I know that no matter what kind of injury a BL character gets they have to come out of it with a forehead bandage or a sponge bath (maybe even both) but I feel like in a show like this, where we are trying to determine what exactly is a lie and what isn't, these "standards" don't do so well.

I remember watching the trailer when it came out. which is strange because i’ve never watched any yinwar shows before so there was really no reason for the show to be on my radar. I also often try to not let trailers sway my decision on if i will or won’t watch a show. mostly because in BL, trailers seem to be a proof of concept more than anything and often change pretty intensely when the show actually airs.
and even stranger, i remember… uh enjoying the jack&joker trailer. so what the hell happened between watching that trailer and the show airing?
The answer? Nothing. Literally nothing changed.
and it wasn’t even a case of “i’m not interested so i won’t watch” it was fully “i can already tell that i am going to HATE this show so might as well not waste my time.” so where did that mindset come from?
Hell, i even saw multiple posts while the show was airing. No major spoilers thankfully (though, to be fair, i try to avoid major spoilers of any show just in case i do decide to watch it later) but I saw enough of the show to know that I wouldnt hate it. I mean, maybe these posts i saw made the show out to be boring? but it didnt ever seem to be a bad show?
Anyway, all this to say, I got bored a few days ago and decided to give it a chance and well… i love it. i am now in love with war (the person not the act)
I’m not done the show yet but there’s no point so far where i’ve been like… desperate to get my time back. sure there’s definitely points where i skipped (some characters don’t matter as much to me and if i miss a little bit of them then i don’t really care) or put it in 1.5-2x speed but that’s more a product of me binging the show rather than me disliking it (i fear that if i was watching it as it was airing i wouldn’t be fast forwarding as much)

first note, even though i have not posted anything re: the first two episodes, I will say that i currently like the show. I am fully treating this show as three shows packed up in one show. (I'm thinking skam where the seasons were following the same people but different main characters each season except this show does not have seasons)
I originally was not sure if i wanted to watch this show, aside from force and book I dont really know much about the other two ships and even still i havent really watched many force book shows fully so i was fully convinced i wouldnt like the show
Theres still a chance i wont like the show but right now the first two episodes have been funny. yeah I know, im a sucker for silly goofy sound effects and cuts and this show is doing it. its also (i think) the same director as we are and I LOVED we are so we'll see!
I think it is interesting that Arc likes Arm and is actually going for it, unlike most shows where theyll beat around the bush around this, I cant wait for Arc to "find out" that Arm was the one who posted that photo of him because i am fully convinced he already knows and is so ready to mess with Arm when he "finds out" (though i hope hes not too mean about this)

i feel like i dont have any insight on this episode (not that i ever have) but maybe as the show goes on and i get used to making these posts again i will
that being said, I am sick and gosh darn tired of this fucking trope (?) where you can be mean to someone as a way of "flirting" with the other person. I mean even po and sand were all like "if I didnt know any better i'd think hes flirting with you" like maybe its just difference in cultures but if a friend came up to me and talked about someone in the way that Arm was talking about Arc in the first two episodes i would stongly encourage that friend to stay the fuck away from that person, like why are we making it okay again to bully people as a way of flirting with them (i guess you could argue that in this case its less bullying and more like teasing (which whatever) but my point still stands, i wish that shows would do this trope less or at the very least have some genuine consequences to this bad behaviour. and NO getting Arm hurt in the car accident is not a consequence to Arc for his bad behaviour, like sure he felt guilty about it but obviously Arm had no grudges held against him for that (i'm talking i want genuine serious like… idk how to put it. and this show may not be the best example ( again, maybe this is more teasing than it is bullying) but if someone treated me as bad as some main characters treat their love interest they would not be getting a chance from me (to which you might argue, "well if you like that person before then even if theyre mean to you they would get a chance" but thats often not the case in these shows, like main character 1 is mean for no fucking reason and main character 2 is like i hate you…. wait a minute I LOVE YOU!!! and there is no real consequence to main character 1s actions, they have no real reason to change)) but anyway thats neither here nor their as i am currently liking this show but given the time that the show is taking place (2 main couples are already established) i am wondering i… idk i forgot what i was gonna say

Today I am going to make the most obvious point and realization ever. This point has probably been made a million times over before and yet here I am to make it once again.
I recently had the opportunity to try nom yen. I live in [NOT THAILAND] and finding sala syrup was really hard for me and I did NOT want to give money to amazon (especially not upwards of 30 dollars). But anyway, recently I found sala syrup in a corner store near me and I tried making nom yen (I didn't use any recipe because they all seemed to be pretty different and used no formal measurements so it was just sala syrup, condensed milk, 2% milk and my heart).
I tried it and....... it's not as sweet as I had been expecting it to be. I mean I have a bit of a sweet tooth but the way this drink was talked about in all the shows I had seen it in I was expecting it to be super duper sweet. I mean, it was for sure a sweet drink but whatever, that's not the point of this post
as the title says I wanted to talk about nom yen and its place in BL. More specifically I am going to talk about SOTUS solely because I can not, for the life of me, remember what other show it was featured in to the extent that it was in SOTUS (i swear theres another character that had Arthit levels of obsession with the drink but I CAN'T REMEMBER!!!!!!! UHGHGHHHH)
Anyway, in SOTUS we are introduced to Arthit, the LITERAL ASS OF AN UPPER YEAR (arguably not the meanest upper year but shhhhh) who can't help but be mean to Kongpob and his friends. And well, obviously the freshmen see him as a huge dick. And he does have to uphold this image (duh) but he does drop it occasionally.
When they run into each other for the first time (OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL AND ALONE) guess what GUESS WHAT!!! THATS RIGHT, ARTHIT GETS A NOM YEN. At first, we see him try to play off this drink, I mean he's embarrassed that he's getting this "childish sweet drink" he's supposed to be this evil manly mean guy.
HELL even kong mentions how it's "interesting that a hazer like [him] likes to drink nom yen" AND ARTHIT DOESN'T LEAVE THE DRINK WHEN HE LEAVES (which like always happens in BL) HE TAKES THE DRINK!!! HE DOESN'T WANT TO LEAVE THAT PART OF HIM OUT IN THE OPEN!!! HE NEED TO HIDE IT. (yes i am maybe reaching)
Anyway, we see this evil mean guy drinking a SWEET CHILDISH DRINK. ARTHIT IS A HUMAN!! HE IS MORE THAN THIS EVIL HAZER!! and like, this is even more so true because when he gets sick he ASKS HIS FRIEND, WITH NO SHAME (i haven't watched the show in a while so maybe there was some shame), TO GET HIM A NOM YEN. and then he sees kong getting him the drink instead and EMBARASSED, TRYING TO HIDE IT. LIKE HE DOESN'T CARE THAT HIS FRIENDS KNOW THAT HE IS A NORMAL AND SOMETIMES SWEET AND NICE GUY BUT THE FRESHMEN???? THEY CAN'T KNOW
because, like I said, I tried the drink, it really isn't that sweet. But they keep bringing up how sweet and childish it (the drink is). Why would they mention all that constantly if not to make a point about arthit?
The nom yen is more than just nom yen, it is his inner self (omg im so uh smart or whatever)
Anyway out of fear of this getting too long and me making less sense than I already do, I am going to end it here lol :3

Anyway, another thing that felt... off? was the pacing... kind of. It was weird. like, I know it is the first episode but so many parts of the episode felt like i was missing some information from previous episodes? if that makes any sense?

i am not a big fan of the fact that ongsa did not correct sun on the fact that she is a girl (on the ig chats) because it's just foreshadowing for a cliche that i dont really like (silly goofy misunderstanding that could be solved before it even happens but leads to them breaking up)
ONGSA IS ME! LITERALLY ME! SHE REACTED THE SAME WAY I DID WHEN THE PERSON I LIKED MESSAGED ME BACK! we are the same (i think everyone is the same though lets be honest)
i am... not sure how i feel about gemfourth not being in the show anymore, I think I am happy because i feel like if they were in the show it would end up focusing on the more than milklove and i need to see more women!!!!

Maybe I am alone in this but i really think that 2023 was a really meh year in terms of BLs.... I looked back at my MDL watchlist and I only have 10 shows/movies that i watched that aired this year. (That's compared to my 20+ that aired last year, most of which I watched last year...)
Looking back, the only show(s) i remember well is only friends... (I would add moonlight chicken but I genuinely do not remember much about it aside from the gemFourth arc, also im not gonna talk about msp because technically that aired last year :P)
Maybe I'm alone in this but i really feel like most shows this year just weren't hitting as hard as they usually do? (i mean, i looked at my dropped list and there are 5 BLs there that aired this year, so even if i didn't drop them I'd still have watched less than last year).
It sucks because i really did want to finish hidden agenda, dangerous romance, and a boss and a babe but i literally could not bring myself to finish them... I got so close to the end for all of them tooo.... it just felt like,,,,, all of these shows could have been ended in 8 episodes.
which brings me to my next point, i wish that BL production companies (i'm looking at you specifically gmmtv) wouldn't be so scared of making shows shorter than 12 episodes... like sometimes we don't need all that... Like i know that they (probably) have a formula but its actually starting to get on my nerves a little bit (a lot). Like why should i watch a show (*cough* gmmtv bl *cough*) all the way through when i know that every time i can accurately predict the last three episodes with a 95% accuracy
(someone looks at someone else (holds hands, hugs, calls on the phone, straight up just looks), they get mad at each other because "we've been dating for 5 minutes and you told me that you've loved me for the past semester but now that we are together you are 100% cheating on me and NO i will NOT listen to an explanation because i dont want to be wrong" (which, maybe i'm in the wrong for thinking this is silly, i've never actually been in a relationship :P, but even then, im not necessarily saying its silly, just that this is always what happens), they break up, they dont talk, they get back together (unsatisfyingly because...), they are still not able to communicate)

anyways this episode was so cute and i’m so happy with how this show ended (condolences to pat having to be around all those couples)

honestly, I didn’t write much down as I wanted to actually watch this episode without pausing (another reason for me posting this today so i don’t forget my thoughts (of which i have few))
I am so happy that Team got to talk to his aunt. That conversation was much needed. I mean, last time they saw eachother, she didn't say much to him which really just lead him to believe that she still was mad with him. I can't believe they had me nearly crying like 5 minutes in because of it as well :3
all the couples got a happy ending! though i will admit there were things that didn't happen in this episode that i wish they did (like team telling his parents that they were together even though they already knew because listen i love me a good emotional coming out to parents scene so i can live vicariously through that and pretend their parents comforting them are my parents accepting me as well even though i'd never come out to my parents)
like literally, all the couples got a happy ending. i dont just mean with eachother but like, manow got a role, prince's manager was more accepting, waan and tul... waan and tul... waan and tul... :3 they are all happy.
not a note on the show or the episode but the OST. around the 42-ish minute mark, when they were on the beach, there was piano playing in the background. and my mind, like so quickly, was like "holy shit, this is luckiest boy. i know that song when i hear it i love this song i cant believe they're using it here omgomgomgomg" but still i was like ehhh maybe i just like the song so much that im projecting and its not actually luckiest boy and they just had piano and then... it was luckiest boy (actually sobbing i love that song)
final note: i initially didn't understand why Team was like "hey win im gonna challenge you to swimming".. i was like.,,,, really?? all this for that??? and then i realized holy shit this is fucking so emotional. Last time Team challenged someone he loved to swimming competition, that person died... like literally they died. this part (him challenging win) while at first kinda confusing, is i think among the most emotional parts of the show. like this is where all the growth leads. he finally forgave himself, he finally trusts himself and the person he loves. like he is idk it just hit a little different once i realized that it was meant to be symbolic of all this growth
but yeah... Between us is finally over. any final thoughts? no absolutely not. As much as i loved the show i do feel that the rewatch value is kinda low (though tbf i did just finish it so of course im not going to want to rewatch it)
not that anyone really cares but i dont think there will be a series for a while where i am posting my thoughts as i watch it (though i may occasionally comment on my school president or never let me go as i watch them and other shows i already watched if i decide to rewatch or completely non-bl related shows (i still havent watched the last episode of show me the money 11 and i already know im going to have too many thoughts on that )) but for now, thats been me and my thoughts >:) thanks to all who read them lol
we have gone so far without singing or instrument playing why in the second last episode whyyyyy. like i wanted their issues resolved early in the episode but damn i never even imagined that it would be resolved by win singing a song. AND THEN TEAM DID THE SAME THING??? LIKE THEY HAD SUCH A MOMENT, TEARS, SOBBING, SAYING THAT YOU WISH YOU KNEW MORE ABOUT THE PERSON YOU LOVE AND YOU FEEL BAD THAT YOU DONT AND YOU FEEL BAD THAT THEY GIVE UP WHO THEY ARE TO HELP YOU AND THEN YOU SING A MF SONG WHYYYYY
lemme just clarify, i think that some shows can do music, and can do it well honestly it just.... even though team played his guitar for win in the novel, it just doesn't fit in here not when we are 11 episodes in, no guitar has been played, and yall are emotional af rn..,, like this is NOT THE TIME MY FRIENDS

anyways i can’t believe the show is almost over... after waiting years (literal) for this .... sigh
