism being utilized by a fallible human being undergoing very difficult circumstances" they'd say "yes that's also true"

but if you're like "this is relevant to your own current behavior" with the implication that the intracommunity thing they're currently big mad about is actually not as important and righteous as they're casting it in their head, it's like "no no. not MY behavior. mine is rational and I am correct. the issue I am fighting with other queer people about like rats in a sack IS actually the most important issue to be addressing right now"
