Thank you to everyone who commented in their tags or messaged me. Indeed, today is “Martin and Bosco Day”. I originally whimsically blazed this photo on 13 July 2022. I never expected Martin and Bosco to travel so far and make so many new friends. The experience has been such a gift for me.

It's been a while, but this week's one-word photo prompt is: tomorrow

"To tomorrow!"

Captain Janeway and Chakotay both had strong work ethics. They also both knew when to take time to rest. Kathryn was guilty of forgetting that second part more often than her first officer, but he did his best to be a good influence on her. As was common at the end of a week, they had reports to review and other "paperwork," as it was still called in the 24th century, to complete. As they struggled to focus on it all, Chakotay reminded Kathryn that this kind of work was not urgent and could wait until tomorrow. She thought of her Academy days, and how letting a task "wait until tomorrow" often resulted in an all-nighter several days down the road. She also knew he was right. Pushing themselves past their limits set a bad example for the crew, and it had been an eventful and tiring week.

So, the decision was made to let the work "wait until tomorrow" while they rested and simply enjoyed being in each other's company for the evening. Kathryn replicated a bottle of champagne before Chakotay prepared an excellent meal. They sealed the promise to come back to the work with a toast. The words they spoke as they clinked their glasses were also a promise to each other as they looked forward to a new day leading their remarkable crew home: "To tomorrow!"

This week's one-word photo prompt: comfort

Kathryn and Chakotay had been doing their best to keep a weekly appointment for a friendly game of velocity on the holodeck in between Voyager's seemingly unending adventures in the Delta Quadrant. Both members of the command team were incredibly competitive and would fling themselves recklessly around the space attempting to win each round. They had a tendency to forget that they were both over 40 and not Academy cadets anymore. During the final round, Chakotay tripped over his own feet attempting to out maneuver his friend and captain. Kathryn's phaser took out the disc, and although the holodeck safety protocols prevented the phasers from causing any real physical harm to the players, Chakotay was certain the beam came close enough to his head to make his hair stand on end from static electricity if nothing else.

A moment later, he realized he'd thrown his back out.

After a visit to sickbay- Kathryn had mercifully transported them rather than have Chakotay attempt to stand and walk- The Doctor administered some pain and anti-inflammatory meds via hypospray, repaired a misaligned vertebrae, and prescribed a few days rest until the residual pain subsided.

Kathryn did her best to comfort her dear friend and first officer. Chakotay couldn't get comfortable in his bed or on the sofa in his quarters, so Kathryn made him a pallet in the floor from a blanket and the furniture cushions. She offered to read to him, replicated a couple of glasses of wine, and eventually a cup of coffee for herself as evening turned to night. The Doctor had sent a hypospray with the command team to be administered every four hours, and Kathryn took responsibility for that routine as well.

While he would not have chosen to be in such severe physical discomfort, he could not have asked for a more attentive and caring partner to be by his side as he recovered. Chakotay was immensely glad and thankful for the comfort of having Kathryn take care of him.
