there was a moment or two like early s3 that sorta solidified my adoration for senku and yuzurihas friendship and 1) its where yuzuriha was like "oh and youre expecting me to do ALL THIS?" in that polite threatening way and senku bowed all the way to the floor and agreeing to get her whatever she needed, and 2) when she asked for a loom and senku PROBABLY considered the fact that yuzuriha meant a simpler loom but he knows her capabilities and also wants her to have the best shit so he instead gives kaseki the specs for a whole industrial fucking loom. their friendship needed so much more screentime
thought of this immediately and was delighted to discover it’s the same op
"should we tell authors on ao3 when we have discord conversations about their fics" i don't speak for everyone here but if y'all ever find a group chat discussing my fics you can should must and WILL send me screenshots of the whole damn thing. inflate my ego. gimme
All this discourse over who does "painting with light"
Hiroshi Nagai's paintings need sunglasses to look at.
They look like how it feels to walk across a parking lot on a 98° summer day without a speck of shade in sight.
They look like heaven but also like you'd burn your bare feet on the ground.
Even when you can see shade you know it's not enough and the minute you step out you'll be burnt to a crisp like a vampire.
And it's BEAUTIFUL
I'll throw in the wonderful Eizin Suzuki into this ring too, a man whose work just breathes light without actually using dynamic lighting in the usual way. It's no surprise both Nagai and Suzuki are both considered prolific in art pertaining to the city pop genre because they're able to paint these kinds of scenes with a delicate touch.
This feels like I could trip on that radio and fall right into that water, feeling the crystal waves as I drop in.
And this, a nice stroll down a resort strip, where my sunscreened skin could literally feel cooked if I leaned too close to the tiling.
And then a nice stretch of summer street, wherein you could see your face in the flushed red of that car provided it didn't blind you from its sunny reflections.
I don't think I even need to say anything more, Suzuki's a massive influence in how he even places colours so warmly in such unorthodox manner. It's a naturally sunkissed talent~ 🌊
i think part of what made supergirl so special is that the whole time watching i never felt like kara was sexualized or objectified at all, normally in women superhero movies theyre in skintight suits or have perfect makeup on or there's a fight scene that just so happens to lift up their skirt (and that did happen but she was wearing a skort because of course you would if you can FLY) but that just didnt happen. her hair is messed up basically the entire movie and even at the heroic full body shot at the end she's just floating over everyone, not saying some stupid "you just got beat up by a lady!" one liner or doing some unrealistic pose just to make a good screenshot. she was always just a person. and parts of the story definitely connect to her more because she is a woman but being a woman didnt get in the way of being a person (...kryptonian).
btw I’ve found these stretches from the WAK blog very helpful when knitting a lot:
Plus make sure to take breaks regularly - and stop if anything starts to hurt!
especially with gift knitting I know it can be tempting to push through it for a deadline, but it’s really not worth causing long term injury. (And anyone knit-worthy should be understanding of that, imho.) Stay well :)
Also good for artists drawing with pencils/on a tablet/with a pen!
Also good for writers

fuck it, i'm curious. reblog and tag with the first fictional death to ever rewrite your brain chemistry and/or make you cry like a baby. mine was ares from the underland chronicles (who, for context, was a giant bat.) to this day i will weep if i think too hard about it. okay, go.
I'm sorry but if I see one more middle aged man complain about how Milly's supergirl is unlikable and obnoxious, I'm going to combust. Shes REAL. She is messy and kind of a bitch and she's hurting but she's also badass and she's TRYING. That's what being a woman is!! I loved her!! I am her!! Guys please.
A thing I really appreciate about supergirl is that Kara is never shown to be pretty. Yeha she is pretty regardless because they casted milliy fucking alcock but the never show her to be put together. They let her be messy. They let her be rude. They let her fuck up. Every time we see strong confident women in media they are always wearing the tightest bodysuit and look beautiful even when they have been beaten to shit. Not here. Every scene Kara is in she looks like a car had run over her. And they don't "transform" her and make her look prettier by the end to show that she has started to heal. Nah they keep her like that and they change how she acts. I love supergirl.
Finally, a "jaded alcoholic man whose loved ones are all dead avenges his dog" movie where the man's a woman and the dog doesn't die.
the trifecta
[looking at people younger than me] you have your whole life ahead of you [looking at people older than me] you have your whole life ahead of you [looking at myself] its over
