Listen. This fic ended me. The writing is the best thing Iāve seen in a long, long time. In fact, I would not hesitate to say this is one of my favorite fics, if not my absolute favorite. Itās sad and I know we all like to pretend Nicaise didnāt die, but this fucking fic... This fic... You need to read this. Itās like reading poetry. That last line... Iām dead.

Itās simply amazing and to be honest you should read it more than once because there are a lot of details that are SO subtle but so good. Every time I read this I come across something I had missed the last time I read it.Ā Ā

After all, he was now living his dream; he was travelling with his best friend without having to make sure their "I"s were dotted and their "T"s crossed. And, sure, Laurent was difficult to work with, to work for, but he was also great to look at and they made it work well as long as they were anywhere but in Paris. But when Laurent's past begins to cause present-day problems, Damen finds out those difficulties Laurent constantly displays were a bit more warranted than he could have ever imagined. And Laurent? Laurent finds out the truth -- and finds out how to smile.
If youāre looking for a fic that is well-written, has a cool plot, has long chapters and amazing characterization... read this. I think this is the best Damen Iāve ever read. You need this in your life, trust me.Ā
