Homemade Coconut Oil Treatments

The winter has been tough on my sin and hair, so i begged for at cure, and a cure i found! Coconut oil! Hair Treatment

Hair repair / regular conditioner

2 tablespoons of coconut oil

Mix it together and leave it in for aprox. 30 min, wash out and feel the result! Bodyscrub

1 dl of regular sugar

½ a lemon

½ a orange

2 tablespoons of coconut oi

Mix the sugar and the coconut oil together in a bowl, then press the lemon and orange so you only have it's clear juice, and mix it in with the sugar and coconut oil.

This worked wonders for my skin and my hair, now i can't live without it, hopefully this will help some of you too! Enjoy

Homemade Fall Decoration

Halloween and christmas is coming up, and those aren't cheap holidays, so i like to make my own easy-beautiful deco.

In this case using mother natures beautiful fall material. Using old glass water bottles, wire and multicolored branches. Hope you'll get inspired to do the same. With love, Catharina

Protein Pancakes

                              Easy, delicious healthy pancakes.                                         Homemade recipe What you need:

1/2 cup of oatmeal

1/4-1/2 cup of water

1/2 teaspoon of stevia (or other sweet replacement)

1 1/2 spoon of protein powder with vanila ( i use EcoProtein)

A tip of Becel

If you want:

Some sort of topping

E.g Strawberries, cellery, blueberries, icing sugar. 

Turkey bacon etc.

How to:

Heat up the pan, while mixing all of the ingredients, to a "dough", it has to be thicker than regular pancake mix.

Becel on the pan, and fry it on both side till its had a good light brown color on both sides.

Healthy Breakfast Fruit Salad With Skyr

Super simple and easy alternative to the sugar filt morning yoghurt with müsli, here a healthier alternative with more protein. Kcal: 223 What you need: 

1 dl of skyr ( 11g protein pr. 100g)

½ dl of soymilk with calcium and vanilla

1 banana

3 strawberries

2 passionfruits

If you want:

whatever kind of fruit you want

How to: Mix skyr and soymilk, cut the fruint and put it in. And there you go.  Can also be used as dessert. Bon apetit

Winter Inspired Healthy Root Soup

Yummy, low-fat and healthy soup to keep you warm in these cold times!

Ingredients for two portions:

2 Carrots

2 Parsnips( or big potatoes)

3 cloves Garlic

8 dl of Water

1 dl of Creme Fraise

Salt, Pepper, Paprika and a handfull fresh oregano

If you want:

2 Beetroot, gives it a sweeter tast

Fried bacon on top

How to: Chop all the vegetables in fairly big chuncks, and chop the oregano neatly. Pour into a saucepan with water, add all the spices and cook for 30 minutes.Then put the heat down to the lowest, and hand blend the mix together with the creme fraise, season if you want.

Homemade Natural Almond Butter

So easy and delicious, and in my opinion a much healthier alternative. I use this all the time for my celery and apples for at after workout snack. Ingredients for a "small" portion:

250g of whole almonds.

1½ spoon of oil of your choice( i use olive oil)

A pinch of salt

If you want:

Add a little cinnamon  

How to: Set your oven to 200°, place the almonds on the middle rack in the oven on some baking papir. They can't be dark, so keep an eye on them, and turn them every 3-4 min for 15 min, this is so they "dry out". Then take the baked almonds and blend them until it has a finely-powder texture. Then add the oil and salt and blend all together until it because "butter-ish". Then it should be all ready to use. Bon appetit

Healthy Breakfast Bananasplit

Stolen recipe from a friend of mine, so yummy :-)

A banan halfed

"Raspberry Mousse":

150 g of Skyr or strained yoghurt

A good handful of raspberries

A little water or soyamilk til you reach the consistency you want

Season with a little liquid stevia and vanilla pouder

If you want:

Roasted almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts

Strawberries

How to:

Blend all of the ingredients in the raspberry mousse, untill it because a creme/mousse.

Place the half sliced banana, and top off with the things in "if you want".

Low Carb Cheesecake

                                  And is high on protein. Heaven! Ingredients:

Bottom:

15 defatted almond flour

15 g of peanut butter

10 g of agave syrup

70 g of egg whites

Filling:

35 g protein powder with vanilla flavor

250 g of quark

170g Greek yoghurt 2%

50 g sukrin

65 g of egg white

2 tablespoons vanilla essence

If you want:

15 grams of dark ( over 85%) chocolate.

How to:

Mix the ingredients for the base together and press it into a cake form. It must only be pressed to the bottom and not against the edges. Spread it evenly.

Mix then the filling and put it into cake form.

Bake it at 160 degrees for 30-35 minutes. It is very important to check for 25-30 minutes first - it must in fact be more than baked, as it then becomes dry and does not taste nearly as good. It may still like to see a little unfinished out when you take it out and blobbe bit - it gets when cooled, so do not worry.

Put it to cool in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Then melted 12-15 grams of dark chocolate and drizzles over the cake.

Quinoa Tuna Salad

     Healthy-protein rich lunch or dinner. I usually eat this post-workout.

Ingredients:

Half a can of tuna

3 table spoons of corn

A good handfull of spinach

1 dl of Quinoa

If you want:

1 slices hardboiled egg

1 teaspoon of sesame oil

Salt and pepper

How to: First you cleanse the quinoa, then you boil it to the water is completely absorbed with 2 dl of water (rules of quinoa, 1/3 quinoa 2/3 water). Meanwhile you rinse and pull some spinach on a plate with a pinch of sesame oil on top. Then when the quinoa if finished you take a bowl makes a little mixed salat of the tuna, quinoa and corn, adds a little salt and pepper, and then pour it untop of the spinach. Bon appetit.

Everything in Moderation

Everything doesn't always have to be so complicated, so here a my simple sunday cheatmeal of the week (and then again not so cheatmealy)

1 egg

½ avocado

1 slice of ryebread (or dark bread)

½ orange

4 slices of bacon

If you want: A pinch of salt and pepper for the egg. Enjoy your sunday and  Bon appetit

American style Oatmeal Pancakes with Cocoa

Healthy organic breakfast, dessert or snack.

(4-6 big pancakes)

4 dl Oats(Havregryn) 

2.5 dl Water 

1 egg

2 big-with-top table spoons of cinnamon

2-3 table spoons of pure cocoa

1 spoon of vanila

0.5-1 spoon of baking powder

If you want:

  Replace 1 dl of oatmeal with muesli

Put a smashed banana in

Put a little sugar or sirup in for sweetness.

Leave out the cocoa cocoa in.

Top it with icing sugar/berries/nuts/sirup etc.

Add some desiccated coconut to make it more interesting

How to:

Hand mix oatmeal with all the dry ingredients, then add a little water (about half) mix it good together, then add the egg.  Add a little of the rest of the water until you feel like it reaches a point of thickness but still being liquid. I usually i dry fry it on a pan, but if you want you can butter fry it. Bon appetit.

Healthy Chocolate Mousse

                                           A guilt free chocolate treat! For a small portion (1-2 servings)

2 Avocados

1 fairly large banana

2-3 big table spoons of pure cocoa

1 spoon of vanilla

1 table spoon of sirup

How to: Blend it all together, and voila, you got yourself a nice healthy chocolate dessert.

You can serve it in cocktail glasses, and top it with whipped greek yoghurt and berries/nuts/dark chocolate as you please.

Healthy Food Healthy Mind

One of the main thinks that has helped, was a diet change, when your body feels good your mind does too. I usually eat a lot of vegetables,low fat dairy, nuts and a lot of fruit!

Low fat A38 yoghurt, 

fiber-ostmeal-banana-raisins muesli. 

Makes you feel good and full, and you know, you are what you eat, so when you eat healthy, you feel healthy. Bon appetit
