Linear Motor Girl - Perfume fansub is up!
To commemorate Perfume’s cryosleep announcement and to celebrate 20 years since their major debut, this month’s translation of course is Linear Motor Girl.
This was the turning point of them transitioning away from conventional idol pop and embracing the futuristic technopop sound and look we all know and love them for (while still sounding retro, which is part of Nakata’s genius). It’s a song about love, comparing the heart racing late at night to the high speed of linear motor trains. It’s said that the MV was inspired by The Fifth Element and that the girls were surprised at first at their all-black cyborg-style costumes. LMG is considered part of what’s called the Near Future Trilogy (with Electro World and Computer City). LMG didn’t do great when it came out at first but it cemented their new musical and visual identity for the future. Looking back, it really is the first chapter of their new story.

First image was scanned from a print ad. The others were found on a page from a photography agency website that no longer works. I still included an archived link to the page.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer dir. Larry Roemer, Kizo Nagashima | 1964
if Rudolph has a mechanic nose, does that make it cyborg?
"Should Karen and Frank get together?"
"Should Elektra and Matt ever be a couple again?"
"Can Vanessa and Wilson ever feel that spark?"
Who gives a shit bro Foggy isn't here man. Until Foggy comes back no one's allowed to be happy.
no point watching DD without Foggy. Cheap ass Disney cutting the regulars to avoid pay hikes
THE GHOST IN THE SHELL (TV Promo) - July 2026
⠀
The fact that Himesh Patel was just cast in Ryan Coogler’s X-Files and his birthday is 10/13 is making me so happy!!!!
The actor joins Danielle Deadwyler as co-leads in the Hulu project.
Oooh, the guy from Yesterday? Profoundly odd movie, but he was good in it. :)
Also got an official synopsis for the new show here,
“Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”
Hm, I wonder if the plot ends up being something like the Current Administration assigns the two to the X-Files as an alternative to firing them (ie the DOGE guys want to fire them for the standard racist/sexist reasons, but they're too high profile for that to fly publicity-wise, like maybe Himesh and Danielle's characters solved a famous kidnapping case or something), so they're exiled to the Basement to basically pressure them into quitting out of their own presumed professional frustration...
Only that because they're in a setting where paranormal stuff is actually real, rather than quitting to start podcasts or become a consultant for a TV show or something, the pair end up applying the same energy they were using to prosecute human traffickers and white supremacist terrorist cells to investigate UFO abduction cases, Bigfoots, and that one leprechaun sighting in Alabama back in 2006.
Or how the 2016 Clown Plague was actually the clowns trying to warn us about Trump and Brexit actually.

I used to dream of seeing these villains in a live action Batman film
Really love d.va <3
