One of the many mysteries of the Sinnoh region.

A traveling trainer who never stays in one place for too long, constantly searching for the next big thrill. Nico’s particularly interested in legendary sightings despite not considering himself a scholar in any way, studying mythology purely out of curiosity as well as the potential to test his mettle as a fighter against the strongest of Pokémon. Despite his wandering lifestyle, he always seems to have the right connections and a place to stay no matter where he goes.

Good-humored seemingly to a fault, Nico’s personality can be best described as polarizing. Loud and argumentative, blessed with more courage than common sense and utterly immovable when he makes up his mind about something, he’s a great friend to have, going to any lengths to support those he cares about and understanding their problems like no other, but also the kind of person that no one would want as an enemy because there’s seemingly no limit to the things he’ll do to prove a point. Between his excessive friendliness, blithe disregard for the consequences of his actions and habit of giving nicknames without permission, he’s either described as charmingly annoying or just simply annoying.

Traveling trainers are nothing out of the ordinary, and even though Nico’s a very weird one, with an almost hypnotic charm that contrasts how he goes out of his way to aggravate others, he doesn’t seem like the kind of person with anything to hide. But the truth about him is, he’s not really human. His flesh may be human, but there’s something else in control, using him as a vessel and seeing the world through his eyes.

At the beginning of time, there was one original deity. It’s said that this singular entity created two others, which then gave origin to everything there is in our universe.

Like most rumors and oral traditions, some details were lost to time, including the existence of another entity omitted from history entirely. The few details left about Giratina’s existence led to them being known as an evil, destructive being, trapped in an alternate dimension due to their unbridled anger.

That wasn’t the whole truth, but it wasn’t necessarily false either. It was just an incomplete story.

Giratina, the god of antimatter, was created along with Dialga and Palkia to govern different aspects of the universe. Their power was meant to bring stability to the world and counterbalance Arceus’ ability of spontaneous creation- after all, matter and antimatter are two sides of the same coin, and one can't be made without the other, but as exact opposites they cannot exist together either. Before Giratina's creation, the universe was barren, as anything that came to exist would be instantly destroyed by the merging of those opposite forces and returned to a primordial state of pure energy.

However, that same power made their presence harmful to our world. After all, as the living embodiment of antimatter, any substance that came into contact with them would be instantly destroyed without leaving behind any remains. Instead of banishing the harmful elements that threatened to poison Arceus' creation, Giratina instead concentrated them all in one place, something they had no choice over as it was simply the way they were made, and to prevent the destruction caused by their simple presence, they had to exile themself in a dimension of their own making where antimatter is all that exists.

An unforeseen consequence caused by a lack of forethought. They remained in that world, only able to watch events from a distance, and soon anger began to overtake them, focused at the one who created them in such a flawed way to begin with. If Arceus didn’t know what was best for the universe, if they effectively had no idea what they were doing, then they didn’t deserve to be the one in charge, and the world they created shouldn't be allowed to thrive at Giratina's expense. That anger turned them into a vengeful deity, bringer of disaster and ruin, eventually becoming so feared that humans tried to remove all traces of their existence from history.

But as it turns out, given enough time in the equation, even a nigh-impossibility becomes a certainty. Their anger began to subside, leaving a sense of wonder in its place. What is it that they were missing? What was it like to actually experience the world, rather than just spectating?

Sooner or later, they would find out. If they couldn't directly leave the Distortion World, then they would find another way.

One thing I really like to do is leaving an idea cooking in the background and reeeeeeally thinking about the ramifications of what it means to get the most out of it

My boyfriend always whacks me because I take 9 billion years to make new OCs and instead just constantly rework the ones that already exist but I think it's good to take an idea that wasn't fully done the first time and then go

Okay how would I do that now

What is the intended meaning behind it

What's the actual meaning that it gives looking from an outsider's perspective

What is it that I didn't like the first time and how would I change it

What is it that I did like the first time and want to maintain

Sometimes I talk about my characters as if they write themselves like I was doing with Cordie earlier today and obviously that's not actually the case but basically a lot of the time I let the ideas flow and see where they take me and then I'm like

Okay let's look at this from the outside and see what it's giving

Do I like this direction (if so, how do I strengthen the themes I like) or do I hate this direction (if so, how do I make it stop giving something I don't want)

You'd be surprised at how many times people's characters start to head into directions that are arguably more interesting than what was originally intended
