whether you've been called stupid or see yourself that way,
whether you hate the word or not.
im so fucking tired of this.
theres so many jokes on this website blatantly calling autistic people and symptoms stupid.
ignoring any autistic person who isn't "smart."
shoutout to autistics like me,
who have bas reading comprehension, who struggle to understand things, who take things literally, who are called stupid every day of their fucking life.
Autism acceptance includes accepting all autistic manners of communication.
That means supporting autistic people who talk in a "very childish" way. (I do this a lot irl)
Autistic people who do "TV talking" (this means talking like a character from your favorite media,basically talking in quotes and copying their speech patterns,as far as I know)
Autistic people who use echolia.
Autistic people who are very awkward/quirky when they communicate.
Autistic people who are overly technical,or have very sophisticated and articulate speech.
Autistic people who mumble.
Autistic people who talk really fast.
Autistic people who can't control their tone of voice/inflection.
Autistic people who talk in a monotone voice.
Autistic people who use different kind of sounds,or body language to communicate.
Autistic people who talk slowly and draw out their syllables.
Autistic people who use a lot of sentance fillers.
Autistic people who use Aac devices,communication cards,etc etc.
Edit: acceptance of nonverbal autistics is also necessary. Nonverbal people deserve love,respect,acceptance,accommodation and support.
No fancy format for this post because i’m talking about a serious topic, if you care about native american people then please keep reading.
i’m starting this off by stating that 1. i am sick and tired of hoyoverse as a company, they have done too much racist shit and i no longer want to stay silent about it nor associate with it. 2. using native american genocide as shock value in a video game is racist, if you think otherwise then dni.
now onto the post:
it’s obvious that hoyoverse takes inspiration from cultures for each country (genshin), character (hi3) and planet (hsr), boothills planet had lots of things from native culture from what i’ve heard (more so boothill himself) and seen, his design is representative of plains natives/south western natives and mexican vaquero’s, mostly natives because of his clothing.
commonalities:
-long hair (we take pride in our hair, many tribes have different meanings for our hair being long and it is common for both men and women in tribes to grow their hair long, sometimes braiding it sometimes not)
-feather in the hat, these are used to show affiliation with/rank in tribes
-unsure of what exactly the little like strands on the blanket on his back is for, but our attire commonly has it, especially things like regalia or the capes/blankets rangers and cowboys carried with them
my issue is that they were openly racist about it, using our genocide to make the ipc look like bad guys (i understand they’re like public enemy number one in game, this isn’t the point), and once the ipc destroyed the planet their reasoning was that “they were uncivilized savages” (real racial slur against native american people). and that’s it, that’s the only form of “representation” they gave. that he’s visually native and that the IPC is racist to his people.
this is my fucking issue - the fact that this million dollar company had the chance to idk, spread awareness? make people see our culture if they’re gonna use it? not fucking kill them off because they hate minorities and poc??? this is kind of going off on a rant but as a native american i am fucking SICK of media and companies using us for some shock value bullshit, i can only imagine what racist stuff they’re gonna pull in natlan (genshin nation of pyro) since its supposed to be precolombus america and mexico.

wow i’ve discovered that hoyoverse also made it canon that the ipc not only colonized them - but also put them on reservations on another planet with only the elderly and children so that they could die out - what the fuck!!
When you're autistic, it's impossible to miss how much society normalizes child abuse.
I could dedicate my entire life to studying how to interact with people and I'd still never master the social skills that young children are expected to have on command.
Say the wrong thing? That's disrespectful and you're punished. And you don't even have to actually say anything wrong. Pretty much anything you say can be considered "giving lip" if your parent wants some excuse to punish you. But if you say nothing, then you get punished for ignoring. You also have to calculate your response to their mind game quickly because taking too long to respond is considered ignoring. Also, if you're being wrongly accused of something, saying nothing is considered a confession. And even if you somehow manage to say exactly what your parent wants in exactly the correct tone, they'll still punish you for "sarcasm" or "not really meaning it".
actually- my chronic & mental illness does define me- it's a very huge part of my life. it can't be ignored. it can't be placed on the back burner. it cannot be "powered through". it is there 24/7 whether or not i want it to be. i have to constantly explain to people why i do things is because of my schizophrenic and autistic neurotypes, or that im in severe pain from one of my various problems that cause pain
trying to mock certain disabled people who have to talk about and seek care for their disabilities on a daily basis is unnecessary and violent. it's oppressive. my disorders literally define me, my schizophrenia and autism dictate most of my behaviors. my body is constantly in pain, my guts are constantly affected by my IBS. i am constantly anxious from my PTSD and constantly dissociating from my DID.
if you personally feel as though your illnesses don't define you, that is great for you. i'm not saying chronically ill folks can't feel that way, but what i am saying is stop punching down on those of us who have a lot of their lived experience rooted in their disorders, diseases and neurotypes.
things go into remission or make progress with healing, but most chronic illnesses never fully go away and it's just bullshit to make chronically ill people feel like they can never complain about their issues. it's not an inconvenience to you, it's us expressing what we're going through. stop acting like us talking about our lived experience is an attack on your person. i'm sorry hearing that someone else is in pain sucks to hear but it sucks FAR more to BE IN PAIN
