In light of recent events, I’m bringing this post back.

There are so many affordable and LEGIT doll options out there, and said options extend way beyond what recasters lead you to believe. There’s 5StarDoll, Doll Leaves, Doll Love, OnlyDoll, Angel Fantasy, Kids-Sky, Only Kids, FECT, Xagadoll, GuuDoll, Huajing Doll, MYOU Doll, and literally dozens more  that offer amazing sculpts at lower prices, particularly during event periods.

Please support the artists. If you need help finding a studio or sculpt that suits your aesthetic within your price range, I’m always up for assisting you—on or off anon. I thank my fellow community members who continue to stand up for the artists, as well those who once owned recasts but have since changed their stance after realizing the harm counterfeits bring to the hobby as a whole.

Take this with a grain of salt, because I’m hearing it thirdhand. But my understanding is the fakebabies are angry about S/L applying to claim the trademarks of some 90 different BJD companies. And honestly? I’m glad they are angry. They should be. But at the same time?

Pro-recasters? This is 300% your fault. Your purchase has *directly* funded this. You have literally *paid* for them to file for those trademark claims as surely as if you had filed them yourself. S/L are not good people. They are not doing the community a “favor” by “providing low-cost goods”. They are stealing. Do you understand that yet? They are *thieves* and ALWAYS have been. You have paid thieves, and you have knowingly bought stolen goods. You are the ones that turned them into one of those “big companies” y'all are always saying it’s ok to steal from. We have been begging you for literal years to stop. The companies, the *artists* have been begging you to buy legit. But you stuffed cotton in your ears and sang “la la la can’t hear you” or worse, flat out said you don’t care. There are millions of excuses, and each one has been shot down.

I hope you go legit. I sincerely do. But at this point, if you are even just the littlest bit conflicted, then you need to unfollow me. Don’t contact me about commissions, don’t buy any of the pre-made items I’ve made. If you have even the least bit of regret about your actions, and want to make reparations, then respect the fact that there are a lot of us that are very angry with you right now, and quite frankly? “I’m sorry” does not fix this. Even swearing to buy legit going forward may not fix this, because the damage has already been done. It is never too late to change, but if the worst does happen, then it will be squarely on your heads.

If you’re mad at Luo, then I suggest you take a good long look at yourselves. He couldn’t do this without you giving him your money. You helped him get to this point. It’s about time you held yourselves accountable.

But look, it’s not too late. Please go legit. If this shit has upset you, you NEED to go legit. You don’t get to support recasting and be mad when they take their greed to the next level. Please. Go. Legit. For whatever reason you decide to do so, whether you want our support or not, all I ask is you go legit, support the real companies so they can fight this and keep making dolls.

I saw on @puffypuffers insta with screen caps from a Dollfie Dream FB group that Luo, one of the top recasters in China, is now in the process of filing for trademark of various BJD companies to own their trademark.

Which means that those companies he’s filing for to “own” were to sell in China, from Taobao to even doll shows, they could face legal actions and could never sell in China again. The list of companies that have been effected and having pending trademark is already extensive, companies that aren’t even in China such as Dollshe, Fairyland, Iplehouse, Soom, Lillycat, Marina Byockova, Peaks Woods, DOLK, Bambicrony, Cocoriang, and so much more, he’s also even added trademarks in the US for some companies as well. Luo has every intention of chasing out the “competition” of the companies themselves so he can sell freely with no repercussions.

With him doing this, he’s literally eliminating the companies that he recast from, so will probably be a point where you no longer be able buy originally cast of those companies doll, but you’re only be able to buy cheap resin copies because those companies will eventually shut down due to losing a part of the market they sell to

I don’t know how else more to say that the recast situation just gone past ignoring now, because this gone from bad to beyond worse.

please, don’t support recast market, don’t buy it on aliexpress, ebay, amazon, don’t make excuse, don’t support this thief!

Actually going to reblog with ~photos~ from my low quality phone camera.

These two pairs are some of the oldest pairs I have in any of my heads right now. They aren't perfect, no, but in person and in motion they're lovely. They shimmer so much and have nice depth. I will absolutely be commissioning new pairs soon that better match what I want for them.

These are a newer pair but still a few months old. They are so shimmery and have iridescent shapes in them. They are gorgeous and still not messy?

One of my newest pairs from the unicorn/mermaid grab bags. In motion, they actually look like a swirl of blue and almost black. Hence why they're in my mermaid.

Again, I have a very cheap phone with a very low quality camera. But these eyes look exactly like the photo I purchased from. The other pair were a thank you gift but still really pretty and sparkly.

UV resin has become cheap and accessible + eye-making is super fun = abundance of handmade doll eyes! It’s a really obvious cause-and-effect, I dunno why anon seems so surprised about it. Same thing happened when alpaca hair became more widely available. (Weirdly enough people in this hobby LIKE MAKING THINGS TO CUSTOMIZE THEIR DOLLS, which continues to be a shocking notion to anons on confession blogs.)

First doll post is of course my gorgeous girl Lily, the only complete doll I have home at the moment. The first photo is most recent as she got some very sparkly ersa flora eyes. Hopefully with the long weekend I can sculpt her rabbit ears or at least draft her SOMETHING to wear finally.
