Missed Potential in PR
This is just me but something that's bothered me overall in Power Rangers, especially during the Disney era is the executives not allowing the writers to further develop potential romances in the show. Not even outside of allowing a pairing to kiss, often times they'd bring up the potential dynamics and moments between two characters and they'll just drop it without any closure or resolution.
One of the biggest instances of this is Kira and Trent from Dino Thunder. The two had an instant attraction to each other the moment he comes in and in the following episodes there's moments between the two hanging out and admiring each other. This ultimately cumulates during the white thunder arc where Trent realizes Kira is the yellow ranger and later reveals his own ranger identity. In this arc we can clearly see Trent was hurt at the fact he'd been fighting her and hurting her the entire time. But despite that, Kira doesn't blame him as it wasn't his fault and defends Trent from Conner and Ethan. My issue comes in when that arc officially ends and Trent finally joins the team is that after this point the writers drop the entire subplot. Nothing further becomes of the relationship between Kira and Trent. They're just left stagnant as friends and teammates.
I wanna state for the record that there is nothing in the show that says that either of them stopped liking each other. I rewatched the season recently myself. And from what I recall they don't really touch on them in any future crossovers either.
PR has been getting slightly better with their handling of relationships in Power Rangers under Hasbro with Nate and Zoey in beast morphers and Ollie and Amelia in dino fury however I feel like they're not writing romances to the best of their potential just yet.
But that's enough from me on this post. If you guys agree or disagree with anything I said on this post, please let me know in a reblog or comment. Also let me know how you would have personally had the two get together if you were the one writing the show.
Thanks for reading and have a good one.
