standing up bravely to say christopher's line "why not? you did it for me" did not land for me at all. it's another example of the show hoping you'd do the heavy lifing for it. the show never, as far as i remember showed us chris in a hospital and eddie losing sleep next to him. and okay, obviously that must've happened at one point or another, probably multiple times even, but the show never showed it nor alluded to it. hell the only reference we have to chris being at hospitals and doctor's appointments is when shannon says she had to do it all alone. and it's not like i need the show to spoon-feed me something for it to land, but you can't spend 95% of your finale doing a thriller then try to deliver some emotional beats via dialogue. the show excels when it remembers what it is really about: characters. so wasting so much of the season on big arcs that ultimately do nothing to move your characters forward—forcing you to pack whatever growth you need in a 2 min montage where again the growth is delivered via on the nose dialogue—does nothing but render these moments cheap and lazy

#best moment of the whole episdoe for me was when ravi revealed his gift for baby nash like yes!!!! he's kind of a fuck ass finance bro!!!!#this is a fun character trait you can make fun jokes and character moments out of yay!!!!!!!!!#but yeah my thought when i watched the episode was that i guessed it was referencing when Chris was like a baby? but like op says #the show has been very clear how absent eddie was from all of that and chris wouldn't have even remembered it #911

Okay but are we gonna talk about Harry on the ground with a gun his hand. Pointed at a white man. Are we gonna talk about Buck shouting "don't shoot don't shoot he's with me, the guy with the gun is with me" and running to cover Harry with his body just in case. Are we gonna talk about Harry dropping the gun and putting his hands behind his head immediately, even though SWAT was still on the other end of the hallway and the shooter was right next to him. Are we gonna talk about little Harry in the back of his dad's car, waking up to a gun pointed at him. Are we gonna talk about that.
