something something despite the all horrors and tragedies of the world, love was there and that's all that matters
the problem with autism is sometimes you want to do something (brave) but you need someone to gently walk you through each step so you know what will happen. and people don’t like doing that
i had to phone a taxi today, scary
every time i see this post i think of that person who posted on reddit that they wanted to go to subway for the first time but they were scared they would say the wrong thing so someone gave them step by step instructions for the entire process and what all the choices would be and when they would ask what question and i just think
someone will
someone out there will see you and say "yes. the world is scary. but let me hold your hand and show you how to do it anyways"
everyone needs that someone, and everyone can be that someone
The subreddit r/explainlikeimscared is a surprisingly good resource for this. People are always very kind and thorough from what I've seen, and I spend a decent amount of time there giving walkthroughs and answering questions when I know the process.
SHARING TO HELP SOMEONE ELSE OUT!
My mom is terrified of driving, or more to the point, of getting lost. Before we had GPS, my dad used to take her on a "dry run" the night before she had to go to any new place, letting her drive but navigating and correcting her if she was about to make a wrong turn. Wasn't until I grew up and realized that my own anxiety often starts with "I can't visualize that place/situation/interaction in my mind yet" that I realized what an act of love this was and how great it is when you're able to pass that along.
Kudos to The Acolyte's wardrobe department making Qimir look so skinny and unassuming in all of the long-sleeved baggy clothing before the reveal because Manny Jacinto looks NOTHING like that.

You liked the original Astarion-in-the-style-of-Neil-Newbon, so I bring you the new and improved Inky Boi in the same style.

I feel like that kind of situation would immediately trigger fight or flight response in our little vamp guy. And we're all know - he'd choose violence. No thought.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this interaction with Araj?
"Naturally, I always ask first-" (these days, anyway) "I'm civilized. Unlike you."
He's been letting you handle this interaction up until this point, but her last dig was a step too far. But he barely deigns to address her - he's addressing all of you, in his party. Watch it slower, just for fun.
The snark. The side-eye. The hand gesture literally brushing her off. The measured glance to make sure she's listening to how much he #doesnotcare. Turning to look at the rest of the party.
Araj, thoroughly unimpressed.
But then she suggests something dangerous to you, personally. And now he's really pissed. Now she gets his full attention.
"She said no! You should learn the meaning of the word."
Punctuating the no! by leaning forward. It's beautifully disrespectful, he's talking down to her and wants her and you to know that she's not worth your time.
He's come a long way from that first Araj interaction in Act 1. Learned to say no, not only for himself, but for you.
