I have been doing a summer research scholarship in the ecology school, building a model that looks at the energy costs of escalating in contests over nests. We give males inheritable traits and run the model over many generations with the winners passing on their genes. It takes about ½ an hour to run per simulaton and we are running a lot of simulatons to try to explore how the parameters effect the trait distributions.

I get to use the unis high performance computing cluster which they called Katana. It has 100+ “blades” which have 12-16 cores. I think it is pretty funny that they called it Katana. It makes it seem like its from an anime or something haha
