People who say that historical accuracy doesn't matter in a 'fiction' book for Nolan's Odyssey really pmo because The Odyssey is literally a part of a culture. Calling it a "simple fictional book" is reducing its importance and diminishing the mythology (and beliefs) of a whole civilization greatly.

i'm gonna go and say the thing. can we, as a people, stop detatching greek mythology from the real-life actual places where it came from and the history it is intrinsically linked to?

far from me trying to sound like a snob but, and i am going to hold your hand as i say this, the Homeric texts are historical documents before they are nice stories.

like, you don't need to hold a degree in ancient languages to talk about Odysseus trying to return to Ithaca, but at least try and remember that that is an island people live on to this day.

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

I finished the Heated Rivalry book. It was nice and I'm glad the epilogue showed that they did go through with Shane's plan. Also the dinner with Hayden extra i was mad at both Ilya and Hayden but a bit more with Hayden. Cause why tf you think that Shane is dumb enough to get with someone that doesn't like him, also feel bad for Jackie because she's with a dumbass and has 4-5 kids with him (can't remember the exact number).
