Ultimately, people don't feel good when they are actually at an unhealthy point.
When that happens, when they don't feel good, when they can't do the things they need and want to do, they need to be encouraged to take steps towards health. Seeing a doctor is often a first step.
As it has been said before in this debate, what is currently defined as "obese", especially for women, is actually, more often than not, a healthy state for many people.
Fat positivity is a movement trying to gain ground against the pathological, misogynistic belief that women and girls need to be stick-thin in order to be conceived of as beautiful and therefore of use within patriarchy. The fat positivity movement is also trying to clear up the LIE that being fat is a medical condition in and of itself, the LIE that people who are fat are automatically unhealthy, and the LIE that fat people can't also be athletic and muscular as hell.
No one should be spending time obsessing over fatness. No one should be regarding fat people with disgust and pity and whatever other cringe hateful nonsense.
Women are so fucking obsessed with being fat and with other women being fat and it is all very sincerely pathetic. Like, I cannot tell you how sick and tired I am of having to be around normie women who just fucking insult themselves, and all other women, by incessantly talking about how fat they are and how not fat they used to be and wish they still were and how dare they have cream in their coffee and aren't they devils for wantinh a fun snack and isn't it admirable that so-and-so lost 10 pounds bc they could never and oh so dearly wish they could. Shut the fuck up!!!
Life is for living well, and plenty of fat people are hale and hearty as the sun, and will remain so long after skinny marathon-running vegans grind themselves into dust with stress and chronic lack of joy.
If you really care about people's health, you can just advocate access to healthy, balanced meals, and promote the wonders that plenty of good and silly exercise can achieve for the mind, body, and soul.
Fat people aren't helped by rando strangers assuming, let alone vocalizing and insisting upon, a demonic horde of scientifically unfounded bullshit notions about them. None of it is true, and it's point-of-fact psychotic to treat people in such a way based on their looks.
Anyone who argues that fat positivity is anything but a feminist necessity at the moment is being purposely obtuse, imo. Like, women and girls are literally starving themselves to death bc they would rather be dead than fat, and you have the gall to say that the fat positivity movement is aiding and abetting patriarchy. What.
The Goddess of Willendorf was once considered the epitome of health and beauty, and it wasn't under patriarchy that this was so.
I hope we get to a place as women where we strive for true health, inside and out, instead of harming ourselves and one another by constantly preaching and slaving away for patriarchal beauty standards and corporate/medical abuse.
