“Doesn’t matter, you heard the lady, lets go.” She’d say, following Agatha into the trial. She felt something shift in her the second she stepped inside. She knew this room.
It was their living room. When Nicky was alive, and all was well. This was her and Agathas living room. She felt her heart drop.
Agatha had already had her trial, therefore, this was hers. She felt a burn in her torso, it.. hurt?

Jen gave Teen a knowing glance as she passed him, following Rio into the next trial.
The room looked homely. It was unfamiliar. But Jen is perceptive, if nothing else. It only takes few a few moments to note a change in Rios demeanor, and then a golden picture frame on the left-most wall.
Rio, Agatha, and a child.
She approaches it, pulling it from the wall and inspecting it. She turned on her heels, holding the picture up to the rest of the coven.
"You better be ready, Green Witch" she said, voice softer than it usually would be speaking to Rio. If any of the rumors were true, this trail was going to hurt.

Teen comes behind Jen to look at the photo she holds in her hand, he sucks in a breath through his teeth once he sees it. Immediately he knows the boy must be Nicky, Agatha's deceased son. He wonders what painful truths this trial will bring to light
Rios jaw clenched, she didn’t want to relive this. The day she lost everything wasn’t a day she was excited to relive.
“What are we meant to do here?” She’d ask. The pain in her chest got worse. Why did it hurt?
( @mother-harkness @cansomeonetakemetotheroad @kalekare @winemothercalderu )
Agatha got up, trying to gather herself. She looked at her son, staring right at them. His eyes were dull, void of any emotion. He was wearing his favourite tshirt, the one with some cartoon on it that Agatha never understood. He looked so.. sad, so empty, it pained her heart.
"We talk to him," She says, walking towards him. Lilia tries to pull her back but she pushes her off, she needs to see her son again. She reaches the foot of the couch, sitting down on the floor, looking up at Nicky. "Nick... you're.. you're here."
( @nickythescratching )
After Agatha's trial, something had happened, Nick felt free for the first time in a long time to roam around. It was a special moment to see his mothers and be able to communicate even if it was in a inodordoxic way. He followed the women, unable to interact or touch anything until they entered the replica of their old home.
Something was different there, he felt stronger, as if he could reach out beyond the veil. He was there but still, it was like being buried in the area, things were hollow but heavy. His voice sounded distant and came with difficulty as he answered.
"Are you... real? Is it really you this time, mama? Where is here?"
( @mother-harkness @winemothercalderu @kalekare @theeegreenwitch @cansomeonetakemetotheroad )
Agatha let out a gasp at the sound of her son's voice after so long. She looked back to where Rio was standing, frozen in place. Her eyes met hers in a silent question, "is this real?"
@theeegreenwitch
The pain grew, it wasn’t that bad quite yet. She didn’t need to tell anyone.
“I don’t know.” It sure as hell felt real, was Nicky back? Was her boy back? Or was this just the road playing another trick on them.
( @mother-harkness )
Agatha noticed Rio clutching her chest. Before she could if she was okay, Rio's knees weakened, and she fell to the ground clutching her heart.
As much as Agatha hated to admit it, she still loved Rio, she never stopped. She hated how she still cared about her, hated that she had a soft spot for her, but at this moment, she didn't care. Rio needed her.
She ran to her side, put her arm around the other's shoulder, "Hey, breathe for me." Just doing this to help Rio pass the trial, she would tell herself but they both knew that wasn't the truth.
She tried to regain her balance, she really did. Yet her knees gave out under her, the pain becoming too much for her.
It reminded her of when she became death.
It was hard to focus on anything around, almost impossible even. The pure agony blocking out almost everything. She could feel someone rushing to her side as she fell. Rios eyes rang, her vision unfocused as she tried to fight through the pain.
Jen looks to the photograph, and then to the small boy who now stands in front of them.
Nicolas Scratch.
Jen had heard a hundred rumors about what had happened to Agatha's son. From the scene that now played out in front of her, she understood that the boy had not just been Agatha's... but Rios, too.
Her frozen heart gives an alarming beat. She places a hand on Teen's shoulder to steady herself.
"I think I was wrong" Jen whispered towards Teen, "when I said that Agatha traded her son for the Darkhold."
There was too much pain brushing against the walls of this home. There was too much love for that to have been true.
"That's him, Teen" she looked to Rio falling upon the floor, "That's their boy."
@mother-harkness @cansomeonetakemetotheroad @winemothercalderu @theeegreenwitch
Agatha was too busy making sure Rio was okay to really care about anything else. She cupped the taller girl's face, just like she had all those years ago.
She understood their trial, she understood that it was for Rio to accept that she was death, that she couldn't do anything to save people, to save her son, their son.
"Rio, look at me." She gently lifted her face, the act so intimate, it surprised the others in the room. In the corner, their son watched and Agatha wondered if he ever got mad at his mom for taking him away.
@nickythescratching @theeegreenwitch @kalekare @winemothercalderu
Rio knew she was a monster, and she hated herself for it. She hated herself for taking Nicky away, for ruining their family. If didn’t take Nicky she wouldn’t have lost Agatha. Yet she never had a choice did she? She never had a choice in becoming the monster she was.
She forced herself to look at Agatha. The pain easing slightly as she focuses on her love. Her eyes tracing every inch of Agathas face, trying to find something. Maybe the anger, maybe the hate she held for her for taking away Nicky. Or maybe love, maybe a part of Rio still held out hope that after all these years Agatha would still love her.

Agatha reached down to pull two of Rio's fingers and press them against Agatha's wrist. "Do you feel that? That's my pulse. I'm alive, I'm okay, and right now, our son is here, Rio. Breathe. It's okay."
Agatha hated seeing Rio so disheveled, she wanted to take all her pain away but she was also just so mad at her sometimes. She loved Rio still, and she felt pathetic admitting it to herself.
Rio held onto her as if she was the only thing keeping her afloat, to rio, she was. The pain eased as she felt her-Agatha alive. She was there, right in front of her.
Her eyes drifted to Nicky, their boy. Their son. That she took away. She took him away from them. God she just wanted to hold him.
( @nickythescratching @mother-harkness @kalekare @alice-wuing-ur-ass-lol )
Agatha wrapped her arm around Rio's in a side hug as she supported the other and helped her get up. They made their way towards the couch where Nicky was. At this point, she was sure both of them had tears in their eyes but Agatha didn't care.
She didn't care if teen or jen or lilia or anyone saw, she just wanted to talk to her boy again.
@nickythescratching @kalekare @winemothercalderu @theeegreenwitch
She leaned into Agathas touch reflexively. God she missed her. She made sure Agatha took the seat next to Nicky, rio got down on her knees to look the boy in his eyes. “Hey buddy.” She’d say softly.
( @alice-wuing-ur-ass-lol @nickythescratching @mother-harkness )
Nicky wasn't sure how to feel. He didn't want to see anyone sad. There were so many people there, people he had no idea who they were but his moms were there too. And now mom was sad because of him.
"I'm sorry mom, I'll get better, I promise. Don't be sad, I don't want you and mom to fight again because of me."
He couldn't explain how, but he felt like it was his fault. All he wanted was for his mothers to smile like they used to. He missed the good times.
( @winemothercalderu @kalekare @theeegreenwitch @mother-harkness @cansomeonetakemetotheroad )
Teen could feel tears welling in his eyes from the emotional scene before him,
he tugged on Jen’s hand, whispering to her
“Maybe we should let them have their privacy..”
