gardenwreath:
The beach was so full of lively and lovely scenery. Hairu had come to take pictures, so that she could try to emulate the scenes her cellphone captured onto paper. With her pants rolled up to her knees, Hairu stood in a tide pool, her bare feet in the wet sand. Idly, she knew of a certain someone that would scold her for such behavior, saying that she would drop her phone into the water. Yet, she wouldn’t do that, she would be careful.
She giggled as she watched wild life went about their business in the tide pool, eagerly taking as many pictures as she could. Hairu was so easily distracted that she almost did not notice the approach of another until she saw the shadow he cast. Looking up, Hairu did not expect to see the face of Arima Kishou staring back at her.
“Ah!” Hairu squeaked, and dropped her phone, just as she had formerly thought not to do.
“Arima… san…”
Arima watched Hairu’s face with a certain impassiveness. It’s not that he didn’t care about her, it’s just that this kind of behavior from her is almost... expected. He tilted his head as he watched her expression, his eyes on hers for just a moment before he very calmly reached into the water and picked up the phone, handing it back to her.
“You dropped this,” he said, his face still so neutral. It always was hard for him to show his emotions, and even moreso when he didn’t have any particular reason to. He knew she understood him well enough.
He paused for just a moment more, then offered her the tiniest of smiles. “I don’t think that your phone will work anymore. Luckily, I think they might give you a new one for free.”
