first of all big shout out to all the armys who uploaded the mv to youtube because i don't pay for spotify!
there are SO many references to their past mvs and I'm definitely not going to be able to spot them all, but the swan is a pretty clear nod to Black Swan right. (also. thinking about how swans represent love i'm seeing the signs ot7 are putting down👀) but on another note, they can also mean transformation and wisdom/enlightenment. showing BTS 2.0? transforming from the old bts to a newer version, but still not letting go of nods to the past.

if you slow it down you can tell jimin is laughing at namjoon falling off the sofa xD also. jimin in that shirt was a great choice by the stylists, jinmin are absolutely slaying in that corner

there are so many really quick flashes of scenes throughout this mv, I can barely pause it at the right time even on 0.25% speed. i think they're mostly group poses? which is quite fun if you get it at the right time :D unfortunately the quality is awful so i won't be posting ss

yoongi climbing the gate a reference to Fire mv where he scales the fence. but this time he doesn't get over - implying that they're more trapped by their fame? I've seen a few posts highlighting how this video shows them all in a lavish mansion, but at the same time, completely trapped and isolated from the rest of the world
damn got deep earlier so here's my favourite shot so far. i want this as a pc 🙏 (ignoring that yoongi holding the phone up to the statue could further represent the isolation - they only have each other in the mansion, and conecting with the outside world is quite literally like trying to conect with a statue)
do we think they're showing namjoon with the car because he's got his licence now (also i saw his reflection in the car and almost started crying i was laughing so hard, namjoon im sorry for noticing that😭)
there's some fascinating analysis of the Marie Antoinette cake here, so i won't go to far into it as they word it better than I could. but tldr; it represents the consumption of celebrities, showing how we create/celebrate symbols or public figures to the point of destruction. also a nod towards how Antoinette is associated with the quote 'let them eat cake'

there are soo many mvs with lighters/fire. i think fire is one of the most common motifs in bts' music and imagery tbh

this pose is cracking me up idk. (again, can't help but to point out how dark this scene could be. it's not surprise on their faces, but almost pleasant/welcoming. they have to act nice in front of the cameras all the time for the sake of the fans, at the expense of their privacy. There's no shock, because they've become so used to their invasion of privacy that now it's almost expected)
Cute solo poses with the dogs, but I won't be as them bcs the post is already too long. (Also thinking of the motif of dogs being protectors and/or companions. They need bodyguards from the outside world, and companions that they can trust and dogs do both of these things. Also the dogs make them look fancy as hell)

currently watching: Interview with the Vampire. I finished S1 a few days ago and havent started S2 yet, but I will soon. i'm very slow at watching tv shows
currently reading: Project Hail Mary. i've been reading it on and off for about a month because i keep starting new fanfics.... i really recommend the book! just as good as the film xD
current obsession: *gestures at the whole of this blog* bts...
currently working on: I have a few piano pieces i'm working on transcribing! will hopefully finish at least one of them over the next few days. I'm also still working on editing my photos from the bts concerts, I took thousands so it's taking me a long time to go through them and edit my favourites. I'm also working on learning Korean, specifically starting with memorising hangul, which I think i've almost got solidly down now :D

one thing about my creations is that after more than 15 years making this I thought that after years of doing the same thing, I would be less critical of myself, that I wouldn't obsess over every detail, every frame composition, and every color. I often spent hours of my day tweaking layer after layer just to produce work that satisfied me, though I rarely think: oh that's really good! Over the years, that hasn't changed much but what has clearly changed, and made a huge difference is the pressure I put on myself and the tendency to compare myself to others. The beautiful thing about this art form (yes, it is art) is that each of us has our own style and brings our own unique colors to the work. And that is priceless. Thank you for letting me post what I love and for showing appreciation for my favorite hobby. Forever grateful! 💜
